  1. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 07:54 AM) Next time, I'll add my scale of how to rank players in the NFL. /green I go from awful, to medicore, to solid, to good, to great. To me, Williams isn't even good. You can say "He will be now that he's leaving Detroit", but how do you know? He's suddenly going to limit his drops? How much better is Johnson then Kitna/Orlovsky? Tell me who is good, based on your scale
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 12:39 AM) We truly do suck in those domes We have to change our team a bit just so we don't go 1-8 in Minnie next year again. Man that's seven under .500 rite there. What would those seven games have changed in the playoffs? The Sox STILL would have faced the Rays with a record of 96-66. The only difference is the Sox would have home field advantage. And I dont think that would have any effect on how the Rays are playing right now. I will say this, the White Sox put up a much bigger fight than the Red Sox have, one dimensional offense and all.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) That movie is f***ing miserable... the girl who attacks him, the stereotypical "misunderstood bad girl from abusive parents" has ninja like skills and a magic knife that she uses like secret agent. The concept was good, interesting, but the execution was piss poor. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) Michael Cera has the acting range of John Heder. That movie was a miserable attempt at capturing hipster lifestyle with teen drama. There was no point where I cared about any of the characters, and the story lacked any kind of cohesion. Norah has an orgasm and its recorded OMG!?!?! Take your f***ing clothes off slut! This geeky f***ing nerd gets her off by double clicking her mouse? Me thinks not. Sarah Marshall was disappointing as well... the Apatow crew act is wearing a little thin on me (Pineapple Express was pretty bad too) so I'm hoping they can show a little more depth in their next movie. did you wake up on the wrong side of the critic bed? Seen anything you actually liked....ever?
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Sure, he's a tallish, strong WR, but he drops tons of passes. He's only had one 1000 yard season in 5 seasons, including 1 or 2 years of less then 700 yards. What has he done to prove he's good? Watch him become a perennial probowler getting out of Detroit. The guy has all the talent in the world. TO used to have problems with drops early in his career too.
  5. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 12:55 AM) Still funny to think that you're still not smart enough to understand the comment I made. Meanwhile, I called the Rays winning the American League and looks like I'll be right about that. Well please explain the comment then. Uribe isnt talented enough to hold Upton's jock, much less be compared to in regards to his offensive production.
  6. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) Because him and McNabb didn't get along, unlike he and Romo. If TO cared about himself so much when he was in Dallas, he would have been kicked off the team by now (ala Pacman Jones, who's basically a lost cause IMHO). Pacman hasnt been kicked off the team. And if he didnt have the NFL coming down on him, Jerry Jones would have looked the other way. And in regards to Romo and TO getting along, this year he has already complained about not getting the ball enough. The guy is just an egomaniac, thats all there is to it. Sometimes it is to the detriment of the team, sometimes it is for the good of the team, but make no mistakes, TO is all about TO.

Has anyone seen the movie "The Invisible"? I caught about 3/4 of the movie the other night, and i thought it was pretty interesting. A kid gets attacked by some "friends" and is left for dead, but they actually think he is dead. The kid has an out of body experience and starts following around the responsible parties trying to convince them to tell people where he is. They can sense him, and one girl can actually hear him, so it makes for an interesting concept. The movie was directed by David Goyer, its pretty dark overall.
  8. Do many people here watch Eli Stone? Great season premiere last night. One thing though, did Natasha Henstridge have a baby recently? For lack of a better explanation, she just didnt look right last night, she looked "puffy" and like she had botox 5 minutes before filming. Usually I think she is one of the hotter women on TV, but she just didnt look up to form last night
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) Did anyone see that E60 promo on that Pavlik or whatever boxer? It was so inspirational. He destroyed Jermaine Taylor and he gets Bernard Hopkins coming up. You may get banned from this thread on mere principle.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) Upton's lack of power this season was baffling, especially considering he sluggled a little over .500 in 2007. It's unfortunate he found the power stroke against us, but he clearly has really found it. He's been a good player the last two seasons, but this postseason could really vault him into superstardom, a realization of his full potential, and a great 2009 and beyond. As for tonight, Sonnastine vs. Wakefield is just about impossible to predict IMO. One thing is for sure though, Boston BETTER win. They've got enough problems with Beckett pitching hurt, but to fall behind 3-1 with potential games 6 and 7 in St. Petersburg might be too much for even them to overcome. It hasnt been baffling, Upton had a seperated shoulder in May and has rotator cuff damage. They talk about it almost every time he comes up to bat in the playoffs. He needs surgery when the season is over
  11. Anyone want to place bets on how long it takes for Pacman to get into trouble while suspended?
  12. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 10:05 AM) interestingly though, if anyone tries to explain why they think momentum exists he can shut them down. and if someone's going to call in a show like this, they have to be on top of their game or else dont bother calling. here's where i agree with a lot that's been said: i wish he'd take guests to task when they discuss a team's momentum.... he gives them a free pass but jumps all over callers who dont do this for a living and beats them so yea, he strongarms the callers and uses his familiarity with the forum to win arguments. but it's still entertaining radio so i tune in. i mean i wouldnt wanna have a beer with him, but i'll listen and it's particularly awesome when the rare caller gets in and beats them at their game. well Boers is always more likely to be caught in something. an act of verbal hypocrisy, that is. He can shut them down only because you cannot measure something like momentum. Any of us can see it happening, you can feel it during a game. Its just something thats tremendously hard to explain
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 09:38 AM) If anyone listened to Bernstein on Friday afternoon when they were discussing fighting in hockey it was hte most condesending piece of crap I had ever heard. You could tell he does not liek hockey and this was his way of telling us. How he can lovethe NBA is beyond me. I really do not like either afternoon show. MJ&H seem be taking more of a warm and fuzyy feel to it. Thats the thing about Bernstein, he just cannot believe in something that can't be quantified in some way or another. He refuses to believe in the concept of momentum, he doesnt believe in protecting hitters, fights in baseball, fights in hockey, etc.
  14. QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 06:44 PM) I do like how B&B handle the dumb callers. What I don't like is the way Bernstein will try to paint a caller as an idiot if the caller doesn't agree with his opinion. Still, I'd say their show is one of my favorites. My favorite host overall is Brian Paruch - I really like his style. I listen to him whenever I happen across his show. That guy must have an apartment above the studio, he seems to always be there. Thats my only gripe with Bernstein, how dismissive he is of differing opinions. And when he is called out on it, he gets worse. But I really like his interview style, and he can be pretty funny at times. I dont believe Boers is as bad as everyone says he is, in regards to being the cartoon dog, i just think he is comfortable and sitting back and having a good time playing the village idiot. Paruch is ALWAYS on the air. He does shifts on 101.9 as well.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) Get a flickr or photobucket account. I will put it online when I get home. My work computer does wierd things sometimes

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 09:43 AM) Oh jeez, did he do the music? I knew he directed and co-wrote. I am a bit of movie music snob. I personally didn't like the music much. In fact, I thought at times, it took away from the movie. Some moments were good, but overall, I found the score to be substandard. http://www.the9513.com/actor-ed-harris-sin...coming-western/

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 09:09 AM) Saw Appaloosa last night. The plot line was pretty stale - your basic town-run-by-evil-rancher, hired guns come to town to clean up, type thing. Love triangle thrown in. Acting was superb though - it was like a cast of Hollywood's craggiest men. Ed Harris, Viggo Mortenson, Lance Henrickson, etc. All that was missing was Willem Dafoe. They all did a great job with the characters, which is mostly what made it worth watching. Sets and settings were well done too, made for a belieable feel. As westerns go, it was pretty good, but not great, overall. I'd give it 3 stars out of 4. what did you think of Ed Harris' musical debut?
  18. My dad adopted a Newfoundland from a Nefie Rescue in Wisconsin on Saturday. I dont think I have ever met a bigger sweetheart in my life. Its 185 pounds of teddy bear. And its really surprising because he had a tough life so far Im trying to post a picture, but I am getting rejected by size constraints, so I will try again later in the day when i am on my home computer
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 12, 2008 -> 08:51 AM) Probably not. Maybe a more competitive series against the Rays, or maybe even a win. But we still wouldn't have beat the Red Sox. Kind of like the 2005 White Sox werent gonna beat the Red Sox? Nobody will ever know
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 04:57 PM) I compiled 30 of the greatest moments this year into one video so I can sulk it all in. Enjoy The 2008 Chicago White Sox Soak it all in. I dont think you want to pout about it Great video by the way. I didnt realize there were so many walkoffs this year
  21. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 10, 2008 -> 09:46 AM) Hey now, dont try to bring logic in here. Apparently there are a ton of teams interested in a young, versatile, power hitting guy like Swish and we could get an awesome return for him, but for some reason the sox wouldn't be interested in a guy like that depsite already having him on the f***ing team. We could always wait till the trading deadline and get A-rod for him, right? I humbly defer to non-logic(unlogic? ir-logic?)
  22. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) I got another show for your list: Jackhead & Tenement Ruth @ PK's Oct. 25. Judging by the stuff you like, you will enjoy this rock show. SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION!!!!!!!!
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 11:35 PM) he.will.be.fine? Maybe. I look at the stats and see a horrific batting average. Worse than that, my own eyes made me sick seeing him at the plate much of his first year in Chicago. I will root for him if we keep him, and KW hugging him and saying, 'Start over in spring training' makes me believe we will keep him. But to ask somebody to praise Swisher after that horses*** season in which Oz was so sick of watching him bat he benched his ass, is asking a lot. Because nobody in the history of the MLB has ever had a bad year and came back from it, right?
