  1. GET Excited, dude. We're going to reclaim the wild card lead tonight!
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) A statement would be a sweep of the Twins this weekend led by 3 straight quality starts from our rotation. There you go. That would be a statement. Too bad Garland can't pitch in the Twins series too. It would be nice if Count gets it together and outduels Santana on Saturday.
  3. We won't see him until Tuesday at the earliest.
  4. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) I don't want to hear 'this might give the team the momentum they needed'. We've heard that 100 times this year already. I think it's more that we escaped with a win. A loss tonight with all the blown chances would have been nasty. Go Sox!
  5. How can the leadoff hitter bounce into a DP? He never ceases to amaze.
  6. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) Cause that might make them bite on a Buehrle trade in the off-season? Don't they have a decent hitter?
  7. When the team struggles, Ozzie's terrible. When we're on a roll, he's a genius. Proven players like MB, Count, Garcia, Thome, Pods have failed us in the clutch. That's why we're not where we want to be.
  8. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) It's all Mark has to give. One has to wonder if he just is worn out from last year or if this is gonna be the Mark B of the future. He done. Cowley wrote today that it's a done deal that Garcia and Pods will be gone next year, maybe Uribe. Not a big surprise, but didn't know it was pretty much decided...thought they could keep Big Game and dump Head Case and that mgmt likes Pods more than people on this board.
  9. Yup. Mr. Big Game going for us. The slide stops here!!!
  10. In. How can you be out when your team is leading in the Wild Card race even if they are playing like crap?
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) My most memorable moment of teh 2006 season...The Sandy Alomar acquisition. But look how he's helped MB
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) on paper those are tip the cap games, but watching them, none of those pitchers had their A stuff, Sox hitters played right into their hands On paper, we used to have "tip your cap" starters like Conteras and MB.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) So are we going to keep tipping our caps? We tipped our cap to Hernandez and Bernero last week. How about our starters pitch well enough that the other team has to tip their cap? Yeah. The tipping the cap crap is getting kind of old. Throw the damn caps out and play baseball.
  14. Oh no. The co-writer of the Sox' fight song died? Talk about a bad omen. :-)
  15. Hey, we didn't lose ground to the Red Sox.
  16. We still have the Wild Card lead. We can still put a hurt on the Tigers. Minny will have their stumbles. Boston is imploding.
  17. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) I know others will suggest they didn't hold out much hope for victory, but nevertheless, I'll never shrug my shoulders when our ballclub faces Santana. Continue believing every matchup is an automatic defeat and results such as tonights will repeat themself. In all honestly, their offensive approach wasn't too bad. Strikeouts were limited and consistent contact was made. Even Brian Anderson put together quality AB's. It's pathetic, IMO, that Minnesota continues to gain ground even WITHOUT Liriano. If he were healthy and starting Minnesota would have already eclipsed us for the Wild Card. Our own manager and players didn't hold out hope for a victory. The game was lost before we walked on the field. KC knocked him around a little, why couldn't we?
  18. This off season can't come fast enough, when, I hope we dump Garcia and Vasquez. This off season can't come fast enough, when, I hope we dump Garcia and Vasquez.
  19. They should have just gotten on the plane for Detroit last night. Reading the comments by Ozzie and others, they lost this game before they ever played it. Santana's a very good pitcher, but the way they were talking, they had given up before the first pitch was thrown. They need to find someone to replace Thome, he's spent.
  20. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:51 AM) Another f***ing small ball post? You'd think leading the majors in RS would be enough to f***ing convince people that the way to score runs is to get on base and hit home runs and doubles. The problem has been pitching, it's been the problem all year. The offense IS THE BEST IN BASEBALL!!! The problem is not the offense, it's not a lack of "small ball". The problem is that MB, JV, and to a lesser extent FG, JC, and JG have all s*** the bed this year. Add Neal Cotts and Pollitte to that list as well. Yeah, small ball worked last year because our pitchers were holding opposition to 2-3 runs. This year, we'd be slaughtered if we tried to play for one run. I do think the boys are swinging for the fences a bit too much at times, but the problem this year is squarely on the starters or lack thereof, in addition to inconsistent bullpen that has allowed some games to get out of hand.
  21. “I tried to stay in the game, keep it close,” Garcia said. “If we don’t really hit too much, where are we going to be?” For any pitcher to make that statement after immediately giving back leads is a disgrace. Mr. "Big Game" can't get out of here fast enough.
  22. The blowout win in the first game of the series was the worst thing in the world for this team.
