Heat coach Van Gundy resigns
Kyyle23 replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Eh, Im not surprised. The Heat are good, but they should have been great for the past two years. I am sure Riley has been fidgeting in his office for a while now, and finally the pressure has gotten to Van Gundy. I think that Ron Jeremy will find another job soon enough, maybe with Brother Combover in Houston. -
I think Arnie is gonna wuss out because of the threat of riots.

Agent: Artest wants to remain a Pacer

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) Too bad Nene isn't healthy. I'd do a deal Gordon for him in a second. Why? So the Bulls can also lament about his potential while he sits entire seasons on the bench? I think not. The problem with Nene is that he is never healthy. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 03:19 AM) Dye will be here in 07 as long as he produces like he did last year. You might have some youngins next season but you still have one hell of a core: Paul, Thome, Gooch, AJ(he'll be back), juan, dye, mark, bmac, freddy, bobby, neal. Not bad. assuming Freddy re-signs after this season

Agent: Artest wants to remain a Pacer

How can anyone look at what Isiah Thomas has done with the Knicks and want to go to that team? This just further proves that Artest is insane -
QUOTE(jenksd @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 07:19 AM) My favorite part was when Jeffries hit a three, then watched and admired it, basically patting himself on the back for it. Then Nocioni came down and drained a three and just ran back and played defense within 10 seconds after Jeffries hit it. I think Noch hit a shot the next drive too. That block by Haywood on Deng was completely brutal, but I loved when the very next play Deng did the same thing and scored. Actually, that was Arenas that admired his shot. And he hung his arm way out and basically blocked Duhon from moving when he did it. I am pretty sure that Nocioni's answering 3 was the first 3 points of the 16-0 run the Bulls went on to end the game. I was really surprised at how diva-like Arenas acted in the end of the game. The refs swallowed their whistles for pretty much the whole game(which I dont mind if they are consistent), and when the Bulls came back with all of their energy, the Wizards just started crying.

The Wizards got supremely cocky when it got down to 3 minutes left, and just couldnt turn the switch back on when they tried. They should have whooped the bulls, they had them at a 10 point defecit the whole game

I think the only team that would truly benefit from a Manny-Tejada swap would be Boston given the current circumstances. Manny isnt going to transform the O's into a contender. He is going to be the star whose numbers stick out like a sore thumb on that team. Tejada is going to give the Red Sox better defense up the middle, and plenty of offense batting behind Ortiz. The Orioles have to see this would be helping out Boston more than anything.

Dan Patrick was commenting on this situation yesterday, and I thought he had some interesting things to say in regards to the "Make your own bed, sleep in it" train of thought. First, why should we pity Tejada's situation whatsoever? Tejada chose to come to Baltimore, and get paid handsomely to do so. It wasnt as if they dangled the money in his face and didnt tell them what sort of plan they were going to attempt. Tejada knew what he was getting into. Second, you can rip King Peter all you want, but Tejada is acting like the Baltimore Orioles have adopted a Pittsburgh Pirates method of getting players. Which is no method at all, get the crappy free agents and pay one guy the big bucks. This isnt true. While Angelos may have been very misguided, and his judgement severely lacked in Free Agents, but he did spend alot of money in Free Agency in an attempt to put the team back in contention. Javy Lopez, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro, Sidney Ponson, etc. The guy shelled out bucks and contracts recklessly, but he still somewhat tried. He just shelled out the money for the tail end of the steroid era, and couldnt capitalize, and attempted trusting Ponson, who was only interested in eating and assaulting judges. Third, Dontrelle Willis made 378,500 last year, Miguel Cabrera made 370,000 last year. 2 years removed from helping the Marlins win the World Series, and next year these two budding superstars are going to be forced to play with a AA team. Not once have either of these two guys made a public plea or complaint to leave their team, even though noone would blame either of them for the sentiment. Tejada knew what he was getting into, and Willis and Cabrera had no choice, yet Tejada is complaining. Interesting thoughts out of Dan Patrick yesterday. If anything maybe it will stimulate some more conversation

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 03:19 AM) What do you think are the chances of the Bulls trading for a center on Dec 15? I think that depends on someone stupid enough to take Tim Thomas' worthless ass in a deal. His expiring contract is attractive, his attitude is not. I just want someone on the bench who can produce. Not someone collecting 14 million this year and crying about it.

the refs havent really called any fouls either way the whole game though. The Bulls and Lakers have been beating each other up

I dont know if any of you are watching the Bulls Eye preview to the game, but the rundown on Pippen is f***ign awesome.

Orioles need to get rid of Angelos not Tejada

You cant oust the guy who is paying the bills. It just doesnt work. Meddlesome businessmen never seem to understand that the baseball business is much different then the white collar businessworld. See: Daniel Snyder -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) I intended for my post to satirize the issue. I've felt similar sentiments regarding people drawing politics into a fictionalized movie. Specifically, boards on IMDB highlight the odd obsession some have with media outlets heavily publicizing a movie featuring subtle, religious elements. None of which openly promote Christianity. http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Movies/12/...rnia/index.html I think this quote sums it up for me. Interpretation is up to you, take what you want from it, it is a great story.
