  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) f***ing cold out. yup
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) Earl Bennet? I just think Lovie has an odd doghouse. He doesnt explain these things to us so we are all left guessing, its the same thing with Josh Beekman last year, and sort of the same thing with Mark Bradley. Really if you think about it, Berrian didnt see the field much until he had a breakout playoff game against the Panthers in 05, and the next year he was a starter. Who knows, maybe Ron Turner is telling Lovie who he feels is not prepared.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) It's an indictment of the coaching staff, namely Darryl Drake. honestly, if a player cannot hold onto the ball Im not blaming the WR coach. If the player is lost and is running the wrong routes and is generally unprepared, then I can see blaming Drake.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) One time is a random occurrence. Multiple times...that's starting to become a trend. in regards to fumbles, or players who have gone elsewhere
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 11:18 AM) I really think that the bears are so bad at developing receivers that even if we got a great one they wouldn't ever shine. I mean merely seeing Justin Gage actually look like a competent receiver in tennessee is so far and beyond what he was in chicago it makes me crazy. Same with wade. These below avg. receivers leave us and become respectable elsewhere. Lets face it, those two BLEW with the bears, both of them couldnt hold onto the ball, especially wade. I know for a fact I was not sad to see them go. So they resurrected their careers elsewhere, oh well.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 10:57 AM) I’m not so hot on simply giving him the job from the get go. I think it’s unfair to CR/AP, Marquez and the rest of the young guys. It also takes away an additional motivational factor the team could use to get Bartolo’s head in the game. If he is healthy, he is better than those three. IF he is healthy. If he isnt, its a moot point
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 10:49 AM) As long as the pilotless plane didn't find itself hooking in to a building in downtown Indy... from what I read, the plane landed 50-75 meters from some houses.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 10:51 AM) At field camp up in Montana we had a huge mouse problem. About half of the way through the camp we finally convinced the instructors to buy us some mouse traps. The first night I set one with a bit of peanut butter, set it down and shut off the lights. 3 minutes it took to get the first one. My total for the next couple weeks was something like 15, but I can't recall the exact count. we had some clever meeces where I was at. They would clean the peanut butter off the trap with not a drop left. My roomate told me to tie a piece of string to the trap, and put peanut butter on the trap and all over the string. When the mouse starts eating the peanut butter and gets the string in its mouth, it instinctively pulls on the string and sets the trap. An old farmhouse I lived at in Carbondale had quite a few little critters lose their lives to that trick
  9. Heeeeeeeeey, thats not right. Obi told me the same thing!
  10. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 09:07 AM) MLB Hot Stove is reporting that Andrew Jones will be released by the Dodgers on Thursday. I have to think KW will take the chance with him at league minimum and hope Walker can fix him. If he is a malcontent or just plain sucks, then cut him loose. Hot Stove showed film of him looking slim and fit and broke down differences in his batting stance in LA vs. Atlanta. KW might have to have one of his interns track down Boras's number and have Hahn call him. Jones was poison at his previous salary. He is a low risk high reward at league minimum and the Sox do not have CF nailed down just yet. Andruw wants to go back to Atlanta
  11. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 03:59 AM) Where's the fun in that? LOL, carry on, carry on. I had to teach my dad a few tricks to get a few mice that moved in over the winter. He was leaving cheese on the bait-set and they would just take it off. I had to show him the peanut butter on a string trick and he nailed a huge one within 10 minutes
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 08:30 AM) Definitely. To have beaten Creighton in Omaha would of been a huge mental boost. Just gotta handle pressure and take care of the ball down the stretch. They showed some highlights on SportsCenter. Did Dillard even touch the kid at the end of regulation? Looked like he just put his hand up. Charge on Hare was a total flop as well. I listened to the game online last night, I dont know what happened. Mike Reis didnt sound too happy though I think the Salukis are going to crush Creighton at home after this though
  13. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) Why don't more people want pax fired? I just choose not to state it every day.
  14. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 07:17 AM) And his stepfather whom he was close to had just died as well. Sounds like the whole world had just fallen apart on him in a short span. . . not that he didn't bring the bulk of it on himself. The only thing that makes me feel bad for him is the loss of his stepfather. His wife left him because he was having problems staying faithful(when his house was raided, he was in Florida with his girlfriend apparently), and his business problems were all on him as well
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) Love the Creighton fans booing the refs during the game, even though they were the reason the game went to OT and kept them in the game. tough loss, the kids really hung tough. I really think they are turning the corner
  16. Bulls win 102-98. Rose was a maniac in the second half
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) What do you think? I think yer series
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) I know what you're saying but this is why awards voting bothers me. For the rest of his life Bartolo Colon will be referred to as a "former cy young award winner" but he in no way deserved to win that award in 2005. It's like Joe Crede being referred to as an all star or silver slugger award winner, it's just not fair to the players who actually earned the title with their play on the field. Yeah, but Colon had some pretty great years in Cleveland as well. He may not have been the best pitcher in the game in 2005, but he was still pretty damn good
  19. QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 06:43 PM) I have found that the greatest way to minimize the effects of a hangover (practically eliminate them) is to take a multivitamin before bed. Your miles may vary my friends in college swore by a B-complex vitamin.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 06:55 PM) I question your loyalty without the Nich Evans avatar. I thought that threads that me, you, and rowand all posted in were confusing
  21. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 06:56 PM) When he is not hurt... Colon is still effective. I really think he joins the rotation at some point... and makes atleast 12 starts. your sig is going to look a lot different soon
  22. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 06:51 PM) I'm convinced if you've been with the White Sox before and had experienced any resemblance of success, you'll be rumored to return at some point before retiring. Maybe Ncorg will come out of the shadows and serenade us with "Tub of Goo" comments. heck, I wish we could fast forward to his first start so the chat can get started on it
  23. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) Okay, how about someone who isn't over the hill, doesn't have major durability concerns, and can be counted on the be at least an average starter? Kind of long, but gets the point across, IMO. thats fine. I just cant say that a former cy young is not proven
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) Go Dawgs If they can squeak one out in Omaha I will be very happy. Im not expecting it, but it would really show a lot
  25. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) I'm not going to feel remotely comfortable with our rotation until we bring in a proven starter, and right now, neither Garcia or Colon are proven starters. That Vazquez trade is really hurting us right now. However, that trade does help us with the future, as I am a big fan of Flowers and that 3B prospect (I forget his name). I find it funny how some people were making fun of the Indians and some other teams going with the strategy of throwing as much crap against the wall and see what sticks, but that's EXACTLY what we're doing right now. Colon, Garcia(?), Broadway, Marquez, Richard, and Poreda. Poreda being the only one who might not be crap. "Proven" isnt the word I would use. I understand what you are saying, I just dont think proven is the right word
