QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 12:05 PM) Yes, BUT... You're also leaving out many important facts. 1) Konerko was fighting a hand/wrist and later an oblique injury at that time...early in the season...so obviously he would not do as well. Doesn't that follow? 2) Contreras was battling an injury after that Reds game in May or June of 2006 that broke his consecutive victories streak. He would never be the same pitcher with the White Sox. 3) Contreras was also fighting through injuries/health concerns last year but did not take them to Cooper and Guillen...he tried to pitch through them. All of those exigencies corrupt your example. again, an assumption. If Coop and Guillen didnt know, then how do you know?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Was Edwin Jackson available? Obviously he was, he was traded. Thats not what I meant and you know it. You cannot assume that the Rays wanted Jermaine Dye. You cannot assume that the Sox would have signed Abreu with the left over money. Yet, in the above quote you act as if it was a given. Like I said, you assume far too much

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 10:38 AM) Well....then we would have had to trade them Dye and they wouldn't have signed Burrell. With that additional money, we would have signed Abreu for RF. We know he was available because the Tigers' "dumped" a lesser player on the Rays. I think it's pretty logical that they knew they had the cheaper Niemann and Price in the pipeline and Jackson, from their perspective (both salary and performance in 2008) was the one to go. Burrell is RH and he was changing to a new league (which has obviously been a difficult transition for him). Dye was only $2 million higher in salary. So the White Sox get additional insurance for the back of their rotation...since...at the time, it wasn't 100% clear that Jose was going to come back effectively. One must assume Williams knew Jose would be back this year, but being back and being effective are two different things entirely. KW also must have known we had "depth" issues behind Contreras...Marquez, Richard, Poreda, Egbert, Broadway...none of them could be counted on to put up .500 or better records as a 5th starter. PLUS, Cooper usually loves to take on talented projects that have tools, a willingness to learn and at least competent secondary stuff to go with a "plus" fastball (Jackson is usually 93-97). You assume far too much here

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 09:30 AM) Why do people keep saying BG can't create his own shot though? He creates his own shots all the time. Sure, he dribbles it off his knee alot when he drives, and can't finish too well at the rim, but that shouldn't be confused with creating his own shot. I've seen him create his own shots time and time again... I think its because he runs off a lot of screens to get shots, which isnt a bad thing. You are right, he can create his own shot as well, but the Bulls like to get him wide open off of some screens so he doesnt have a big hand in his face

QUOTE (Tmar @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 04:53 AM) I'm very concerned. We all know his average probably won't stay above .263 for long, so he needs to bring something (power) to the table. I think he needs to bring other things to the table, like spoons and forks, maybe a water pitcher with a lemon in it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 09:11 AM) Any talk yet about the Obama administration having to decide what to do with the 16 year old boy who could be facing life in prison, or even the death penalty for his role as a pirate and kidnapper? I was reading something on CNN where they were saying the kid was almost excited to come to the US because he wouldnt be fighting for food anymore and he would have a place to live(jail).

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) All I want to see is Tool Such a great show. I will never forget them closing out Lolla 97 at the World/Tweeter Center/whatever it is called now. Korn cancelled because Munky got meningitis and Tool got the extra time. Maynard blew me away, the guy has such a great presence on stage

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 07:11 AM) What will happen if he starts swinging at pitcher's pitches the first pitch is everyone complaining that he takes pitches out of the strike zone now will start complaining that he swings at everything. That's pretty much guaranteed. He has a long swing right now, there's no question. Supposedly its really short in BP but he hasn't been able to bring it to the game. Once that happens, if that happens, the term "BA fanboy" will go away. please god, let that happen. Just so I dont have to look at the fanboy/hunny posts

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) I wasn't aware of that. Makes no sense at all. Oh yeah, my wife has come home crying a few times when this stuff happened to her. Basically as you are ordering food and drinks the waitresses are "paying" for the food and drinks in the computer. When you pay your bill, you are paying what they have fronted for you. When you dine and dash, that food comes out of their tips when they cash out at the end of the night and the drawers are counted out.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) Doesn't work that way. What you need to do is keep him away from the polar, ice-covered regions. He could be a weapon up there. LOL, even an obvious joke is corrected by Balta -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) First possibly official reviews I've seen, UK Daily Mail goes 5 stars for Star Trek. UK Times also loved it. But the uniforms are bad! That means its gonna suck!

Maybe they were worried that his hair would increase global warming by creating a umbrella effect that would trap the heat in costa rica. -
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) Unless I can get tickets cheaper, I'll be skipping Lolla this year. Get a daypass for the day you really want to be there. Unless you want to see it all, in that case you are SOL

I think there is really no way the Celtics pull this out. They have looked sluggish, disinterested, and it took everything they had to win 1 game when they should have won both. The Bulls are going to hold home court and I dont think it comes back to Chicago after game 5
