  1. You guys are giving Minaya too much credit, wasn't he the one that traded Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano in his first year as Mets GM? I think Minaya is the type of GM that will give up a lot if you play your cards right. This deal needs to be centered around Lastings Milledge, the Mets are the ones that NEED Garcia. We really don't have a deep as a hole to fill as the Mets do.
  2. Chad Qualls? I bet Qualls is all for that deal, hell all he does against the Sox is give up slams.
  3. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) With the Tiggers playing the Royals this weekend, and us playing the Yankees, We can easily fall to 3 or 4 games back. The Tiggers wont lose this weekend. You're right hanger, doesn't look good. However the games still have to be played. Remember last year when Cleveland had a six game stretch against Tampa and KC? We thought for sure they would pass us up playing those weak teams...yet they didn't. The kitties are going to cool off.
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) The most disappointing thing to see was the Red Sox bullpen just mow the Sox down in the last series, while the offense struggled to get leads back that the starters keep giving away. I agree, that was a disheartening sight. However I'm still not intimidated by the Red Sox. Our starting pitchers and bullpen were just plain s***ty that series. I know that come October if we are matched up against the Red Sox, I for one will not be worried, regardless of our record against them during the regular season.
  5. No way Kenny gives up McCarthy, especially after his stellar 4 innings yesterday, or was it three? Regardless of that fact, McCarthy needs to be in this starting rotation. I'd love for the Giants to consider Vazquez or Garcia, as mentioned in previous posts, Sabean loves older "proven" players, Steve Finley comes to mind, not to mention this guy gave up Joe Nathan, Liriano, and Boof Bonser for one year of service of Pierzynski. My guess is that Kenny is packaging Josh Fields if this deal is going to be made, the Giants have Pedro Feliz playing at third base, not exactly the best option 4 to 5 years down the road considering he's 31. Also their outfield is ancient. Bonds, Finley, Alou. Jesus christ. No wonder they're after Anderson. If Kenny trades McCarthy I will be PISSED. Anderson I won't be happy about either, but I'd rather deal Brian right now than McCarthy. So Kenny...DONT TRADE BRANDON.
  6. Just got a question, hopefully someone will know the answer. Considering that I go to school in New Jersey, and have to work a LOT of hours this summer, I only purchased a 13 game plan for the 2006 season. I was just wondering if the White Sox will let the 13 game ticket holders renew their plan for the 2007 season, or do they not get that benefit?
  7. This was the same old horse s*** I heard last year when we opened the playoff series against Boston. Does anybody remember what our record was against the Red Sox during the 2005 regular season? We were a game under .500, 4-5 I believe. Did that carry over in the post-season? NO. I don't give a s*** how we perform during the regular season, who we beat, etc, as long as we get to the damn playoffs. The theory that the White Sox couldn't beat the Red Sox during the regular season was thrown around thousands of times last year....look what happened. Basically all I'm saying is that it's stupid to judge how a team will perform in the playoffs (if we get there), based off of two lousy regular season games. I really think there has been a lack of focus for our starters this year, I'm not sure what it is. Hopefully Jose has a good outing tomorrow.
  8. If I were the Cubs I'd go after Tony Pena, who is currently the first base coach with the Yanks. He did a hell of a job with the Royals in his first two years.
  9. This game has been insane, the only thing that would make it more crazy is if the Sox scored 6 runs....and Politte was credited for a win..... CWSOX45
  10. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) The mop up guy is a bigger problem than 3 starters with ERAs above 4.50? The mop up guy is a bigger problem than a starting CF hitting .170? Not to me. One problem, who is out there that is ACTUALLY a drastic improvement over what we have. The guys that we have now have proven they can shut down offenses in the past, maybe our pitching is just having a down year, just like how we had offensive struggles last year. Let's face it, there's not that many significant upgrades to what we already have for a starting rotation.
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) You know what's funny? I'm actually a little happy that Politte only gave up 2 runs. That's how bad he is. He's been horrendous, I feel bad for the guy, he has completely lost it. I really want to know what Ozzie's exact words were.
  12. I'm sick of hearing how we are 53-27, guess what guys, when we get to the playoffs that record doesn't mean s***. We cannot afford to have holes in our bullpen come October. Politte has got to go.
  13. Hopefully Cliff can shut them down here....and we can get back to work. Nevermind. Politte sucks.
  14. Thats one expensive righty coming out of the pen.....I'm really sick of Vazquez s***ting himself after getting the lead. I really would not be disappointed to see him traded on the 31st.... Only problem is that he has little trade value.
  15. Thanks for 2005 Cliff, but your days in a White Sox uniform are limited...
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 09:47 AM) I stole someone's idea about Kotex-Boy referring to Frank as the big skirt and expounded upon it a little more. So if it is wrong to call someone a f@# because of the connotations that go with it, why is it not wrong to use a term that obviously points to transvestites and/or women as lesser people as an insult? Isn't the usage of both terms basically the same, as they were meant to serve as a demeaning insult by holding up another group of people as being lesser than another? So when does Jay resign his position because of his obvious hatred of women and/or transvestites in his columns through the years? Also, does someone have the Guillen email address? I thought it was [email protected]. Not 100% sure. southsider, please mention the fact that he basically also labeled all Sox fans as "White trash" after the William Ligue incident. How come that was never brought up?
  17. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) It doesn't make a difference if it's 2% or 89% of the interview. He said it, it's out there. I don't think he's serious about firing Ozzie, but it IS interesting he made the comment. True. But it looks worse right now because it's magnified. This is baseball guys, managers get fired. It's unpredictable. Jesus Ozzie could win the World Series this year, and for some reason the Sox could finish in 4th place the next 3 years. It is interesting he said it however all I'm saying is that I really think ESPN is making a whole lot of nothing, into something. (Which is what the media does)
  18. I want to see how Politte and Hermanson do when they return from DL. If they struggle I'd have no problem trading for him.
  19. Well you guys are giving ESPN exactly what they wanted. Honestly guys, how many seconds of that interview did they show? Do you think, just think that maybe 95% of the interview had to do with praising Ozzie, and maybe just maybe the last 5% of the interview was Kenny Williams warning Ozzie that if he doesn't calm down that he may have to make a managerial change? All I'm saying is don't jump to conclusions about this s*** until you see the whole interview, which will be aired tonight. This is exactly what ESPN wants, they're most likely making something out of nothing. The producers at ESPN probably looked over the interview, and heard those words come out of Kenny's mouth creamed their pants. Why? It's simple, they want you to question, they want you to wonder if Kenny is serious about firing Guillen. It's television, THEY'RE FORCING YOU TO TUNE IN AND WATCH THE WHOLE GAME AND INTERVIEW. They did this because they knew that most Sox fans would start questioning and discussing what the hell Kenny meant, and if Kenny was going to fire Ozzie. (Which is exactly what is going on here). As far as I am concerned, ESPN can kiss my ass, Mariotti and his buddies can kiss my ass, PTI can kiss my ass. For all of those fans that were complaining about how we don't get enough national media attention...well we got it now, and I'm sick of it.
  20. Mariotti claims that Ozzie needs "Psychological help" :rolly Mariotti is loving every minute of it. Jay Mariotti truly is an attention whore. :headshake
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 12:12 PM) Picking up Jon Garland would single-handedly increase the Devil Rays' total salary expenditures by over 20%. They are simply not going to take ANY of our current starting pitchers not named McCarthy; they are all too expensive. Not always the case. I could see Garcia being dealt if the Sox paid for most of his salary. I highly doubt that Kenny will move anyone in our starting rotation...at least right now. During the off-season I really think Freddy is gone. CWSOX45
  22. Nevermind. The Rangers activated him and put Wasdin on the DL. Disregard this thread. DAMMIT. I really wanted him back.
  23. I didn't see this posted in the forum anywhere, and the search function wasn't woking so I thought I'd bring it up. Isn't it possible for the White Sox to get him back from the Rangers? I thought that if he was taken off their 25 man roster at any point during the season he'd come back to the Sox? I haven't heard anything, and I know he is on the DL but isn't he supposed to come off soon? I've been in Puerto Rico for a week, so maybe I missed it, can someone update me?
