  1. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) Can we just fast forward the regular season and go straight to the Heat vs Lakers finals for the next couple years? That would be a smart move.
  2. Flapship ‏@TheFlapship Bulls extend Coach Tom Thibodeau four-years in a deal that could reach $20 million. #NBA #Bulls https://twitter.com/TheFlapship/status/252868291264118785
  3. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) If we sign MB instead of Danks, MB pitches the entire season which Danks misses most of. That adds up to a few more wins in my book. Regardless of the collapse, we have a better lead then 3 games before it all went downhill and are competing for the division in this last series if not still ahead. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Yeah, but then we roll with Peavy-Buehrle-Sale-Quintana-Floyd most of the year. Also, we get some nice prospects for Danks. The above two posts are ridiculous and make it seem like getting rid of Danks was an obvious move.
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) Take this FWIW, sometimes my guy on 35th street is right, sometimes he isn't. - Don't expect KW to stay long as President, there just isn't enough for him to do. Basically it's a "job well done" spot for him until a desirable GM job opens (Dodgers?) my guy is a pro KW guy by the way. - When I asked if Ventura likes being a manager he said that he likes the teaching aspect of the job. - Hahn thinks "very highly" of Guillen. When Hahn thinks they have a team ready to win Guillen would be at the top of his list for managers. They think Guillen is burnt out and would benfit from a year away from the game. My guy laid out a scenario where in a year or two Ventura replaces Buddy Bell as director of minor leagues and Guillen returns as manager. Guillen (obviously) won't return while KW is still with the organization. While my guy did not say Hahn is anti-Ventura, he did say he was tight with Guillen.. All this kinda surprised me because wasn't there a dust up between Hahn and Guillen on twitter? Any post that suggests the White Sox could re-hire Ozzie Guillen someday is a worthless post in my book. You'd see Hawk at GM again before Ozzie would ever manage this ballclub again.
  5. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) Some of that is these companies exploiting leftover feelings from the analog era, where higher quality cables DID make a noticeable difference. With digital, unless you are talking greater distances, it doesn't matter. And a lot of it is impatience. Sometimes people don't plan ahead, and the expensive (ie - more than $2) HDMI cables are in the store ready and waiting for purchase the day you buy your shiny new 50". People would rather pay the sticker price than wait, and most people don't ever plan ahead. The price of those cables is simply the retail markup for the convenience. They make a boatload off the uninformed/impatient, and tossing an extra $30-$50-$100 on the old Best Buy card really isn't a problem for Joe America. Hence economic meltdown. The moral of the story is that people are stupid and retailers know this.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 11:13 AM) The new NHL sucks. The gameplay is fine, except the only way to score goals is via rebounds now. One-timers and breakaways it's almost impossible to beat the goalies. I'd like to slap past-Steve for this post. Once you learn the intricacies of this game, it's fantastic.
  7. QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 10:51 AM) If Dunn goes 0 for 11 in the Cleveland series, his average will fall below .200. I hope it happens.
  8. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 07:01 PM) What an epic choke. I'm stunned. This was the worst sports weekend I've had in a long time. The Sox continued to fall apart, Tennessee lost, both fantasy football teams lost, and America lost. The only thing that salvaged this season for me was Looper.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) I've heard from a lot of my casual-fan Sox friends and they said they didn't follow the team closely this year cause they knew this would happen. They knew on paper we didn't have as good a team as free-spending Detroit. A lot of fans won't pay attention unless we win going away. They knew we didn't have the makeup for a division winner. You sure know everything.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 02:53 AM) I can't believe there's 5,000 members. It seems only about 20 people post. It makes your head spin. Do the quiet non posters recognize Greg's posting style? Do they they think I'm an idiot or a brilliant baseball mind? Why don't 1000 of the 5000 post more? There's a lot of posters out there, actually.
  11. I hope everyone is happy they secured these elusive joke tix.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 08:21 AM) At least Fitzgerald has been producing for a couple of weeks for me, but other than that every one of my players has been under-performing. I'll be about 200 points behind the league-leader after this week finishes up. At least I listened to myself when I posted on Flapship that people should be stealing Alfred Morris in the final rounds of their drafts. This was well before the season started, btw. http://flapship.com/guy-you-should-be-draf...-alfred-morris/
  13. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) FML this is 3 out of 4 weeks that I play the team with the highest point total in the league, how annoying is that? My team is actually doing good but I cant do anything about going against a team that already has 114 points. Same here - high points against me weeks 1, 3, and now 4 barring craziness tonight.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) Fn RunDMC Yeah, I paid a hefty price for him, and he's done nothing.
  15. What a waste of a season. Tear it down. If you can find a taker for Rios and Dunn, give them away.
  16. Looper was really, really, really awesome.
  17. That was a really well-written story. Congrats!

    2012 TV Thread

    So Downton Abbey is great.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 02:42 PM) And we have member #5000 http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showuser=8892 I rated him as a 5 star poster.
  20. This has been just a blast to watch on my second hd monitor at work. The crowd is electric.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) The only thing you rallied was the Royals s***tiness. Nice work. The Royals' s***tiness was already well in place when the Rally Crede made his 2012 debut. The fear instilled in the Tigers allowed the Royals to make a game of it, but just watch tonight. The Rally Crede wins out.
