QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 11, 2016 -> 12:16 PM) I count 3 guys, and it's a doubleheader so 3 more MLB hitters are on the bench today. While I agree with your second point, they have smoked the Pirates, Cards, and Nationals too. So far they fall into the mediocre category, i wouldnt count that as a good win

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 11, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) Obviously it was a confluence of factors that led to blowing the lead but trying to "steal" an inning with Carroll was the 1st action that set the whole chain of events in order. I didn't know that Petricka was on the DL prior to the game but that said I still feel that RV was managing like he was playing the Twins or even the Royals instead of a really quick hitting offense like Texas. Carroll should have been on the shortest of f***ing leashes and in retrospect Albers was rushed into the game. RV just seems to be on "cruise control" at times. Not sure if that's because he puts so much trust (and authority) into cooper or what but he should have been much quicker to act last night imo. That said, Carroll and Sands have no place on a MLB roster. Carroll had zero command last night and was just hanging meatball after meatball over the zone when he was getting it over. come on man, basically the entire pen besides Carroll pitched the night before. Albers came in and was out of gas, Robertson and Nate were basically not available. Did you want Jennings to come in? We are looking at Carroll as the only guy who didnt pitch the night before, everyone else was pretty much on fumes -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) 1) On the road in Texas, where no lead is ever safe...don't think I'd say that about any other stadium, maybe Wrigley when the wind's blowing out. 2) The best hitters on the Rangers were due up. 3) You had the feeling all game long, especially after Desmond's homer and then the Sox only scoring one and leaving the bases loaded (again) that it was really going to play like a 3 run lead. 4) He pitched himself into high leverage and needed to be pulled after the first or definitely the second batter reached. Mazara and Odor have simply been crushing the ball recently. You can't have a guy who crushes RHP from the left-hand side of the plate teeing off on Carroll. I think I said in the middle of that at-bat I wish he'd just give up a homer and cut the lead down to 2 because those situations have a way of continuing into huge innings as opposed to clearing the bases with a homer and having to start over. It's like the line-up keeps growing more and more confident as you keep the line moving and the pitcher can never relax with all those runners on base every time he looks around. If it was 6-7 runs, you don't worry. But 5 or under, well, anything can and will happen. lmao. just stop -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 11, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) Greg, just so we are clear here: If a man with a penis identifies himself as a woman and is dressed as a woman, technically he/she should piss next to you at the urinal, correct? Or would you hold it and use a different bathroom? i have asked him multiple times and he has yet to answer. It all goes back to OMG THERE IS A PENIS IN THE WOMENS ROOM. I wonder if he feels a woman transitioning to a man should have to tell everyone about the female parts before taking a pee? We just need to make a Customs-like kiosk in front of every bathroom in the united states, where everyone has to declare what is in their pants.

The sooner we get an automated strike zone, the better
Kyyle23 replied to shysocks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
First thing that will happen is the Twins will be accused of hacking/changing the strikezone for the opposing pitchers starting around the 7th inning -
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 11, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) Nope. I've tried to be more positive lately, but this matchup looks really bad for the Sox on paper IMO. Mmmhmmmm
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 11, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) I don't have a good feeling about today. Latos + warm weather + a dangerous lineup = disaster I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see it. Do you make this post in every game thread

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2016 -> 05:41 PM) Cause the person who wants in the women's bathroom merely is saying he "identifies" with being a female. Why should a person with still has the male body part be allowed in where women/girls might have to see such body part? Shouldnt' he be the one who is inconvenienced a bit? Or is he afraid of how he's dressed might cause backlash in the mens room. If anybody hassles him, they should be arrested. No. I wouldn't try to kick anybody out of any restroom. All you do is come up with random crazy scenarios where a woman or young girl might see a "male part". No matter what you say, it all comes back to the fact that you can't imagine a penis being in a woman's bathroom. Because we all know, as soon as you enter a woman's bathroom, everyone strips naked and walks around until they go to the bathroom.

QUOTE (Dunt @ May 11, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) Still think the bullpen could use an upgrade. Would love to see the Sox go after one of the Yankees relievers, Chapman in particular. Thats a pipe dream, man. Chapman is gonna be their guy until he cant throw 100 anymore

I like when these threads pop up in the heat of the moment after a ugly loss, and they determine that the ugly loss means everything now and forever -

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ May 10, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) Yeah, that doesn't make a lot of sense. If it were in cold medicine, Mondesi didn't do anything wrong. Not true. These guys are told what they can and cannot take from the pharmacy. I'm sure he can call a number and find out if that stuff is ok to take. It is his responsibility to find out -
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) I'm not smart enough to understand that comparison. Yea you are
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2016 -> 05:16 PM) Yes, it's kind of a big deal when you have male body parts and the sign says "women" and you want in. It's kind of a big deal. Why? Why is it a big deal?
-
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ May 10, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) Total Kenny deal. Thank God he doesn't run trades. That's not a total Kenny deal, that is a misconception. KW never gave away many pieces that were highly regarded like that, more often than not he traded prospects that just disappeared into other organizations The only guy that he traded that ended up really good was Gio, and he used Gio as a trade chip twice and got some good players back.

So basically all bathrooms need security guards and transgendered people need to identify themselves as they walk into every room and building in every day of their lives. I know, we can give them some sort of ID card to present in the event that they want to go to the bathroom No big deal

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 10, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) No idea how reliable this site is but would love to get Reddick!! http://showtimesports.sportsblog.com/posts...sh-reddick.html Slusser is pretty reliable, if she says both the Sox and Cubs are sniffing around, i believe her

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ May 10, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) I doubt it. Dude was still the greatest player on the planet for a decade. When you're THAT good, people ignore the other crap. See, Kobe. I also think MJ would have been smart enough to at least try and stay out of the press. Its easy to say "if social media was around back then....", but if those guys grew up with the same social media, they would probably know how to navigate it

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 10, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) If you strip away Jackson's April in 2014 with the Tigers, I'm sure you will find he's at or below .683 (over the last two years)....that's why I said the better part of two seasons. He did have a brief recovery for one month, July 2014, then it was all downhill from the time he was traded to the M's. 1.5-1.7 WAR might be acceptable for some teams, but it's borderline. Most of Jackson's defensive stats have been fairly mixed, although the "eye test" would seemingly tell you that he's been better than average this year. And part of it's comparing Jackson to the player he USED to be from 2010-2014. He was a very good player, and he's still young, but these seasons have been pretty terrible comparably to the past standard he set. Otherwise, he would have gotten more or better offers for Scott Boras than he ended up with... Remember, I spent most of the offseason arguing we should sign both Jackson and Ian Desmond...so I'm quite familiar with his history and the fact that signing "terrible" players usually isn't a good idea. Well it isnt June yet, so we can still sign Desmond

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 10, 2016 -> 07:42 AM) Obviously, Curry's the best player in the world right now. But Hield as a collegiate player just had some unreal shooting performances this past season. Not making any sort of argument that Hield will even be an above-average starter in the NBA. how do you not understand that it is not "Steph is going all Buddy Hield" but rather "Steph is going all Steph"? You dont ever compare Curry down to a college player.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 10, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) Was Bucky ever actually given a serum? And those other winter soldiers were clearly unstable. It's like how it worked for Banner, technically. No one's ever gotten the perfect serum + vita rays combo since Cap. I mean, we can go back and forth all day but in the end you know that there are many magical fix-all mcguffins within the MCU. Sometimes serums, sometimes gems, sometimes hereditary, sometimes tiny robots.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 10, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) But the super soldier serum has been impossible to reproduce. Meanwhile, there's extremis, just, lying over there. Winter Soldier and the 6 other Winter Soldiers that Zemo took out disagree There is always gonna be McGuffins.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 10, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) This is why you don't introduce magical fix-all macguffins. Like, say, Super Soldier serum? Im glad they left the door open for Zemo to return at some point. his cryptic comment at the end was a good set up
