QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 03:01 PM) Never went on ours....Knocked her up too fast *shotgun cocking sound* You gonna marry that girl right now, ya hear?
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) Noah already hurt. Might miss the opener. More Nazr Mohammaed. Yay. Better now than in March. Hopefully we dont get both now and in March
  3. QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:42 PM) I've heard nobody say that "Abreu has a good glove at 1B." Cespedes said it
  4. Post away
  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) History or not, you can't scream at the pitcher literally the entire time around the bases and not expect someone to start yelling back. Whether he crossed the plate or not was irrelevant. To me, it was not unlike every other time guys start yelling at one another and the benches clear to nothing happening. The problem is this isnt the only time this season that McCann acted like that(Jose Fernandez). Whatever, you dont like it, I dont care. I want McCann, asshole or not, I just want that crap to stop. Its all good.
  6. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) I don't think you guys actually saw what happened. It had nothing to do with celebration. Gomez was directly confronting the pitcher verbally. I saw exactly what happened, and I know that Gomez and Maholm had a history. Maholm has beaned Gomez 3 times in 25 at bats, and Gomez in turn is absilutely crushing him to the tune of like .480. It isnt like Gomez just randomly started talking s***. Regardless, nobody annointed the Braves or McCann as the policeman of the unwritten rules of baseball. You dont want Gomez to talk s***? Dont bean him, and dont let him beat you. Pretty simple. McCann and AJ are both assholes, that i dont dispute, but not the same way.
  7. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) Gomez showed up everyone on the field and apologized because he knew what he did was wrong. Gomez is also quite the tool himself. That's exactly the player I want. Everyone around seemed to love AJ and that's the type of stuff he would do. AJ never did that stuff. He may have talked s***, but he didnt stop a player from crossing homeplate because he celebrated a homerun. AJ was an agitator, not a policeman.
  8. QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 09:46 AM) Hey, not that I wasn't tempted!!! Man, I would've really taken flack for that. I think Grady is retired with his playmate GF. Not that it is a bad thing
  9. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 09:40 AM) I wonder what Mr. Law analysis of this move will be.. Ask him on twitter, I bet he responds. He seems to take the bait a lot when it comes to Sox questions
  10. QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 09:26 AM) Yes, it's worth reiterating, when many of you continue to suggest acquiring more right handed hitters. If Hahn spends big money on another right handed hitter, I'll be shocked. Forget names such as Corey Hart, John Buck, Marlon Byrd etc. Moreover, there was more to my post, which only mentioned the need for the left handed hitter as the context in which I was speculating about the rest of the roster, and the lineup. What is your suggestion, beyond that I not belabor the need for a left handed hitter? Please point out the posts refuting yours and insisting on more right handed hitters? 2 new threads on players we should acquire popped up last night, both McCann and Salty hit lefthanded(salty SH of course). Plus, Curtis Granderson has his own thread as well. The idea of a balanced lineup permeates the site. My suggestion is to not point out every statement you make "I think we need an elite lefthanded hitter" as if this is some new thing that nobody has ever wanted on this team before and everyone is arguing against. WE KNOW
  11. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 09:03 AM) Love this quote from the Phil Rodgers article on chisox.com: A formula designed by Baseball Prospectus' Clay Davenport translates stats from Serie Nacional to the Major Leagues. It pretty much nailed Cespedes' stats in his rookie season with Oakland. When you put Abreu's totals into that formula, you get a force of nature who is a cross between the Tigers' Cabrera and Barry Bonds in his prime. Did Phil rip that off from Jonah Keri's grantland column from last year? Because I swear a quote very similar to that is buried in Keri's column
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 09:00 AM) Man that was exciting last night, i had no idea the decision was going to be made then. Yea, that was playoff level thread intensity last night.
  13. QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 06:24 AM) It should be pretty obvious that the single biggest need is still a left handed, middle of the order hitter to sandwich between Abreu and Garcia. They simply cannot use Dunn to fill that role. If Dunn is still on the team, he must bat lower down in the order. Moreover, he'll be gone after the season, and there are no left handed impact bats in the system, anywhere near ready to contribute. I'm pretty sure that is why there has been so much talk about Granderson. McCann makes sense, as he is not only capable of filling that role, but he also plays a position of need. Except for 2012, he has been very good vs. RHP. If they signed McCann, they could let de Aza play CF again next year, unless they can find a lead off hitter, with a higher OBP, to play there. De Aza appears to have suffered the consequences of trying to hit more home runs. If he could return to the player he was in 2011 and 2012, he would be fine at lead-off. There is still the question of his defense in CF, but he does have the tools to play there. His problem seems more mental than physical. With no other changes, the lineup could look like this, vs. RHP: CF A. de Aza 2B Beckham 1B Abreu C McCann RF Garcia DH Dunn LF Viciedo 3B Gillaspie SS Ramirez Semien could platoon with Gillaspie Must you state this in every post you make like we havent read it in every other post you have made? Good god
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) Haven't seen that one yet, but the LaPierre hit on Boyle was not pretty. Jackman almost tried to do the same thing to Kaner. It is worse. Mostly because of the look on Kronwalls face afterwards http://guyism.com/sports/cody-mcleod-knock...-dirty-hit.html
  15. If the Rangers get him, I blame the nickname thread
  16. I don't even want to post a link to Cody Mcleod's hit on Nik Kronwall it is so ugly
  17. @pgammo: Gist of opinion is white sox over Astros at $70m for Abreu. Boston went above $40m Probably posted already but whatevs
  18. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 04:57 PM) "I have news: Something sounds like Something." NBC Sports: Abreu will sign a contract. We are sure of it
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) NBCsports: Sounds like the White Sox will get Jose Abreu LOL. Sounds very professional, NBC
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) If he's a right-handed version of a younger, healthier Kendrys Morales, I'd take that. Abreu looks like he was fat a couple years ago. Looks slimmer in the WBC clips I've seen. NO JUMPING ON HOME PLATE
  21. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) While the reports that keep coming out are sounding better and better for the Sox, I still would not be the least bit surprised to see him sign with the Red Sox or Rangers. They both just like to throw around money too much. I also wouldn't be surprised to see some random team sign him from out of the blue kind of how Cespedes ended up with the A's when nobody felt they were serious contenders. Didnt the Cespedes negotiations last until right before Spring Training? I think the last minute blind rush had a lot to do with Cespedes ending up with the A's, as well as the fact that the A's gave him a relatively short contract that allowed him to start in the majors right away.
  22. Always believe in the black unicorn
  23. QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 12:03 PM) Have they ever paid big money for a free agent? Knowing them they'll sign Casey McGehee at a bargain basement price and he'll end up putting up 'good numbers". The Andrew Friedman regime absolutely has not spent big money in free agency. Draft, sign for a few years into free agency, trade before deal is concluded, repeat. It will be interesting when Longoria's deal gets close to being up.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:14 AM) I'm not sure I care about such things. Based on the Heat/Bulls playoff series, at least for now his job is "when you get a wide open 3 don't pull a Kyle Korver and don't bleeping miss every one!". That is gonna be Dunleavy's job, I believe
