  1. considering he usually starts slow in every level he has been at, and has been pretty successful so far, I am pretty happy with what I have seen so far. Not every player is a complete OBP machine, im not expecting every player to be one. The kid can hit, hopefully the patience shows up soon as he gets accustomed to the majors
  2. QUOTE (gosoxgo2005 @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 08:54 AM) Point taken, but if it comes down to overpaying for a Cespedes/Encarnacion type player or signing an Austin Jackson type player for peanuts and getting peanuts in production, I'm overpaying for those 2-3 good years all day. I'm not a financial whiz, and again, 150MM was the first arbitrary number that popped in my head. If a player of his caliber says "I want this and I'll sign with you", then you match that offer RIGHT NOW in my opinion. If this was a rebuilding team I'd say hell no, but it's a team that's in desperation mode and desperate times call for desperate measures. What it boils down to for me is that they have to get to the playoffs by 2019. After that everyone will be on the backend of their careers. They'll be lousy after then anyways, so who cares if they have bad money on the books? Sale/Q/Eaton/Abreu will all be on the wrong side of 30 and not as valuable as they are now. So, again, go big or go home. By then Reinsdorf will be 85ish anyways, so he shouldn't give a s*** about money. If desperate times call for desperate measures, i sure as hell hope they choose someone other than Encarnacion to spend all of that money on
  3. What was the significance of the children killing Maester Pycell? I feel like I missed something
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 26, 2016 -> 08:31 PM) 20 minutes into this finale and oh my god. 49 minutes in and still oh my god
  5. Here is to hoping that Miguel builds on last weeks start
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 08:24 PM) Peppa Pig is getting close to Calliou in the worst kids TV show ever rankings. Lol
  7. Holy s*** they showed the fan running on the field
  8. I bet the bruise on Abreu's thigh from the hbp on Wednesday is super ugly. It looked and sounded bad
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) He didn't say it though. They were trying to get him to talk about Ben Wilson. He didn't do it. The way he answered that, it almost sounded like he didn't know why
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) Man that franchise just doesn't know how to get over the hump. OTOH, Noah works best when you have a slashing PG he can clean up for and is allowed to play center. But yes, that certainly makes Lopez contract look good. I'll think of that every second of our 40-42 season. Noahs knee just doesnt allow him to do what he did before.
  11. Good luck with your first crap
  12. Rumor is that Mephisto will be the Big Bad in The Defenders
  13. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) So trading Rose was terrible because of the crap they got back (even though they got a legit NBA center and a potential roster player in Grant), but you guys are upset the Bulls DIDN'T trade Taj for, at best, a role player? Seemed like they are upset that the Bulls didnt trade him for similar value that Belinelli got. Taj is basically a role player himself, albeit a well paid one.
  14. QUOTE (Special K @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) How much again did we pay per year for the privilege of those 2? $4 million? Had we allocated that on a per year basis to someone like Gordon, perhaps it would've made the difference. Would be fine with Flowers in that instance. They offered more to Gordon than KC did, and he chose to go back.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 08:45 AM) I think the Bulls will sign 2-3 role player types and not one big expenditure. You know, you have absolutely nothing to make you think this will happen except for the entire history of this front office.
  16. I like turtles
  17. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 07:45 AM) Thank you! I mean, SS2K5 digs up something I said 2 days ago (which was said in jest, really) tries to INCORRECTLY hamstring me with it, and I'm supposed to just take it? "mmmm hat" isnt really hamstringing you as much as poking fun. now everyone wants to get all serious and exact about it.
  18. I mean, am i really reading an argument about the validity of a bet(and the qualifications of said bet) that ends in someone eating a hat? message boards ftw now and forever. CB2.0 wouldnt have eaten the hat anyways
  19. Getting to know Paul Zipser
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) I sort of agree, that Jaime is the valonqar, but why would he kill himself in the process? I agree that it seems pretty obvious what Cersei/Qyburn are doing in the show right now. Edit: If Tommen dies, who becomes king from a legal standpoint in the show? In the books it would be Stannis then Shireen (right?), but in the show? Would Margaery still be Queen?
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Feet problems suck is it his feet or from his HBP last night?
  22. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Still time for Shields to give up lots of runs, but people didn't actually think he was going to keep giving up 6+ runs every start, did they? Yes. Yes they did
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) Obvious as this happens nearly every game now, but the home plate umpire sucks is that you, hawk?
  24. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) Abreu got hit up high, only a few innings after he and Frazier both got hit up high last night. Abreu got hit in the thigh yesterday. Frazier, now his was scary
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) According to the Fangraphs strike zone stats, he's actually throwing strikes at a comparable rate to last year, but batters are swinging at stuff out of the zone notably less than the last several years. This could be a deliberate game plan on their part - can't hit him so force him to work, or it could be that he's throwing things that are more obviously out of the zone when a pitch does get away from him. That just seems crazy when he is going 5IP with 100 pitches like he has been recently. Im not disagreeing with fangraphs but he just seems like he is overworking this year whereas last year he seemed like he was easily cruising into the 7th and 8th innings under 90 pitches
