Bears impending QB "controversy"?
Kyyle23 replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) that was Peterson's fault. He ran into Orton. I actually dont fault either player in this situation. Orton was dropping back and didnt see the blindside hit coming, peterson saw it and tried to take a tight angle to knock off the defender. It happened so quick that Peterson nailed the ball with his helmet. the fumble was really caused by the defenders presence more than it was by Peterson and Orton. Peterson was just trying to protect his QB and Orton was just dropping back. -
QUOTE(BMac41 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Um actually i do. :rolly Ok, then how is it that you can say the Bulls dont play any defense? I thought they held their own against two teams that were supposed to blow them out, and against Charlotte they completely clamped down in the end of the 3rd quarter and for the entire 4th quarter. All things said, i think this team is pretty good defensively.

QUOTE(BMac41 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) Bulls can't play defense You must not watch the games.

Those starting lineups are decent matchups, but jeeeez-US, I didnt realize how awesome the Spurs bench was. I dont think that bulls stand much of a chance, but their only chance is if they come out smokin hot and D it up for the entire game. I think Tim Thomas is going to have a big effect in the Bulls outcome tonite. I cant put my finger on it, I have no reason why, but I think he will be big.

I am of the opinion that the owners should get a matching charge to what the Pitbull did, complete with jailtime. For example: If the pitbull escapes and does damage like what happened in Cary, the owner gets 3 counts of aggravated battery. I also think these animals need to be treated as weapons in cases like this. Its time that the owners start getting penalties that are as severe as the injuries. I think someone would think twice about owning a mean pitbull should he get a felony manslaughter charge if his dog goes off the handle. It is time to stop giving these guys slaps on the wrist, like fines and telling them they are no longer legally allowed to own dogs.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) Agreed. If the Bears make it into the playoffs, and with this division there's no reason to think they wont, then if Orton gets his act together & Jones is back with their defense they have a chance to make a little noise. If the Bears make any noise in the playoffs, it isnt gonna be because of Orton and Jones. its gonna be the defense all the way

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) With how extremely banged up he is and the way Adrian Peterson and Benson performed..... I would be very surprised if he gets the majority of the carries next week. I think Jones is going to want the ball even more now that his supporting cast had a showing like that. When he hurt his knee against the Bengals, I thought he was gonna be out a few days, but he came right back and had a couple great games. I dont think anything pushes Jones more than someone breathing down his neck

Thomas Hayden Church really buffed up for the role.

QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) They are cloose to signing Westbrook to an extension according to Comcast. Im sure thats gonna make T.O. even happier when thats all finalized. Do you feel that T.O. is underpaid? -
I think Sweetney is going to be alot better on defense as soon as his conditioning improves. Curry had the same problem in Skiles defense, when he got too tired, he started making petty slap fouls and wasnt in position half the time, so when he tried to get into position he was making fouls. Sweetney still has alot of baby fat that Skiles has to work out. I still think that Tim Thomas is going to be the steal of the deal, whenever this guy realizes his potential. Of course, the Bucks and Knicks have been saying the same things for 4 years, but hopefully Skiles can get something out of him this year considering it is his contract year. BTW, I hate Jason Kidd and Vince Carter. Damn I hate those guys. Kidd, because he is a nonstop trash talker on Skiles for no reason whatsoever, and because he values himself as a ballplayer way more than he should(even though he is damn good). Carter gets by on athleticism and unwarranted star power. No skills whatsoever, he just gets near the net, pushes people out of the way and throws it up and heads to the foul line. The Bulls played outstanding defense on him last night and he still got 28 points, on 9-27 shooting.

QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) T.O. is right though about Donovan hurting the teams record. Hes so hurt hes missing wide open receivers and Andy Reid keeps on throwing the ball. I dont watch Eagles games, but after looking at McNabbs numbers I was surprised at how much better they were than what i thought. He doesnt seem to be missing too many WRs Passes Attempted- 288 Passes Completed-170 Completion percentage- 59.0 2034 yards 7.06 yards per completion 15 touchdowns 7 interceptions 87.9 passer rating http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/133361 McNabb is actually having a pretty normal season. If you take out last year, which was fantastic for him, these numbers are right on par with McNabb. AND he is playing with a sports hernia. And to have T.O. talking about how Mcnabb is hurting the team, when T.O. just removed himself from this weeks game, and maybe next weeks game because he just doesnt feel right yet, speaks volumes on who is the team player and who is the "Me" player. T.O. is a b****

QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) what is it about frank thomas that you dont like? you dont want the big hiurt back? (please dont respond to this with crunched numbers) You need to learn to read posts better, and what they are responding to. The joke was (which qwerty ripped off from me, tyvm ) saying that "Frank is Healthy", because that is what the title of the thread says. Qwerty said it, and witesoxfan laughed. Thats all. Nothing about who wants Frank and why they dont want him.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) Really if I'm McNabb i'm telling Philly Management either he goes, or I go. Talk about a cancer in the lockerroom. I agree. But being the Bears fan I am, and knowing that you are a Cowboys fan, isnt it fun watching the Eagles lay in the bed they made? How could they have possibly thought that anyone could make T.O. happy?
-
T.O. can never stop doubting his own quarterbacks. It amazes me that anyone even throws him the ball anymore, despite how good he is. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2213282 The funniest thing about what Michael Irvin said is earlier this year Irvin got into an On-Air argument with Steve Young stating that Favre was DONE and he had nothing left in him(to which Young disagreed vehemently). Now Irvin thinks that Favre could be undefeated if he was in Philly? What a joke.

So basically Frank will get bought out at what, 3.5 million? Then re-negotiate another contract, probably with the White Sox, which will probably go from 2-3 million with incentives. So Frank stands to make around 4.5-6.5 million in the next year from the Sox if he re-signs even though his contract will state otherwise? Does the buyout count against this year or next years payroll?

And your AL Playoff, Steroid using Outfielder is..

Is anyone besides me really curious why Will Carroll said that this was a name we would care about? -
Frank is Healthy ok, I said it. Now what?

I think Ozzie is just talking, like he always does.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) I had a feeling things were going to go south for this guy when President Bush said he was doing a heck of a job. LOL, that too
-
I had a feeling things were going to go south for this guy quick when he was so defiant and laying blame on everyone but himself during his public shaming errr investigative probe into his actions.

Excellent overseer of the operation. It is encouraging to see Tampa actually try for once

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) If Curry couldn't learn how to play the right way from Skiles, I just can't see how Larry Brown will make much of a difference either. Larry's a great coach, but he's not so far ahead of Skiles right now that I think he'll be able to get Eddy to jump either. I feel the same way. And actually, I am curious about whether it was Skiles impact that made Curry better last year, or his contract situation that made him better. It should be interesting to monitor how Brown deals with Curry, and vice versa, now that Curry got paid.

QUOTE(joeynach @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) Im just playing GM here, but we all know KW, hes doesn't like to overpay or get caught up in big $$ situations like arbitration. That being said Garland is not Free Agent eligible but he is up for Arbitration again, and due a raise. I think now is very good time to offer him the longer team deal, 3 years or so. Garland definatly had a career year, 18-10 with a 3.5 ERA. Hes not going start 8-0 every year and be almost Cy Young, he is going to be a very good 3 or 4 starter worth around 5 or 6 mil (with no arbitration) if he can have an ERA under 4 and win 15+. I would love to see the sox wrap him up through his Arbitration years, he made 3.25 mil this past year. I think something like 3 years 18 mil would be great for Jon, maybe backload like 5 mil in 06, 6 mil in 07, and 7 mil in 08. Any comments. I am hoping KW can work out something similar to what he gave Buehrle

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic In medicine, a persistent and lasting condition is said to be chronic (from Greek chronos). For example, a chronic illness is one that persists for a long time, usually more than three months. By analogy, this adjective has come to describe problems which cannot be solved in a short time, or which will recur regardless of action.
