QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:36 AM) Yes and no. He's made big strides to get us back to a higher level of competition, but he has a stupid rule where he won't play any school without a return home game and will also not accept 2 for 1's, which completely blows. Mario Mocca and SIU's previous AD adopted the same rule way back in the Weber years. Its rough for the first couple of years, but as long as your team takes care of its business during those rough times and continues to win, it starts to pay dividends. SIUs OOC schedule has steadily gotten better -
I did one time at the radiostation I hated working at in college. And I took a bagel out of a bag of bagels, and ate it plain because I was starving and couldnt leave for food. And I replaced the bagel the next week and nobody complained

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 02:02 PM) Is that a joke? Oh Im sorry, I didnt realize Hellboy was a Literature classic Some of the comic book movies are reboots/remakes, but a lot of the newer comic book movies havent had any screen treatment, and I look forward to those movies. Then again, I dont really kill movies like a lot of you guys do, so take it with a grain of salt.

QUOTE (R.J. @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 09:30 AM) Doesn't Kemp lead off? I want this to happen right now. That 17th pick would be so, so nice. Cabrera doesnt like leading off anyways, he likes being the 2 hitter, so that would work out nicely for the dodgers

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 07:54 AM) I had Wendy's last night. For some reason McDonald's just doesn't taste good to me anymore, and I burned myself out on Burger King a few years ago. Why'd Wendy's get rid of the Big Bacon Classic in favor of the Baconator? The Baconator sucks, it's like half a dead pig on a cheeseburger with no other ingredients. If I wanted that much bacon I'd just go to Bob Evans. I couldnt agree with you more. I am no meat-atarian I guess, because its just too much beef and bacon, it just tastes like grease and cheese. I always tell them to add lettuce tomato and onion, or at one Wendys I go to I ask for the Big Bacon Classic and they make it the old way. But I am pretty much done with the baconator

QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 08:00 AM) Thank you for that bit of nostalgia. My office was at Algonquin and 53. I lived in Wheeling and Wildwood while working there, so I traveled that stretch a lot. From my house in Wheeling, the drive was always about 30 minutes. Then one night at 3 am the alarm was triggered and I had to go to the office. Ten minutes. After that my drive sucked knowing how fast it could be without stopping at every light. LOL, I used to LIVE in Rolling Meadows at Algonquin and 53, two streetlights from the 53 exit ramp (carraigeway drive). My father used to work at Hewlett Packard in the 90's back in the industrial park that was in the corner of 90 and 53 as well

Last night it took me an hour and 15 minutes to get from my house in Schaumburg to my fathers house in Buffalo Grove, normal commute time for me 15 minutes. On the way back, I was in bumper to bumper traffic on Rt 53 from Dundee road until Euclid road, and this was at 8 in the evening.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 01:55 AM) PoP could be a pretty awesome movie if it is done well. Well what do you think of Jake Gyllenhal being the Prince? I dont mind Comic book movies, at least its original (read: not retreads, remakes, re-imagining, sequel) material for the most part.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) I'll tell you its not Furcal or Gathright I love when you offer these little tidbits. Its like talking to an agent

http://www.chicagotribune.com/features/lif...0,7830011.story I didnt react as harshly to these commercials as the critics, but when I do see them I think they are rather simple. Personally I LOVE big macs, but I dont mind eating Whoppers.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 07:51 AM) The amount of shovelware on the Wii is probably more than with the PS3 and 360 combined because it's so popular and it's easy for 3rd party companies to make money. There are good games for the Wii obviously, but they are marketed at a completely different audience. Furthermore Nintendo's been the "family" console for a good 10 years now, so yeah, they're gonna have a lot of kids games, many of which will be s***ty. this i disagree with. Nintendo has historically been a problem with 3rd party developers because they try to control so many aspects of the development on the system. Their 3rd party "family" is kind of small. The WiiWare is a different aspect which is giving 3rd party developers opportunities to test out games, but its still pretty strict. I still love the classic catalog to download from though

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) I don't believe Logan ever had regenerative powers like a gecko when it loses it's tail or whatever. If a limb or part of a limb is gone, his healing factor can't regrow it... rather his healing factor is just a super accelerated form of any human's ability to heal. This made him a possibility for the Weapon X Project because he would heal quickly. However, re-growing a hand not so much. If I recall (it was a really long time ago), he did discover in that series that his adamantium claws would still come out through that stump. Like I said, it was a long time ago, but that series was pretty fun. Another fun Wolverine spinoff also involved Batman, after the Marvel/DC miniseries spawned the Amalgam universe and combined characters from DC and Marvel. It was called "Dark Claw". Kind of lame looking back at it, but when I was 13 (1996), it was really awesome. It also featured a funny mixture of Jubilee and Robin. The amalgam series was awesome for sure. IIRC it was Superman/Captain America, Batman/Wolverine, and for some wierd reason Spiderman/Superboy. There are some more I am forgetting. Plus, the comics that led up to the amalgam universe was even better with the DC vs Marvel battles.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) Anyone remember when they came out with the "Weapon X" alternate reality storyline for Wolverine where he was missing a hand? I loved that s***. How did they explain the lack of regeneration for his hand?

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/...iD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU Does anyone think that the recent "victory" by the Williams wall in the courtroom vs the NFL in regards to StarCaps is setting a precedent? It seems bogus to me that these guys are getting away with it while lesser players in the league have basically taken their punishment and dealt with it. Basically the same thing happened to Jim Miller in 99 or 2000 and he had to serve a 4 game suspension, and one of the jokes about it was that he in no way looks like a guy who would be using steroids, and thats some of the same line of reasoning I am hearing about Pat Williams using StarCaps to mask steroid use. maybe one of our maverick lawyers on the website can explain it to me a little better, it just seems that the williams wall is just delaying the inevitable until the offseason for the playoff run, and will serve the suspensions at the start of next season. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) In my fantasy land, the Jags let Gregg Williams go, Bob Babich is dumped, and Williams comes to the Bears. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3768691 -
I was really skeptical about the Wolverine movie, but it looks a lot better in that preview than anything else I have seen from it. Looks a lot rougher than X-men. I like Liev Shrieber(sp?), but I actually liked Tyler Mane's version of Sabretooth. Maybe it was a little more acting that Mane couldnt do
