  1. QUOTE (Maxwell @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 12:01 AM) I'm surprised he said that. Guy is a huge bigot. What does that have to do with anything?
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) I don't know if any of you guys noticed, but on TV, in the 7th inning right before Quentin's homer, they had a shot of Kerry Wood flicking somebody off with both of his hands. Here's a picture. Lol... *BAMF*! We noticed
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 02:13 PM) I wouldn't say Dotel has been fantastic. Maybe I haven't studied him enough. Dotel is at the top of the MLB in strikeouts by a reliever. He has been pretty much nails save a few appearances
  4. Im trying to find something here, but I am not starting a free trial A few possible columns http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-1511462.html http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-1505265.html http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-1504986.html
  5. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) So apparently the problems aren't with Cubs fans, but morons who happens to be Cubs fans. arent they one and the same? I keed I keed or not
  6. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 01:25 PM) It's a tough search to conduct, and I too tried to look into it. I hope someone has it or I catch a lucky break soon, as I want it back because that was a good article. Do you remember what publication or website the story came from? Maybe you can narrow it down through columnists
  7. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 02:27 PM) went in to work last night and took off my jersey and put it upstairs where we keep our s***. after my shift i went up and a cubs fan i work with had made the jersey "hang itself" with a cord wrapped around it from the ceiling with a note saying "sox suck!" i'd love to sweep them. I had a bet with a cubs fan regarding the series. 2 rules, no cubicle pranks or heckling until the series was over. The Cubs fan couldnt even wait until the first game at Wrigley was over before he stapled a Cubs logo to my hat, wrote "Sox Stink, Sox Lose" on paper tiled on my desk, and emails waiting for me. Needless to say I busted him out on hedging his bet with me, and hopefully I have a good reason to give him crap tomorrow.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) It's just one game and all that. But a sweep would follow their sweep at Tampa (wasnt that their last road outing?) and would lend one to believe they are not WS locks. I know, they are really banged up. It also would make up for last weekend. It'd be great. 2-4 for the second straight year vs. the Cubs is not so great. Wasn't that the record last year? Or were we 1-5? It's just one game, but 3-3 is so much better than 2-4 and it might even make some columnists question the Cubs a bit. Nobody is a WS lock on June 29th, however, considering up until the Tampa series the Cubs had not lost 3 games in a row, and up until yesterday, the Cubs had never lost 3 in a row twice(hopefully 4 in a row after today), I would venture to say the Cubs are still sitting pretty. Even if they lose. Lets see the White Sox send the fans home delirious tonite after an ESPN primetime game.
  9. Man you really have to sift through a google search to find anything. I looked around for you a little bit, but I could only find recent mentions of the choke sign he gave, no actual articles from the 2003 playoffs mentioning Ozzie.
  10. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 12:31 PM) I grew up in Park Forest and lived in the south 'burbs for 11 years, eastern Iowa for 4 years, and northern Indiana for 7 years. I understand the rivalry quite a bit more than you seem to think. Some people take it harder than others. Its no big deal, nobody is right or wrong. The very same Cub fans that were dancing and cheering last weekend are now calling for Derrek Lee to be removed from the 3-spot permanently and want Eric Patterson, who annihilated Sox pitching last weekend, off the team. Its easy to say "yeah, these are games against teams we will never play again, its irrelevant". But at the same time you look at the Sox pitiful record vs the NL last year and you can make a case that the team would have been a little bit more competitive down the stretch if they had held their own like they usually did.
  11. This is coming from a fan of a team that blares the "Go Cubs Go" song and raises the "W" flag after every win at home?
  12. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) lol I thought I saw that as well, but I thought he must've been holding up a different finger because A. Who would be that stupid to do that? and B. Why would FOX show that? The youtube makes it look like Fox zoomed in on him while he was doing the act on purpose, but if you watch it in full speed with the sound, you can tell it was an accidental catch on the cameramans part. The announcers were talking about bullpens, and I believe Brenneman said something like "where would the Cubs be without Kerry Wood?" and they flashed to Wood in the bullpen while he was just putting his hands down after flipping someone the bird. The camera was off of Wood immediately after the shot because anyone could tell what had just happened. Im pretty sure this is going to be made into some sort of big deal when it really isnt. Who cares, Kerry Wood flipped someone the bird(well, two birds)
  13. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 12:17 PM) Maggs to the 15 day DL That could help a bit. I caught the tail end of the highlight on ESPN where he hurt himself, and it looked like he did it while turning over his shoulder to look at the ball while running towards the wall(a rockies player hit a double over his head). Seemed like an odd muscle to pull given the play
  14. Its funny how the tone changes in this thread http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/vie...440&start=0 some great quotes: LMAO, crying about an L flag Hmmm, I seem to recall a few incidents of Cubs fans throwing things at Cubs players(as in baseballs), someone running on the field to talk to Bobby Howry, Stealing a hat from Chad Kreuter, fighting Randy Meyers, etc. Dont throw stones in glass houses?
  15. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 03:43 AM) I believe they will. That sweep at Wrigley was a good slap in the face. A sidenote: Is Ozzie coming out to talk to pitchers because of Cooper's injury? Or is he just taking more charge? Its because of Coops injury. Hawk and DJ mentioned on Friday that Ozzie got permission to make the pitching coach visits
  16. That was hilarious. When I saw it, I knew it was going to cause "controversy"
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 01:03 AM) Wouldn't you love to see Thome have a multi homer game for once on Saturday? A three homer game would just about assure us a victory. Oh for one of those Thome games of the past. He should be so well rested. Thome can do that in his sleep, no big deal. I think Pablo can do that too
  18. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 07:15 PM) Hmmmm.......my mind didn't travel that road, Bri....... The way they kept showing those two girls and their mom made me think they were UW's kids.
  19. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 06:34 PM) I noticed that too...it actually annoyed me because I knew it was an accident and he didn't even catch it, nor correct himself. It's NICK Swisher, asshole. confusing someone for their father in a moment of excitement makes you an asshole? Wow, tough crowd. And yes, afterwards he said Nick, so he did correct himself. But he really didnt need to, that wasnt a negative remark
  20. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 03:33 PM) It did look like Edmonds' bat clipped him on the heel on the follow-through of his swing. eh barely. The guy is known for it. In the last Wrigley disaster, he hit a weak ground ball that went barely foul before his homerun. He was limping around, and people were talking about his injured calf, then he hits a homerun and bam, he is fine.
  21. every time Jim Edmonds does bad, he is injured. Every time he does good, he is completely fine.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 08:17 AM) I think we're going to regret not drafting CDR. PS Rose is supposedly throwing out the first pitch today, it'll be kinda cool to see him rocking a Sox jersey. Mulligan and Hanley are saying its confirmed
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 07:27 AM) Alexei is quietly establishing himself as a potential top tier fielding 2B No arguments here. Everytime the guy steps on the field he does something to surprise me. His diving catch in centerfield the other day followed by doubling the runner off first was another amazing highlight in the series

QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) Unless Short Circuit was a Disney movie, they downright stole the robot. Wall-E looks exactly like Johnny-5. There is an article with quotes from the director here, and he addresses that. He said that Wall-E was created when he was at a baseball game and he borrowed a pair of binoculars from someone he was with. He was interested in how many different expressions he could create with the shutters on the binoculars, and thats where Wall-E was "born"
