  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 04:24 PM) there's a difference between gloating over someone's death and the idea that there should be no criticism and that the hagiography should be allowed to paint the highly controversial person as a saint.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 10:09 AM) Yeah, my point is, they don't do that in the UK. If they thought you were a s***bag when you lived they'll call you a s***bag when you're dead. Here, if you do that (even if it's someone who wasn't shy about doing the same thing to others when they lived, and it's clear they wouldn't have cared) everyone will wag their finger at you and you have this awkward waiting period. Didn't you threaten to ban people for bashing Ted Kennedy after he died? Oh wait, I think that was Balta who did that. Nevermind.
  3. QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Apr 8, 2013 -> 11:15 AM) I'm not sure whether to start with wine or beer this evening. oh wow an Irish person getting drunk. that really is a rare circumstance.

  7. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) Somehow I missed the coverage of this story on the network news. The Democrat party didn't include it in the nightly news script sent over to the major networks.
  8. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 11:31 AM) Guns worked, not the most ideal set of circumstances but it defused the f*** out of that situation. i would have simply shot him a 5 or 6 times after his initial punch, then drove off. quick and easy resolution. situation defused.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 03:34 PM) this is essentially what I think happened in the Trayvon case: http://gawker.com/5992400/caught-on-camera...getting-beat-up Dude follows some people, gets out of his car, starts an altercation, gets his ass beat and then pulls a gun. that guy got what he deserved. don't start fights like that. now he's going to jail, which he should be.
  10. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 11:47 AM) 1) Holmes is not afraid to disagree with Bernstein whereas Boers just parrots whatever Bernstein says. 2) Bernstein is less of a douschebag when Holmes is on. agreed

  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 11:36 PM) Alexander County must be purged from the state of Illinois WHAT THE HELL IS THEIR PROBLEM. They aren't even on the Indiana border. go Illini
  14. Hawks end up losing. The Ducks are very very good.
  15. Good game so far. Hawks have been outplayed most of the game but still lead 2-1 and seem to be gaining momentum.
  16. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) An Ipswitch, Ma., middle-school principal has canceled his school’s annual honors assembly because it was too upsetting for some students. Boston’s Fox affiliate reports the explanation of Principal David Fabrizio, the man at the center of the silliness: “Honors Night, which can be a great sense of pride for the recipients’ families, can also be devastating to a child who has worked extremely hard in a difficult class but who, despite growth, has not been able to maintain a high grade point average.” Fabrizio also justified his decision by claiming it was unfair to reward good grades — which can be be influenced by the home environment and supportive parents — because not all of students have access to equal amounts of academic and emotional support. Simply change the system so everyone gets an "A" in every class by default. Then they can all attend the awards ceremony.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) This is just incredibly scary. It ought to send some shock waves through the Euro and the markets. Sounds like something the Democrat party in the US would do
  18. http://www.politico.com/story/2013/03/trum...l?hp=f3?ml=al_2 take that, Obama.
