I think all of the Alien movies were severely mishandled after Alien 3. Resurrection never should have been made, it made no sense at all, the hybrid was just awful, and didnt make any sense at all (the queen has a bunch of normal offspring, then shoots out a crossbreed that just destroys her in one swipe? WTF????) I dont even want to get into how awful the Alien vs Predator storyline and efforts were. Im sorry but if you are bringing those two creatures into one movie, you better not make it a PG-13 movie, that is just a disservice to both franchises. If someone wanted to truly reboot the Alien franchise, they should check out the book storyline trilogy where Aliens actually take over earth and force the remaining humans to abandon Earth and come back and retake it. No Ripley, no Predators, just swarms of aliens against people who had no idea it was coming. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) I agree the Terminator franchise held up much better than the Batman franchise did, and about forgetting Alien 4 ever came out. I think Alien III could have been such a cool film, and it just didn't get there, but the first two films were so epic it's hard to always hit that level. I luv when you analyze

Greg, you keep confusing now and then. I saw it when it happened. I cheered it when it happened. I applaud everything Konerko did for the team.....in 2005. Now when I see him ground into a double play or pop up and slump his shoulders and practically walk to first base, it pisses me off. Im sorry that you accept that kind of play because he hit a grand slam in the world series. To me, thats just a dumb way of looking at things. Im sure that the Yankee fans could give two sh*ts about Aaron Boone right now, and he has a pretty big part of their history considering his homerun put them in the world series. it didnt tie the game, it actually put them in the World Series. Do you think Yankee fans would boo Aaron Boone? I think they would. Or maybe we should talk about Johnny Damon and everything he did for the Red Sox when they won the WS in 2004. Do you think Red Sox fans will boo Johnny Damon even though he is a part of thier "lore" and their "tradition"? i think Red Sox fans would, in fact I know they do. Who cares that he left their team for their rival? He is a part of their "tradition" and thier "lore", and he had an amazing playoffs and World Series that year, so nobody should boo him in Greg775's world. Unlike you, I can keep PERSPECTIVE and I understand that when a player is starting to suck, and is hurting the team, its gonna bring out the boo birds. Now since you think that I said that I boo Paul Konerko, find the quote where I said i am booing Konerko, because I never said it, i just understand why people want to boo him. The start of this argument was when you said that everyone is a jackass who boos a bad player. Then you said it was against White Sox tradition. Both of which I disagree with, mostly because booing a player has nothing to do with tradition, considering players get booed by white sox fans every year, regardless of status and "tradition". I stopped arguing with you because I am sick of reading your Haiku's. Stop bringing it up. how can you say this as if you are offended and follow it with this: seriously, do you read what you write? the argument shifted to Konerkos decline, which Dick is making a good argument against, it has nothing to do with booing Konerko anymore. You brought it back up

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 10:06 AM) batman 1 and 2 were alright, but boy, batman and robin was a piece of s***, that's for sure. Typical Joel Schumacher trash I didnt think Batman Forever was that bad because I thought that Jim Carrey was more or less the perfect Riddler, but it was the start of Schumacher driving the franchise into the ground. And after Batman and Robin, you can look back and see where he was going with it.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 08:05 AM) Why can't you get it through your head that Konerko has been injured for most of the season. First with a hand problem and then the oblique? Have you looked at the back of his baseball card? Its pretty good. If Konerko is the garbage a lot of this board thinks he is, then so is Swisher. Instead of replacing garbage with garbage, why doesn't anyone have any better ideas? Swisher I have seen an improvement from. Konerko hasnt looked the same since 2006, Im sorry you disagree. I understand that he has been injured this year, but now he is supposed to be better, so now what? We have to suffer through extended periods of suckage with the hope that he looks at his baseball card and says "gee, Im supposed to be hitting better now, as a matter of fact I almost always turn it around now.", and watch his defense cost us 2 games in the first 6 games he comes back? Im one of the more optimistic people on this board, but Im not gonna sit back and watch Konerko continue to slide and just accept it because you tell me to look at his baseball card.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 08:58 AM) Since he's been back to stinking up the joint. Yet, he must play. Right, and Konerko has been just wonderful

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 08:48 AM) Did you read most of the posts? And you can't find anything on Vazquez and he's been just as bad as Contreras. Except for June, Swisher is having his finest month in a White Sox uniform batting average-wise in July. He's hitting .214 for the month. He's the guy everyone wants to replace Konerko. Most people on here are like little kids the day after Christmas. Thats because when he did take over for Konerko, the team was much better, defensively and offensively.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 08:39 AM) Where are they? Contreras needs to be replaced. We see that just about every game. Vazquez has had a mirror image season, but the threads aren't there. Konerko, they guy that help bring a trophy to the southside, plays hurt, so he needs to be replaced and booed, and the guy who KW needs to replace him with immediately, has had exactly 1 good month in a White Sox uniform. Im not digging up threads to oust Vazquez from 2006 because he couldnt make it past the 5th inning, but here are two threads about Swisher struggling and taking him out of the lineup http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...t=0&start=0 http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...t=0&start=0

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 07:09 AM) If past seasons don't mean squat, where's the dump Vazquez and bench Swisher threads?BTW, if you don't think that video would own all the haters, you should go check it out on youtube. Konerko World Series grand slam. There's one that says original audio. Just watch it once and wonder how someone less than 3 years later thinks booing him is OK and claims to be a White Sox fan. Are you kidding me? When Swisher was batting .200 there was bench swisher threads, and Vazquez has been a hot topic since he has been on the White Sox because of his inconsistent nature. You guys reserve your right NOT to boo, thats fine. Im not less of a fan because I would choose to boo a player for poor performance.

The Watchmen After reading up on this on wikipedia, Im stoked for this one

I think we all might be looking at this the wrong way. What if Ichiro wants out of Seattle, and he is (silently) banging the drums of upper management so he can get out? Im sure ichiro wants a shot at winning a World Series sometime, and he isnt getting any younger, his window is closing. With the implosion of the Mariners this year, they have to be at least 2-3 years away from contending again. Im not going to say that the M's owe Ichiro per se, but he has certainly done a lot for the franchise, and im sure they recognize that. who knows, crazier things have happened. And I also agree that Ichiro is pretty much the icing on the cake for the White Sox.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) Sure we turn around a pitcher here and there but for once I'd love to acquire a guy who we can plug in right away and know that he has a great chance of success. Well, find this available pitcher, then we can discusss him

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 04:02 AM) Holy s***... seriously??? WOW. I don't think I could respect my manager after that ever again if I was a player under him. I can't believe this was so long ago already, either. lmao, please go read ANY article from the Onion, then come back and edit your post. -

But can you group Cabrera in with Floyd and Danks as a pitcher feeling his way through the league on his first shot? Cabrera has been around a few years now, this isnt his rookie year. he has experienced some success, and some failure. Floyd and Danks were both pretty new to the ML experience and have had some setbacks in their time in the major league club as well. Would you rather trust a pitcher who has amazing stuff but is having problems with consistency, or would you rather trust a pitcher who is coming off of a pretty major shoulder operation who may or may not return to what he once was?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 02:02 AM) well yeah, but statistically speaking, I have a shot at going out with Erin Andrews. statistically speaking I think you have a better shot of going out with Erin Andrews than the Orioles do at leapfrogging the Rays, Yankees and BoSox. statistically speaking, of course
