  1. The MLB feed online won't work on Google Chrome. There is live coverage now on the feed. Try Internet Explorer or another browser.
  2. He's a lifelong White Sox fan. If nothing else he won't want to embarrass himself and will want to make a name for himself. I don't believe 11th overall picks get paid that well? It's not like he is set for life. If he works hard for 6 years he can get himself a 100+ million $$$ guaranteed pay day. They have some of the best training facilities on earth in AZ and a great training program. I'll admit he kind of reminds me of the kid in Trouble with the Curve but it's probably just his size and accent. An arm bar is different than a hitch, no? He may never pan out, but if anyone has some extra reasons to succeed, this kid has them. Excited to have a couple mashers in the system with Sheets as well. We're the Chicago White Sox for crying out loud. Excited for today thanks everyone for the scouting reports and input. A lot of us don't know anything about any one of these guys.
  3. The difference between the 4th and 5th spots vs 6th spot shows again. Important for our next two years.
  4. For anyone having issues try the link in Internet Explorer not Chrome. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/210960834/v14...mlb-draft-day-1
  5. Always have liked the Reds. Seem like the White Sox of the NL. Both play in hitter friendly parks, south of the lovable losers in the state, usually powerful lineups and some great former players. Also both played spring training ball in Sarasota. Best of luck to Greene. Anyone else having no luck with the online video feed?
  6. Nice article by ESPN on best players from each draft slot since it started in 1965. They based everything on WAR. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1955342...every-spot-1-30 McCutcheon, Scherzer & G Springer best at #11. Sale best ever at #13. 2nd best pick at #16 is....Brett Lawrie. My thoughts are that you really need a top 3 pick to have a chance at a superstar and a top 15 pick to really even have a chance at anything more than a crapshoot.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 23, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) And it looks like he then replied "send your observations to Lake nobody cares" Yep. He's clever. I really wasn't looking for a fight and made sure not to name call or swear. Just tried to stand up for Chuck. Oh well no loss I didn't follow him anyway. Just shows again how rude he is. Poor Chuck has to play the ass kissing game but I don't!
  8. I tried to take the high road with him and stand up for Chuck. He really just is a jerk. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"> He quickly blocked me after telling me "it'll be a cold day in hell before i take advice on professionalism from some coward tweeting from behind a pseudonym"
  9. If anything is 100% true Keith Law is an insecure jerk who bullies people like Chuck who he feels are beneath him. He could have made his point in a much nicer less defensive way. What a POS.
  10. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 20, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) Obviously he's a big step up from Robin. What will be interesting to me is if he'll still be around when the Sox become good again or will the Sox go out and try to get a "big name / big profile / history of success" type manager. If you think the Chicago Cubs would have won the 2016 World Series with Renteria as manager then you should want to keep him. If you think Maddon made the difference, then we should upgrade when the time comes. No one will ever know, and the Maddon hiring was an excellent move proven to be correct, but I still just didn't like Renteria getting fired despite doing a great job because a better option came available. Similar to how I don't personally feel good about college football coaches leaving the season early to take a dream job, but I completely understand and would do the same thing. Maddon was the right guy to get, and they had to do it, but it wasn't fair to Renteria. It's not like a manager will take over and start throwing complete game shutouts for us in 2019. I believe the manager needs to keep his clubhouse motivated, be respected by all, be able to converse with his players and avoid making excuse-less mistakes. From everything I hear and see he seems to be on the right track on all fronts and he hasn't even been here for half a season. Kudos to him, Hahn, JR, Kenny, Jose & the White Sox on the Robert signing. Keep up the good work. Don't stop now boys!
  11. Nothing confirmed. Pathetic people still creating duplicate accounts for real sources just to break fake news. Pathetic. I apologize for falling for it.
  12. His account went private but it does not mean you can't see his profile photo. It seems like it is a last ditch ploy to drive up the Cardinals offer but I honestly take it as at worst a good sign.
  13. Can confirm the IG photo change. This may be it but don't let yourself get happy yet...
  14. Q is a terrific #2 SP who has numbers that suggest he is a poor man's #1. Anyone without that view either doesn't know Q or is incorrect (as has been proven time and time again by Q). If he is on a contender that has a good offense and doesn't play in a bottom 5 pitcher's park he gives you 200 IP in 30+ starts and 15-20 wins with an ERA under 4. If it's a NL team that ERA might be closer to 3 than 4. End of story. That NL scout might not have a job for much longer. Way to embarrass NL scouts as a whole. That won't be appreciated. *I'm not fluent in advanced baseball statistics. I won't attempt to act like I am but we have enough advanced Q stats in this thread already.
  15. Seems like the top industry people that know Dave D best immediately think Devers + for Q so what does that look like? I think he's off limits but if Buster Olney tweeted it specifically "industry speculation" there could be something there.
  16. How long during the regular season do you give these guys like Davidson and Asche a chance to succeed? I keep seeing people suggest Davidson gets a chance in the MLB. How many ABs or Games (Non-DH) is your definition of "a chance" exactly? Does Davidson get a longer chance than Asche? Does Avi get a longer chance than both? When is enough enough? Then how long do you give the next man up a chance to prove himself if he's not a top prospect and just someone you are trying out? Maybe this is more of a topic than post. Just interested in seeing your opinions.
  17. Nothing you haven't heard but 27+ minutes of White Sox baseball talk. Didn't see it posted anywhere else. http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/mlb/6925...te-sox-check-in Edit: Also...this https://twitter.com/GreenvilleDrive/status/...616510602989573
  18. Hey Houston... 2016 Stats of Napoli (New TEX Ranger) vs Quintana http://www.rotowire.com/baseball/vsbatter.htm?id=12329 22 4 .182 1 0 1 3 2 9 0 1 .364 .250 .614
  19. Anyone think it's also in small part to the fact that most teams have now been burned at least once, sometimes many times by a big bad free agent signing? Which teams have been burned the most?
  20. Great information. Very informative. My question is how are there 4 guys who have a very good shot at playing on the MLB team this season not in the Top 30? How is having the talent to make the big league club, even for a few games, not enough to get you on a top 30 prospect list for a MLB team? Just an honest question interested in your answer. Even in our rebuilding situation I'd have to think nearly half of the top 30 prospects you're about to name will never play a single MLB game, no? I'd think a very good shot at making the team, this season at some point, should get you automatically into the Top 25 even in a deep system. Maybe you can explain your thought process behind this? I'm not saying Matt Davidson has to be a Top 10 prospect we have because he's going to get a chance, but you are surely going to name some high ceiling kids who haven't even played AA ball over a guy who has a small (very small, I'm not a Davidson fan) chance at becoming a MLB regular this season. I would just think that reaching MLB, even as a 25th man, has more real value than a high ceiling at a very young age.
  21. Seems like it's a 2 horse race now. I think the Astros offer up a slightly lesser package to the one they supposedly offered for Archer as their final offer. Hahn goes back to the Pirates and says it's Meadows, Glasnow & Newman or he's going to Houston. I think the Pirates cave and agree. He's more valuable to PIT than HOU ultimately. I'd like to see Q on PIT. I'd watch them this year and hope they can compete with the Cubs.
  22. Bryan Hoch of MLB.com writes that the Yankees continue to have dialogue with the White Sox about left-hander Jose Quintana. The Yankees haven't been willing to meet the understandable high asking price for Quintana thus far, but Hoch notes that pitching is the priority as the club prepares for spring training. "I think we'll stay engaged in the marketplace, and over time, if we do match up favorably with anybody where we can get what we want and they get what they want, then yes, we'll try to pull something down," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said on MLB Network. In addition to discussing Quintana, Hoch notes that the Yankees have shown at least some level of interest in free agent right-hander Jason Hammel. As of now, Masahiro Tanaka, Michael Pineda, and CC Sabathia are the only pitchers who will go into spring training assured of rotation spots with New York. 23. I definitely forgot about D Marte. When he was on he was unhittable as a lefty out of the pen.
  24. While we are waiting for more rebuilding and there are countless Best of and Top 2016 .... lists out I figured this might be fun. Give your favorites at each position for your White Sox Fandom as well as the years you can remember (start at a young age you actually remember).
