QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) You know, the fact that we not only trade with China, but basically support their economy even to the point where it hurts our own pretty much makes any argument about not wanting to deal with a country for moral reasons kind of hypocritical. Couldn't agree more.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) So improvement doesn't matter to you? I guess your small, prefect world is pretty lonely. How do you feel about countries where the unions try to take away secret ballots, so they can intimidate those that vote against unions? How do you feel about countries where anti-union workers are routinely harassed and assaulted? How about countries where unions make back room deals with companies, and sometimes even governments, without the membership knowing? I would wager that on an evil scale, the SEIU has done worse to workers by sheer volume than any supposed attacks against union people in Columbia, which is still not proven to be by the government. Where is your outrage towards relations with Cuba?

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 11:09 AM) Out of people who probably want the gig, though, I think Biden is the best person for the job. You're right about it not delivering a state, but I'm really thinking about VP performance after the election and not performance as a running mate. Not delivering a state and losing 2 Senate seats. Personally I'm a big fan of Biden. He would make an interesting Sec of State.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 07:03 AM) That was quick.... The Raiders have signed first-round pick Darren McFadden, the team announced Thursday night. Contract terms were not disclosed, but it's believed to be for six years and $60 million, with $26 million guaranteed. McFadden's contract represents a 40 percent increase in guaranteed money over last year's fourth overall pick, Gaines Adams. The Raiders will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. ET today to formally announce the deal. Jun. 6 - 8:13 am et As a Raider fan this makes me quite happy. -
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 09:49 AM) I don't. I think it will be a liberal northeastern senator... That would be foolish in my opinion. Lose 2 Senate seats? Nah. It should be a former or current Governor or someone else not currently in office (i.e., Wesley Clark, Edwards, Daschle). And it should be someone that will help him with a key swing state. A northeastern Senator would do little in that capacity.

So is his role to come in during mop up time and give up enough runs to make it interesting? -
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 01:54 AM) I watched Ravenous earlier today (and it's coicidentally on IFC in half an hour). Great film for anyone who enjoys a blend of horror and black comedy. Hmm never heard of it. Pretty recent flick?

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) i am just jokin around. I am in no way serious. In fact, i thought i heard he went back to NY. Don't quit your day job.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 12:40 PM) you mean the cars? No, it was regular cars, not reporters. Not enough info to start insinuating anything.
-
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) Ok, let's connect the dots here. (I am not being serious, but I think it is funny). Last night it was reported that Barack and Hillary were meeting at her house in DC. There were cars outside the house and a news van. It later broke that the meeting was NOT at the house. So, what where are the cars doing there? A reporter joked that Bill's gonna be surprised by all the news vans when he goes out in the morning to get the newspaper. Wait? Bill... home "alone" with cars in the drive way? hmmm, What was slick willy doing? hmmmm....... Wouldn't those be reporters assuming that the meeting was taking place at the Clintons' place?

I look forward to seeing where "Small Wonder" finishes on the list.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 09:41 AM) Hot button issue for me. If he is going to s*** all over the Constitution like Bush has, then maybe I really can't even bother considering voting for him. As a former professor of Constitutional Law I'll give Obama the edge in dealing with these types of matters and I already know Obama's stance on this particular issue.
-
Here's a pretty big reversal of thinking by McCain. He now backs Bush's warrentless wiretaps. And he has the nerve to question why Obama links him to Bush?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 08:20 AM) America's like Obama because he doesn't make them think too much? Does this give me permission to post snark in the Procain thread?

I've got a good feeling about tonight.

Oh boy. He'll need to do a better job at connecting with the average American. Using references to people that 9 out of 10 (if that) Americans wouldn't know is not going to help him. This is worse than Clinton's Xerox comment in the debates. Sounding like they're past their prime.
