Ozzie still out begging for a job
QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 27, 2013 -> 09:40 AM) True. But I've seen it here for years, the more one or two people champion a certain unpopular point of view, the further to the other side the group gets. "He wasn't too bad" in the face of "he was pretty good" eventually becomes "he was the worst manager of all time" in reply to "Revolutionized managing". It gives us something to do. I haven't seen "the worst manager of all time". I see a lot of "he got worse every season after 05"

Outside of the final call, did anyone see the pitch FX chart of Dana Demuths strike zone last night? Holy f*** was he all over the place http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/zoneTr...p;prevDate=1026 Right handers had the worst of it

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Boston Red Sox
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 26, 2013 -> 11:11 PM) I wondered that as well. Who would you rather face...a decent hitter in Jay or a guy who hits like a pitcher in Kozma with a force at every base? I think the answer is pretty damn simple there. Pedroia more or less bailed out Farrell, but Salty's throw screwed everything up. FWIW, I thought it was obstruction the moment the play happened and I thought they'd actually call it at third base. The fact the home plate umpire had to call it later was so anti-climactic. I think the 3b umpire did call it, he pointe at Craig immediately

I think Middlebrooks raising his legs is what ended up being the obstruction. Crazy ending

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 25, 2013 -> 04:24 PM) Adrienne Palicki would be good I think. She was Tyra in Friday Night Lights and was supposed to play Wonder Woman in the TV show that got cancelled before airing. I think her chance is gone, that pilot is supposed to be horrifically bad

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 25, 2013 -> 04:56 PM) They can also trade a late round pick for a pass rusher with an expiring contract. Walter Football suggested Antonio Smith They already traded their 7th rounder for Rosario. I they want to rebuild via the draft, there is no need to be throwing away picks

I think that goes without saying. We knew the depth was not great on this team, and if the first line went down, the bears were in trouble. Of course Trestman isnt going to concede the season to the media, so "Next man up" is fine by me

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 25, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) This is relevant to our previous discussion http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/mike-mathen...usly-slow-hook/ In other words, Ozzie was not smart to keep his starters out that long, he was lucky they were pitching as well as they were viva la revolucionizingthegame!

I have to admit though, I love playing in cold weather. The ball jumps off the bat better, and I never get too hot. Playing in the field is kind of annoying though, my shortstop throws very hard and I usually have numb fingers by the end of the night

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 25, 2013 -> 08:50 AM) We scored 22 in the first and started screwing around, batting lefty and such. One guy, just one guy, took offense thinking we were trying to humiliate them, and we weren't at all. We seriously could've put up 50. We started switching positions for fun and I got stuck at pitcher for an inning. Had 2 Ks. My first three pitches were all short so had to put some extra Mmph into it. The other team was awful so hold my Cy young award for a bit. The Soxtalk Cy Young has already been awarded, my friend.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 25, 2013 -> 12:21 AM) 3 dingers and a triple tonight. On fire. All fields too. Love those kind of night where your swing is just always square and the OF cant do anything. Nice night! We were down one going into the bottom of the 7th and I led off with an oppo triple down the line. It felt really good. Got the game winning sac fly in game 2 also. It was a good night.

We just had an awesome couple of playoff wins. Came back from down 1 and 3 runs in extra innings to win the first game, and won the second game 17-7. Championship game next week....on Halloween night. :/

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 24, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) Can somebody give me play by play? Any matchups where various managers would start to play the lefty/righty game even with workable pitch counts? Google is free to all. Unless you live in China
