  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) If that were part of their decision making it would say a lot about how management values personal issues with people compared to winning. You don't already know this?
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 12:35 PM) Wolves get a proven All-Star vet and guy Thibs loves in Butler and they still get a relatively decent pick at 14. Bulls get an unproven player with higher upside IMO than Butler and the 5th pick where they can get Dunn who they love. Its risky from both sides but benefits both sides. I could see it. Do you think the Bulls would risk losing a trade to Thibs?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Do the Bulls have the cap room to take on almost $10 million? isnt the cap about to take a huge leap?
  4. Jimmy should probably freeze some of his swimmers before he goes

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) Where did I claim to have the FULL picture on Tim Anderson? There are obviously some concerns still...less on the defensive side than offensively. I simply asked what is a REASONABLE goal for our Latin American program? When should we expect to start seeing some positive results at the big league level? Nobody can answer that, apparently. No, you asked if the money was reasonably invested. How the hell can anyone know that right now? f*** ME i was sucked into the caulfield vortex of WTF im out

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) Nobody ever answered the question of what GOALPOSTS the White Sox have set for their Latin American development program... Just saw a list of names. How is that helpful to know whether the money invested has been spent wisely or not so far? (Yes, I know, according to Dick Allen, we won't have the full picture until 2019-2022...even though Rick Hahn will likely be long gone by then.) right, and you have the FULL picture on Tim Anderson based on one week of at bats, right? You dont like name lists?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) But you're going to see real progress out of a kid by the time they're 19 or 20. They've started playing, with very real competition, at the time they were 12-14, signed at 16 usually. I bet if you were to look at the top 100 Dominican MLB players of all time, 97-98% of them were in AA by their 4th or 5th year (at the latest) in a minor league system. At least 50% were up to the big leagues by 20-22. The ones "blossoming" at 23 and 24 are rare indeed. Now you can use the example of someone like Paulo Orlando, who's 30 years old now and has been a journeyman in the minors his entire lifetime as a professional ballplayer until 2015. Those situations are rare indeed, and that's primarily because he spent most of his youth as a soccer player and junior national level sprinter (100 M/4 X 100 meter relay)...so his baseball development was delayed way beyond where guys like Tim Anderson or Lorenzo Cain started. ORLY? Top 100 Dominican players of all time? Step out on that limb Caulfield, it is safe Where does the brazilian Paulo Orlando fit in here? Oh yea, Royals.
  9. Dont know why, but Arrietta just isnt efficient like he was last year. but like Brian said, he is still nasty AF. He just gets wild
  10. im going to point and laugh at whoever willingly trades for Tony Snell

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 08:58 AM) And that was the sound of the goal posts being moved, yet again. nothing but goalpost sized holes all over this field
  13. Lots of fun home runs
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) Wins are very important. I love how the sabes people love their advanced stats and yet the established baseball announcers and former players who are color analysts ONLY mention the traditional stats - wins, losses, ERA, strikeouts, walks. That said, I wish we'd trade Q to a team that could score him some runs for his sake. It's like Pavlov here - Q on the mound, the hitters don't hit. greg, this is the second time i have seen you use Pavlov in an example today. Thats just strange
  15. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) K.C. Johnson ‏@KCJHoop 9m9 minutes ago Bulls knew they had to address Rose-Butler dynamic. They also knew Rose was walking in 17. Hmm, didn't know it was a foregone conclusion that Rose was going to walk after next year. If that was the case, at least Bulls got something for him. Hmm, that kind of tells me that Butler is going nowhere. KC usually gets his stuff from the FO
  16. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) LMAO just so we are clear...you arent a fan of this trade, right bmags? BMADS
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 03:15 PM) Something tells me that he wont' miss as many games next with it being his contract year. Something also tells me that his recent complacent/lackadaisical style that was on full display last year is closer to what you are gonna get from Rose, as opposed to the cold blooded killer we saw in the first four years. Im disappointed in the bulls, but this is the beginning of ripping the band aid off
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Does he have control over how many runs the other teams score? I'm sure the lack of run support changes the way he pitches and a great deal of support would change the way he pitches as well. for the Garland case, maybe he had really good run support so to help the team he gave up some runs but stayed in games longer to save the bullpen and help win other games later. He may have been able to have better stats if he just left the game because he wasn't pitching as well. There are situations where pitchers stayed in games to do this and sacrificed stats. That doesn't happen as much now with the emphasis on the stats. however, this is part of the evolution of the game with 4 man pitching staffs to 5 man staffs and to the increased emphasis on the bullpen. doesn't mean i have to like it though I mean, you are just being incredibly obtuse about this in order to say Wins matter. Quintana has been on an incredible run where he is giving up 3 runs or less and losing or getting no decisions because the White Sox scored a total of 5 runs over a span of 7 starts. Quintana IS controlling other teams, and the one element out of his control is hanging losses on him.
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 10:16 AM) Yes, because wins don't matter in baseball. The teams with the highest WAR make the playoffs. Wins matter in the standings, not so much in a pitchers record. But you can go ahead and think that Quintana is as good as his W-L record indicates
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 09:13 AM) Johnson should have an advantage being able to go to the NL and to pitch in one of the most pitcher friendly stadiums in the league. If he doesnt see any success in San Diego he just isnt ever going to. It hasnt been better so far.
  21. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) I wondered the same thing, but thought maybe that was on purpose. Sansa is the "new" generation of Starks. She's not making the same honor/pride mistakes that her father, brother and step-brother have made (or keep making, in the case of Jon). More likely though it was for the sake of audience satisfaction, since Ramsay really wasn't that much of a villain in the books. Very good point as well. And think about what Sansa has seen and been through since she left Kings Landing, her dad was beheaded in front of her by her husband, her mom and brother murdered at the Red Wedding, she has been given to Ramsay as some sort of prize and he did whatever he did to her. She probably has zero sympathetic bones left in her body.
  22. I agree that it was un-stark-like, but at the same time with everything he did to her and her family I will excuse her for letting the sadistic side of her come out. And yea, Jon being buried under all the people made me and my wife cringe too. Very claustrophobic
