  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 06:38 AM) But those guys were brought on for positions where there are/were obvious holes. The Twins' rotation already has five starters, sixth if you count Bonser, and I'm sure he'll get another opportunity to start somewhere (like Lohse did) before all is said and done. Why would they need another starter if they already have Liriano, Baker, Slowey, Blackburn and Perkins? It doesn't make much sense. Maybe they're looking for some veteran leadership in the rotation w/ Hernandez, Santana and Radke gone, but their pen is loaded with lefties, and Blackburn doesn't profile as an 8th inning set-up guy for Nathan, so the only thing that would make sense would be trading Perkins as part of a deal for Beltre/Atkins/Kouzmanoff...someone like that. Is it really a problem to have too many starters?
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) Sexy WWE Diva! You are not nice
  3. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Maybe the Sox are considering moving Gordon Beckham to CF? Not enough green in the world for this one
  4. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) While listening to Beyonce? LMAO. That was low. Even from you Lemme Lemme upgrade, upgrade
  5. The last week I have been getting incredibly bad 80's movie soundtrack songs stuck in my head. I mean terribly, horribly, no-good really really bad songs stuck in my head. Yesterday? "She's like the Wind" Dirty Dancing. Thank you wife for watching Dirty Dancing on Encore. I really appreciated that. Now? Not so bad, but I have the Ghostbusters theme in my head. And it wont go away
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed on tuesday and am not looking forward to it...at all. I had it done when i was about 16, I was knocked out and when I woke up it was done, and that was the best way for me to do it. People tell me about being awake through the procedure, thats not for me. If I could be knocked out for every dental procedure I would be a happy camper. Its strange, some people are out of commission for a few days, bruising and swelling, other people go right back to work with no loss of time.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) Shoot, they'd double the ticket prices that game just to pay AC/DC. I would pay it.
  8. How about an AC/DC night where the band plays Thunderstruck on the centerfield grandstand live for the game warmup, then has a concert after the game in the same place
  9. I am trying to beat the LEGO Batman game. So much back and forth, so many little things to do to beat the game. It isnt hard at all, but I am definitely having fun finding everything. After this game, Im going to get the Star Wars and Indiana Jones games and beat them as well
  10. Oh no, now there cannot be a Manning vs Manning Superbowl! What is ESPN to do? Ohhhhh Nooooooooes!!!!
  11. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) Awful. http://deadspin.com/5122846/meet-your-new-...t--jay-mariotti LOL, kinda funny though. You gotta wonder why the major sports media outlets passed on him(ESPN, SI, FOX, CBS) and he is writing for AOL now.

QUOTE (TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) the movie Dinosaur did that. Real locations with animated creatures. from IMDB:The backgrounds in the movie are actually superimposed(pictures over pictures, making a scene look more than it is) photos of exotic tropical locations such as Tahiti and Hawaii. Right, I knew there has been a few of those movies already. Monsters vs Aliens looks good though, the preview is funny
  13. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 03:15 AM) Unless something drastically happens in the next three days, (and by that I mean if everything goes right) I will have to quit my job and move back in with my mom... maybe if you didnt have such a pinched face these things wouldnt happen. are in you danger of being laid off then?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 08:27 AM) Well, it's the next stage, like Matrix was the first....but there's always something a little bit disconcerting about lifelike 3D cartoon animation with human beings...what was the movie that tried that, it was a science fiction movie? Wait, do you think this is like the Star Wars prequels with real people interacting with cartoon characters? I think this is the type of movie that has real backgrounds, but the entire cast and a good portion of the "set" is animated.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 05:48 AM) Phillip Pullman's Golden Compass trilogy, it was supposed to be followed up by His Dark Materials, I guess the atheistic crowd/dark appeal isn't quite what it used to be for young children, lol. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0892782/ Monsters vs. Aliens (not to be confused w. S. Weaver) 3D, the first new wave hit of the future of film-making this year You make it sound new and revolutionary, its gonna be a good movie, but it isnt reinventing the wheel
  16. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) Well, I think the thing with Chad is he was a great QB until he blew out his arm. Combine that with the suckiness of those Jets teams and you get a bad Chad Pennington. As for Eli, I think he's a franchise QB in the making, but he hasn't lived up to the hype and I don't think he ever will. Most guys don't. Hell, Brandon Clausen was supposed to dominate college and he's sucked IMO. Jimmy?

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 07:45 PM) I was on a forum somewhere a little while ago reading, there were New Yorkers b****ing and whatnot. I was like come on, you guys f***ing have everything, damn. Every movie is set in either New York or L.A., let us have our moments. Exactly. I dont mind Gotham being connected with Chicago one bit. New York has Spiderman, and Metropolis is more or less New York, so Superman as well.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 07:40 PM) Whenever it's been talked about, it's always just seemed to be New York by default, and Metropolis was sort of a hybrid of Chicago and New York. But in these Batman movies there is no denying it, the streets, the downtown, the buses, architecture, and some of the skyline (although not the landmark parts with the buildings everybody knows). Good. F*** New York.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) yeah. I'm probably being nice to Roethlisberger too, because he was pretty terrible this year. In regards to QB rating...Manning 15th (86.4), Delhomme 18th (84.7), Roethlisberger 24th (80.1). I don't know why you didn't question Chad Pennington, seeing as how he had the 2nd best QB rating in the game, but my reasoning behind him is merely that I think he is. He was fantastic this year, but overall has been a mediocre QB. I will also say that Eli Manning might be the most overrated player in the entire NFL. People consider him an elite QB when quite frankly he is anything but an elite QB. Mediocre completion percentage, yards thrown, touchdowns thrown, and QB rating...the only thing he was good at, and pretty much fits hand in hand with a mediocre, game managing QB, is that he didn't turn the ball over much (10 INTs, 2 lost fumbles). Eli Manning is not a franchise QB. I think one of the things that has stood out for Eli in the past two years is that he has become one hell of a closer. He usually has bleh first halves, and tends to have pretty good second halves to comeback and win the game.
  20. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Dec 31, 2008 -> 01:25 PM) Makes sense for the Cubs. DeRosa had a career year last year; he's unlikely to repeat those numbers. Might as well sell high. A career year? Looks about the same as the previous two, the only difference showing is the jump in homeruns, but its only 8 more. http://www.baseball-reference.com/d/derosma01.shtml
  21. I just could not imagine a civil war within the US like that.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 31, 2008 -> 10:58 AM) I disagree. You don't put up games with 300+ yards and 3+ td's unless you have talent. Plug Orton into the Patriots offense and you wouldn't get that kind of production. And their running backs were not solid - they were hurt all year. Kevin Faulk isn't exactly a quality back. Moss was big, but name me another big time threat they have? I'm not saying he's the next Tom Brady, but give the guy a decent line with some decent passing threats and I think he'll be a winner. Um, Wes Welker? Jabar Gaffney? Sammy Morris? BenJarvis Green-Ellis? Kevin Faulk? Lamont Jordan? Ben Watson? Sure, some of those guys got hurt, but they all contributed
  23. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 31, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) It's an ok system, but I do use my psp much more for media than games (thanks to the link with the ps3). It's nice to be able to stream a movie over the net from my ps3 while at a family gathering. The game selection has been poor, and for that I'm not sure. God of War was great, the Syphon Filter games were great, and most of the sports games (especially baseball and hot shots golf) are also great, but otherwise there just hasn't been much out there to choose from. Werent those ports though? Or were they both original PSP titles?
  24. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 31, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) What's the status of Cassel going into next year? Is he a free agent? I'd throw a bone at the Patriots and try to grab him. He won a lot of games this year against good teams even though he's got a defense full of 50 year old has-beens. Grant it, he has Moss, but still. Even if we're stuck with Orton next year, lets draft a QB and groom him for the future. I'd be willing to sit through another season or two of mediocre play if it meant that there was someone waiting in the wings. No, he has moss, a pretty good stable of running backs, one of the best lines in the league, and a team around him that went undefeated through the regular season last year. Cassell is gonna be getting paid, I pray that the Bears are not writing those checks
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 31, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Which in that atmosphere will happen in about late June instead of August because recovery is the hardest in that thin air. Im not expecting it to work out, but I know why the Rockies are doing it
