  1. QUOTE(philadelphia sox fan @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 09:09 AM) I'm saying when everything was going good, he had no problems. But when things turned south, he started to break down. Here, this was posted 36 minutes ago on ESPN. Check out the headline. money quote: And please edit your sig. Or I am going to start calling the Phillies the Phlliies
  2. QUOTE(philadelphia sox fan @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 09:02 AM) I believe he was under minimal pressure for his position that first year in 04, but once things started to unravel a little for him, he started feeling it from the fans, front office, teamates... whatever the case. If he leaves and starts over, he might become that dominate pitcher he once was. How does the first world series for a supposed cursed frachise in 80+ years equate minimal pressure? Thats just silly. He had injury problems, not head problems. His mental problems were in Chicago. And it is dominant, not dominate.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) Yes, but your post implied he couldn't handle the pressure at Fenway when he has in fact proven he can ... during a World Series yet. His problems haven't been due to pressure. Havent his problems revolved around really bad knees?
  4. I was reading that James Kim died of exposure and hypothermia, but I also read that they found him at the base of a cliff. Was he going loopy and he fell off the edge? Or did his body just shut down in the weather? I wonder if we will ever know.

    The Office

QUOTE(bmags @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) is the office on hiatus? NBC is figuring out how to smash all of thier good shows together on Thursdays, and they have been mixing and matching lately. I couldnt stop laughing while watching 30 Rock last night, I think Tracy Morgans character is unbelievably funny. If anyone watched last night, I was just about crying when he saw the Blue Man. "Blue Man you dont have no feet! "
  6. The last two pages of this thread were absolutely awesome KIAA WSFIAA C12IAA SF72INAA
  7. QUOTE(ChiSoxLifer @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) Let's put it this way, if the $25 million dollar man bunted Jeter over, don't you think he would've got reamed for not swinging for the fences? "We pay him $25 million a year to bunt?" Haha! Good one!
  8. QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) -I have stated that I believe A-Rod is a great individual HOF Player. -I do not want him on the White Sox -There other players out there that I would rather put money into - and yes some of those players have not won a championship. -A-Rod is a selfish player and I think his presence is bad in a clubhouse. -I don't believe he will be happy until he is on a team like Tampa or Pittsburgh where he can be the lone Superstar and not have the pressure of the media. -There are some fantastic players who have played baseball, but you are always asked about a championship. A player like A-Rod will always be remembered, especially if he does not win a chamionship. All of my opinions on this matter have been stated and I am not posting about this topic anymore. What is the point in arguing about this any further. What I and others say has no influence on the team getting A-Rod. How so?
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) You're honestly using championships in baseball to show how good a player is? No offense, but that's ridiculous. He's an offensive player, he can only do so much. it is the end-all be-all of all baseball discussions. if you havent won a championship, the White Sox dont need you. wait a second, why then did the White Sox trade for Thome and Mackowiak last year......
  10. QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) Hey Kyle - Has A-Rod won a chapionship? I guess that would be a correct fact that he hasn't won. Is this all you have? Championships? There are 750+ guys every year who dont win a championship, that doesnt mean they cannot win a championship in their career. Roger Clemens waited for over 10 years before he won a championship, that doesnt mean he couldnt do it. What a lame argument. You act as if he is on the last legs of his career. And why dont you address the rest of your statements? You keep saying he has a track record of having bad playoffs, when the numbers show different. Where did Arod call out Jeter?
  11. QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) Those would be my opinions. I never once stated them as fact. QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 05:42 PM) The point is that A-Rod is not a team player. He has a track record of not doing well in the playoffs and has cost his teams the opportunity to win a ring. QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) No one is questioning how nice of a person he is, but the fact is that he does not win. hmmm, those dont really look like you are stating them as opinions. It really looks like you are stating them as facts..... QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) He called out Jeter this past season in press. Radio, Paper, ESPN all covered it. Link? Arod really hasnt done all that bad in the playoffs. Of course, he didnt win any games with a grand slam like Konerko, so he must not be very good When guys are known for being jerks in clubhouses, its all over the papers, especially in New York. Good guys dont get the same pub that malcontents get.
  12. QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) Listen - We have different opinions and you are not going to change my mind. IMO he is not a team palyer and I am sure I am not the only person on this board that thinks that way. There is a reason why the New York Yankees are shopping one of the best individual players of our time. If he is so good on and off the field - Why are the Yankees shoppping him? Your opinions are fine, no one around Soxtalk has a problem with opinions. When you start stating them as facts, you get called on it. Immediately. Dont say Arod is a bad teamate unless you have proof. Dont say Arod isnt a winner because he doesnt have a ring. Its pretty simple. No one is trying to change your mind, they are asking you why you think so poorly of someone that you call one of the best individual players of all time.
  13. Bonds isnt a legit outfielder, his knee problems have turned him into a really slow fielder, and he cant get back on balls hit over his head anymore. Pods isnt a great defensive OF either, but Bonds wouldnt be much better, if any better at all.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) Yep...next year is the last year in our "window". I was really hoping we'd go all out. Not when he's pitching at Philly. Eh, it isnt over yet. I think I will wait until the first day of the season before I consider the offseason a complete failure.
  15. I caught two things on WWECW last night: Mike Knox giving Kelly Kelly a swinging neckbreaker. This was funny as hell, even though I have seen vince pull the domestic abuse angle a billion times. I knew what was gonna happen, but it still made me laugh. BTW, Kelly Kelly is hot. And the second thing I saw was the match between Lashley and Big Show. It was absolutely awful. If Lashley doesnt come up with something better than bouncing off the ropes and chest bumping/clotheslining people, he isnt gonna be around long. He is letting his chance to be a main eventer(the only reason he has this chance is because he has "the look")slip away because his in-ring repertoire is just flat out bad. Picking up Big Show, while impressive, just doesnt come off as a finishing move anymore, and that is how Lashley won the match. Who is going to save the WWE/WWECW from itself, I ask?
  16. So who are the Cubs going to platoon in center field now? Wasnt Julio Lugo an error machine last year? Boston isnt going to be exactly strong up the middle this upcoming year. Lugo can hit a little bit, but I thought he fell off when he was traded to LA.
  17. QUOTE(T R U @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) the new ECW is going to die, its just pathetic.. The only way you can bring back ECW and be successful (Something that WWE could easily do) is make it exactly like it was back in the day.. What it is now, well, its absolute garbage Watch Vince fold up ECW and change its name to WCW. I just have this wierd feeling he is going to bring that promotion back and put Bischoff in charge
  18. You would think that Hicks learned his lesson about throwing around huge contracts at Boras clients. Apparently not.

    Wii

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) I'm addicted to Zelda. Tell me, from a pure Nintendo fanboy Zelda addict perspective: How good is Twilight Princess?
  20. Someone has to explain to Britney, quick, that the rest of the civilized world (not counting Paris and Lindsey) wears pants when they leave the house. check out her 25th birthday party pic, courtesy of thesuperficial.com Im sure these outfits that she is wearing nowadays look great when they come with the pants, but she seems to forget those at home every time she goes out.
  21. my girl likes to party all the time, party all the time, party all the ti -ime....
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) It's two completley different things, and I think you would know that. You stick a Frank Thomas at 1st base. A Jason Giambi at 1st base. Hell, a Mo Vaungh at 1st base. Putting Joe Crede at 1st base would be idiotic. Plus, I can't imagine at team that gets Crede will have a better defensive 3rd baseman on the roster. Oh, i know the difference, dont get me wrong. I know that Crede's defensive capabilities would be wasted at 1B. Im just pointing out that there has been a precedent set(coincidentally with a player the Sox are supposedly trying to swap Crede with). Arod is regarded as the better SS between himself and Jeter, but they put him at 3B. Arent Arods talents as a SS being wasted as well?
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) Woulnd't that really dimish alot of the value Joe has? Not in a trade, but value to a team. Why stick a GG 3rd baseman at 1B? Remember when the question was "Why stick a GG SS at 3B?" when A-Rod was traded to the Yankees? Sometimes teams do wierd things
  24. I remember eerily similar discussions about this draft, and how great the quarterbacks were going to be. Its really hard to tell sometimes how great they are gonna be, you have to give them time. Right now, I would list them at Young, Leinart, Cutler. Mostly because Cutler hasnt even played yet and Leinart is stuck in Arizona.
  25. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) You really have a low view of KW, don't you? What the hell has the guy done that you constantly rag on him like this? *enters bomb shelter*
