QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) Everett was hardly a difference-maker in '05. Difference maker, no. Integral piece of the puzzle, yes

Gagne still at the top, I wonder how many of his blown saves came after drug testing was enforced

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 03:24 PM) Where did you hear of/see this? I wonder what a fit Paul Konerko could do. It would be great if he built up his strength, endurance and lost some of that flab through a conditioning program. Maybe we would be in store for another 40 HR/100+ RBI season from him? eh?

Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap
Kyyle23 replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 01:28 PM) I'm sure they'd rather move DeWitt to 2nd, where his offense would look a little better. And it's true that the Dodgers want Blake back. My point, is that for either Kemp or Ethier, Dye and Fields probably isn't what they'll want. But what the hell do I know. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) DeWitt was struggling at the time the Dodgers made that trade, and sent to the minors to make room for Blake. But, he came back in September after getting past his slump and put up an .872 OPS for them playing mainly 2b in September. He started every one of their playoff games I believe. I know DeWitt is a good prospect, im sure the Dodgers have him penciled in for a while. I think that Kent is the wildcard, while he is a great hitter still, the guy is a liability on the field, and like I said he isnt getting any younger -

QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 01:20 PM) Blake DeWitt plays 2nd and 3rd. DeWitt is 22 and looks like a good player. He covered for LaRoche at 3rd because LaRoche sucks. So unless someone clears out of that infield, Fields isn't going to help them. I dont know about that. If they were that confident in DeWitt, then they really shouldnt of had to trade for Casey Blake last year. Also, Kent isnt getting any younger -

QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 01:17 PM) Then give them Fields. Did Jeff Kent retire? Because if not, Fields wouldn't have a position on the Dodgers. When did Jeff Kent start playing third? Or conversely, when did Josh Fields start playing 2nd? -

QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) It's a shame they can't put a breathalyzer on a keyboard and lock out drunks from posting. This would make the "I am Drunk" thread a very lonely and sad place -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 11:23 PM) FWIW Ranger, I have absolutely no problem with your rankings. I'd disagree with a few things as I think the Eagles are too inconsistent to be a top 10 team though they do have the talent, but overall they look pretty good. Even at 12-1, I'm having trouble believing in the Titans. oh, and 6 points in the last 8 quarters for Buffalo after a game in which they scored 54 f***ing points. Yeah, pack it in boys. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) What teams still need shortstops? Baltimore? Detroit? Minnesota The Dodgers Oakland Anybody else? And who's available to fill those slots? Furcal OCab Wilson I think these two teams wont have a problem filling the position from within if they cannot find a FA deal to thier liking.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) Yeah, I forgot to throw Superman returns into the middle pack. I'm not so sure why Singer decided to go so slow paced and long with that movie. He was trying to connect it to happen after the second movie, so maybe he felt like people needed a refresher. Yeah, he even said as much(in regards to refreshing peoples memory of the first two movies). I understood what he was trying to do, and why he did it, I just think he overestimated the reaction that would come for a movie like that. I think he biggest fault, and coincidentally his greatest move, was to bring Lex Luthor in as the bad guy(yet again). Spacey was awesome as a ruthless Lex Luthor, but come on, in every movie Superman has gone up against Lex Luthor except for Superman 3, and in that movie he went against himself. That has been done over and over, it was time for Brainiac or Bizzaro or even Doomsday to make an appearance.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) Lions have had every chance to beat the Vikings today, but looks like they're going to lose again. The worst part is that it looks like Tarvaris Jackson is going to beat them -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) In my fantasy land, the Jags let Gregg Williams go, Bob Babich is dumped, and Williams comes to the Bears. Really? You want the DC from one of the worst teams all season? I understand that Williams has a nice history, but to see the Jaguars pack it in with a good portion of the season left is pretty telling on how much the coaching is getting through to the players. And this isnt to say I want to keep Babich, I want him gone yesterday -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 02:59 AM) Superman was a terrible movie. It couldn't have been more boring if they tried. And by "the second punisher," which do you mean? The Thomas Jane version was one of the best comic book movies ever made, period. I usually agree with you on movies, but you couldnt be more wrong if you tried, especially on the theme of it being the best comic book movie of all time. The Thomas Jane punisher has barely any connection to the comic book character. If they changed the names of the characters in that movie and just made it an action/revenge movie about a guy whose family was killed, nobody would know the difference. The Punisher IS over the top, thats the way the comic book is. He just kills and kills in many different violent ways, its just the way it is. If thats the way the Ray Stevenson Punisher is, Im all for it.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) Nintendo needs to make something, that is for sure. Yeah, they need a *pop* title soon. Wii Music isnt as great as they wanted it to be. In fact, i have read it is downright bad.

So Cashman is going to meet with Sabathia before the meetings, the Red Sox plan to meet Sabathia in the next few days, Sabathia is waiting to see if the Angels re-sign Texiera, and Derek Lowe is waiting for CC to sign before he signs, plus AJ Burnett was just offered 4/60 from the Braves. Which is the first domino to fall?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) Just bought the db Clay wallets for a couple of co-workers...and myself. yesterday I stared at the griffin itrip Ipod car dock all day long(13.97), but I couldnt justify buying it for myself until I finished all of my christmas shopping.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 09:09 AM) So Super Mario Galaxy arrived yesterday. When it first started and the videos were playing and all the gay stars were talking to me, I was like, "WTF?". Then I started actually playing it, and I couldn't put it down and wound up staying up much later than I should have. What an incredibly interesting, original, and fun game. There's a lot of creativity at the big N, and they put it all into this game. I can't wait to put another few hours into it. I cant wait until Shigeru Miyamoto and his crew finish the sequel. And Pikmin.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 08:55 AM) It took 15 years to make the record. Overproduced? I can understand. But this just feels dated and bad. GnR needs Slash to make its traditional bloat work. I listened to one song on youtube, and I was unimpressed to say the least. I can wait until a friend has the album before I take it all in

I actually dont mind Cantu being a stopgap/backup for Viciendo. If Viciendo falters at the start of the season, you can plug Cantu in there untl Dayan feels comfortable or more ready for the bigs. I dont have the same feeling of trust with Fields
