  1. i have to admit, the Cubs are getting some of that glare that they were previously immune to. Now the media is calling out the spring training mimes and animal shows and maddons quirks. Its interesting to hear Maddons postgame comments now, because he hasnt really dealt with this before in Chicago. Last year was all rainbows and unicorns, no expectations. Now there is expectations
  2. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) Niko's per 36 for points the last 2 years has been 19 and 17.....Is it totally ridiculous to think he can actually reach if he did indeed play starter minutes(which would have to coincide with better defense)? Post all star break he shot .445 both overall and from beyond the arc. If he can do that playing starting minutes, with improved defense, what will you then think of this team? The problem is, he was given the starting job, and he sucked donkey balls. The only reason he didnt play starter minutes in the second half is because of how bad he was with starter minutes in the first half

  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:29 PM) Calderon to Lakers Dunleavy to Cavaliers Nice. What is their return on this? Just cap space/cash?
  5. QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) You should go look up the threads. I have been part of this site for over 10 years now, and I can tell you for a fact that the off channel has nothing to do with the size of the thread But since you are so sure of it, feel free to look at the archives and cross reference the schedule to prove me wrong
  6. QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) The question was why is the thread shorter... the answer is simple and I'm 100% sure - the game is not on CSN. Do people post more when the team is losing.. maybe. But the game threads are ALWAYS ALWAYS shorter non CSN nights... I'm betting the amount of people actually watching the game drops by 65-70% Yea that reason is 100 percent wrong
  7. Hats off to Gonzalez. Very strong start

  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) JR has his own jet. Maybe Gar/Pax don't get access. After last years s*** show I would make them both ride coach buses
  10. Giancarlo Stanton's last 5 ABs: 112.9 HR 439ft 113.1 HR 436ft Walk 107.8 MPH 424ft HR 115.3 MPH 436ft HR @Marlins
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 01:54 PM) Your meltdown in this thread has been very enjoyable the past few days. He has a bad case of the rondos
  12. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) These are not healthy topics for anyone considering joining this site. Making threads about users is not healthy. Lol come on now. You are the one that keeps making the post stating that you are done with the sox and want to find another team to root for. This is all in fun and nobody in this thread has actually gotten mad about any of it
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) I saw a thing on 60 minutes about the owner a few years ago. He read a book and coached his daughter's team to a championship. They did something odd, I can't remember what, but he thought that would work in the NBA like it worked with 6th grade girls. Iirc he is wanted a cherry pick player, play 4 on defense and have a player hang around mid court for immediate run outs after a rebound

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) Incorrect. I wouldn't trade for old guys until a young core is built. I never said my team would win right now. It wouldn't. How's Rick's team doing in that regard, when he's trying to win? My point is that he's developing while service time is ticking. I was and am very complimentary of Hahn's work prior to the winter of 2014. He doubled the core in less than a year. For some reason, he started trading for rents, players at or past their peak, free agents, spending a million here, a million there on utility infielders and AAAA pitchers, before a core was built. And those trades weren't nearly as savvy as his early trades, respecting that some early trades didn't work out. At this point, I hope that Morneau works out and that Hahn successfully rushes Fulmer or Burdi into the pen. Because he's not going to sit still with this team. If Rodon has proven that he can compete and produce at the major league level, which he has, then he isn't rushing anything. You are under the mistaken impression that he will work and iron out every deficiency he has in the minor leagues and come up a finished and elite prospect and provide 5 years of 20 win seasons.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) Btw, no one pointed this out in here yet, Burdi pitched this afternoon for BHam. His line: 0 IP, 1 H, 4 BB, 4 ER (ERA is currently infinite, presumably some of those runs scored after taken out). I think this should also be mentioned, from Scott merkin Fulmer last 3 starts: 19 IP, 10 H, 2 ER, 9 BB, 22 K. Fulmer has 46 strikeouts in last 35 innings.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) Oh for the love of. It's been well established that Rose didn't recruit back then because he 1) Was the White Knight basketball fans idolize in that he wasn't "can't beat 'em, join 'em" but in that he was "Can't beat 'em, go again." 2) He was loyal to his teammates and didn't want to undermine the Deng, Kirk, etc. There's a lot wrong with Derrick's last four years with the Bulls, but his first four years he was the Heir Apparent to Kobe in that he wanted to win on his terms, would die on the court, etc. None of those reasons make it right. He needed help and we all knew it, and he thumbed his nose at the process

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) How's that development coming, all while the control clock is ticking? And if Hahn was going to let Boras make personnel decisions, then pick someone else. Tell us, what has Cooper accomplished in the last several years? Honestly, listening to yall one would think that Hahn, Cooper and Williams have actually been winning. Honestly, anyone listening to you would have a terrible team on the field and would trade away any and all players before they turn 25. Except Saladino Rodons development is fine, he shows flashes of dominance and then falls back to some bad habits. I'm disappointed he hasn't taken the same step we saw in his first year where he straight up dominated down the stretch, but I'm sure that doesn't matter to you because that doesn't fit your narrative that he hasn't progressed at all. Cooper hasn't been getting the most out of his pitchers the past couple years, I won't argue that, but your assertion that he is pretty much worthless is tiring and incorrect. You say the same damn thing all the time, we get it. You don't like Cooper and Hahn.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) If bulls sign wade, I think the plan would be for them to grab Chris paul or Westbrook and buy out rondo and then a year later when wade comes off the books they would look to bring in another star with Paul and Butler recruiting. Either way I think people realize recruiting matters a ton and wade has a ton of street cred and a year from now I think the Bulls know they will have an easier time pitching buckets and wade to potential free agents vs buckets on his own with space for potentially two deals. Just watch, we will sign Paul and then Lebron will leave Cleveland two years from now to team up with buckets and a ring chasing wade! Step away from Xbox
  19. It would be funny if Riley pulled the rug out from under Wade and he had to scramble for a deal
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 08:55 AM) I actually agree with Caulfield here. I don't see the downside in having it open. Not like rumors just start right before the deadline. Every year same thing. One week before the deadline KM is new, Caulfield.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) You really need to stop with this. You either have Rodon under these circumstances or you probably have Aaron Nola instead. Him coming quickly was part of his agreeing to sign for $6.8 million. I've been over this before though. Not to mention that what he is learning at the major league level is great for his development. But hey, ax to grind. Gotta throw in the dumb deity comments

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 07:23 AM) The affirmative decision to rush up Rodon and his stunted development as a #4 is another feather in Hahn's cap ( Cooper's as well). Cooper's continued status as whitesox deity another issue as well. You should tweet this at write sox again
  25. Caulfield stop trying to force the opening of trade winds. Jason usually opens the forum a week before the deadline
