Dye Suspended 2 Games
QUOTE (Texsox @ May 15, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) When he threw the helmet, he had to take responsibility for where it goes. There is no other reasonable way to write or adjudicate a rule. Intent is just to hard to determine with total certainty. You can factor in character by the number of previous fines and suspensions. But above all it should be objective evidence, not subjective, that trumps. I know, Im saying he is going to get a suspension no matter what. just like if you bounced your bat off the ground and it happened to hit the ump in the leg or foot, I dont think the suspension would be the same as something like Delmon Young got for intentionally throwing the bat at the umpire. Dye is definitely responsible for the helmet and where it goes, but it doesnt seem like he was really trying to hit the umpire.

Dye Suspended 2 Games
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 15, 2009 -> 01:52 PM) Seems about right. It was significantly more contact against the ump than what Bradley did, and watching the video, Dye meant for the helmet to head that direction (though maybe not hit him). 2 games seems about right to me, though I obviously wish it was less. i dont know about his intent to throw the helmet in that direction. If you throw a helmet down like that, its like a football, it can bounce in any direction. It looked to me like Dye threw it straight down and it just happened to bounce towards the ump. And I think that Bradley was a little worse than Dye because he was in the umps face arguing a call, Dye was walking back to the dugout in disgust after saying a few words. To me its debatable either way, im not going to argue that what you think is wrong, but I also think Dye can appeal and get 1 game reduced.

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 14, 2009 -> 11:23 PM) I'm not buying the notion that the Lakers from 1-12 are the most talented team in the NBA,except for Kobe,Gasol and sometimes Odom, the other 9 are just role players>> Farmar,Bynum,Fisher,Walton,Vujacic,Riza...come on,seriously? Most talented? How? When healthy Bynum is pretty damn good, he is no role player. And he is just a kid, he is only going to get better.

Dye Suspended 2 Games
Now watch Dye do what Bradley should have done, and take the suspension. Not that he deserves it, but because Dye is a good guy.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 14, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) Tom Moore retired. Wonder how that's going to affect Peyton Manning. My guess is not at all. Peyton has been running the show for a while. He has a billion page playbook memorized

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 14, 2009 -> 10:48 PM) ????? Anyway, that trailer has to be one of the worst I have ever seen, and this is one of my most looked to movies as well. Luckily they've said the trailer has little to do with the movie. Are you asking about what i am referring to? Last post of the previous page, trailer for Dead Snow

Contreras Update
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) Am I the only who wonders if Contreras is indeed not feeling any pain right now? He is having a problem with location, which could very well be a product of having a sore achillies and not being able to plant and fire consistently because of it. Without a solid finish, his release point could be deviating a lot, which would explain the wildness, especially in the forkball which he has to over throw to make sure it is down, and has been bouncing into the plate very often this year. We know Jose hid pain from Ozzie last year, would he be above doing it again this year in an effort to get back to play before his contract is up? There is probably so much muscle atrophy that he is still recovering from, he is probably constantly sore in his leg/ankle. I had a sore achilles once in high school due to a growth spurt, I cannot even imagine tearing it and the residual pain that would accompany that.

Mike Missanelli just became my hero
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 14, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) I love how he resorts to questioning Missanelli's resume and asking him how old he is. Almost immediately he resorts to that tactic. Missanelli hit him pretty hard right off the bat and Bayless kind of stutters and starts with "who am I speaking with? whats your name", and you could tell Missanelli was ready for it Its too bad Missanelli didnt have anythign better than "Google me", but it was still pretty good

Its basically the same hitch that BA had, isnt it? Hands high, pitch comes in, hands drop then come back up and boom the ball is in the mitt.

Is Josh Fields a bust?
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 14, 2009 -> 09:17 AM) Joe Crede is working his magic in Twinkie land while Fields is plowed under MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins manager Ron Gardenhire tried to find the words to describe what he had just witnessed on Wednesday night. And well, forgive him if he couldn't exactly come up with a way to summarize the Twins' 14-10 walk-off victory over the Tigers that ended after four hours and 48 minutes with Joe Crede's two-out pinch-hit grand slam in the 13th inning. oh yay. now this

Lillibridge the leader to go back to Charlotte
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 14, 2009 -> 07:20 AM) KW gets fired up at fans at Soxfest Q &As. At least he used to. I haven't gone the past couple of years. I am fully aware that KW has an ego. My point is that he fits right in with plenty of GMs, if not most. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 14, 2009 -> 07:20 AM) Do you really believe that he's the best GM in baseball and is beyond questioning, ever? However, I am very much elated to see that someone is keeping track of the general "tone and tenor" of my thousands of postings about KW. Did I say that? Please point that out. Do you honestly read this stuff back to yourself and say "Yep, this fits in with the conversation" wtf?

Contreras Update
57 strikes in 108 pitches? Man, his location is shot. he may not have given up runs, but I dont think major league players are going to let him off the hook with all of those walks like the AAA teams will
