Proof that Umps hosed us in Yanks series
Colorado Sox Fan replied to BigSqwert's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Lousy umpiring, I'll agree, but how 'bout if Thome gets a hit instead of meekly bouncing out? -
ST Poll: Who's the most clutch player on the Sox?
Colorado Sox Fan replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jim Thome clutch? He hasn't had a clutch hit since about June. You can't use stats for this one. You have to go with you gut. -
I hope that they do right by Freddy and send him to a contender, since he is such a big game pitcher. Pittsburgh or KC sound like good choices.

Top 3 web gems in White Sox history
Colorado Sox Fan replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The fisk play will be #1 because it involved a Red Sox legend and it happened against the yankees. I was at that game and it was pretty amazing, just because of the surprise factor of having two guys to tag. The Uribe play has gotta be there. My third would be in 2000 when Chris Singleton stole a HR away from someone on the Tigers to help preserve a 1-0 victory for Jim Parque. -
The mental midget vs. Mussina? Ugh.
-
If Riske does his job, maybe Sox win. Another ESPN game where we're getting blown out, make an incredible comeback and then fall short. Ugh. Jim Thome, please do something one of these days, meaningless solo homer, strikeout or walk isn't cutting it. Win ballgames for us, stud.

Can you get a key hit once in your life, lard boy?!!!!!!

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) AJ and Cintron really f***ed us by swinging at balls that were out of the strike zone. Anderson hit it hard, but it was right off the end of the bat....if he only had gotten a little more wood on it...who knows.... They had Villone on the ropes and AJ bails him out by swinging at crap. Cintron...what do you expect, this guy would not make half the rosters in the majors and would be the 25th man on the rest. They should both be fined for swinging at balls out of the strike zone. That's poor.

I still have the scar on my knuckle from when I smacked the ceiling of the hotel room with my fist. It was one of those textured ceilings.

Oh no! This has ruined my day. I eagerly await those rankings from the most informed source of sports news on the planet.

No.

Bobby Jenks. I remember him. Maybe one of these days he'll get a chance at a save.
-
Terrible how Verlander is wilting under the pressure of a pennant race, isn't it?
-
When has anyone gotten it right before? No one ever speculates correctly about what Kenny will do. If we trade I don't want Soriano, especially if BMac is involved.
-
I don't want to trade BMac. Not for Soriano. Don't give up BMac.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 12:13 PM) Just last week, most of this board wanted The Widge to be crucified. Today, we're wondering if anyone held his hand as they broke the news to him. Interesting.
-
Couple thoughts...maybe Sox handled this as quietly as Pollite, but Cliff didn't speak out, Widger did. Who's to say Sox haven't mentioned his prep to him? Widger is the one who says they didn't. Phil Rogers says MB will benefit from Alomar's return. I forgot about their relationship. Hey, he can't hurt.

The 1960 Yankees were 40 games over .500 and won it going away. I think it was more about them then a letdown for the Sox, who finished 20 games over .500 and had a pretty good year.
-
Phil Rogers mentioned the 1960 comparison a couple of days ago. The similarity he raised was: "the pitchers who did great in '59—Early Wynn, Bob Shaw—were expected to do the same thing the next year, but they couldn't. They were worn down from the innings, the complete games, it took to win the pennant. It takes a toll the next year." I like the moves that were made in the offseason. Vasquez looked like a good pickup. Thome is a great addition. The bullpen makeover has been a wash. Difference is, last year we ran away from everyone. This year, Tigers and Twins are fighting it out with us.
-
After the rough go Mark had late in the year, he pitched a gem when we needed it most in game two of the alcs. Everybody remembers the aj play -- MB doesn't get enough credit for how he kept us in that game. I'm not giving up on him yet.
-
If I didn't sit through three miserable games last September at US Cellular vs. the Angels, I may be feeling differently. They lost the Friday night game when MB kept giving back leads and there was a brain cramp with Vlad on base, allowing the winning run to score. Garland got shelled in game two and the offense look listless. On Sunday, El Duque was hammered from the get go and the offense again looked dead. After that series and a bad loss that followed in KC, I didn't have high hopes of a recovery. But, baseball is very strange and you never know what turns the season will take. I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid, but I'm also not ready to panic.

I've actually been very impressed with the way DJ has prepared for games. He's improved a lot. The last game I watched, I thought he did a very good job of providing inside information. Hawk's act wears kind of thin, but I love the excitement he brings when the Sox do something good.
