Thoughts on Baines as 1st base coach
This is a major issue. Raines beating throws to the bag each inning helped psych out the other team's fielders. We've lost an important edge. I believe Ozzie thinks he will be better served by having Raines on the bench. He's looking for more input or a different view. I will miss Harold when he's gone.

Sox Hire Chris Singleton to Join Ed Farmer
This duo is a serious downgrade from last year, with Farmer moving to play by play and another "learn while you earn" announcer in Singleton. I'm just glad Rooney was around last year so we have his post season calls. Farmer just doesn't have the same excitement.

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) I got all the stuff about 3 weeks ago, but the baseballs were the last thing I received and they all shipped seperately. I got the baseballs within about a week of getting the coin. same here

I Really Enjoy
ESPN.com: The World Champion Chicago White Sox have traded for Javier Vazquez, adding pitching power to a starting rotation that included four pitchers with double-digit wins last season.

What Sox championship memorabilia do you recommend
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) It's well worth it, especially if you can figure out a way to display all of them instead of keeping them in the box. Mine arrived with no ship confirmation email before hand- i found that kind of interesting. Same here. Ordered it from Dick's. Great set. I got it for my son. I'm gonna have to order one for myself.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) The Box Card Set that you can order off the sox website is pretty good. There are 55 cards in it, half are highlight cards and the other half are player cards, with one giant team card. I just have to figure out a way to put these in a frame. They are a great snap shot of the post season highlights. Very nice buy. Oh man that sounds great. I have that on order, but it hasn't arrived yet. My son is dying to get it. (me too).

I just received that Monopoly game in the mail. That thing cracks me up! It's great. The Tribune and Sun-Times books are on their way. Any reviews? I saw on amazon that Red Sox fans trashed the Boston Globe for their book, which was riddled with errors and omissions.

Congress to look into 'deeply flawed' BCS
I have no problem with the BCS and this is pretty disgraceful for a Congressman to want publicity so bad.

Champion's spoils: Sox sell out 2 sections
QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) I'm going to miss the old days of going to the nice empty ballpark, walking up buying bleacher tickets and sitting wherever you want. Sell outs left and right, while good for the team, will actually dissappoint me a little. Oh well, more money for team will hopefully turn them into a perennial contender. I hear you! Good and bad.

Spring training..

Blum Returns to Padres
Yeah. I won't miss him, but I'll sure remember him.

Blum Returns to Padres
This caught me by surprise: Series hero Blum signs with Padres November 17, 2005 Free-agent infielder Geoff Blum, who won Game 3 of the World Series for the White Sox with a tiebreaking, two-out solo home run in the 14th inning at Houston, agreed Wednesday to return to the San Diego Padres. Blum agreed to a one-year, $650,000 contract. Blum started last season with San Diego before being traded to the Sox on July 31. He would earn $25,000 bonuses for each 50 plate appearances starting with 200. Blum was used sparingly by the Sox after they obtained him, hitting .200 with one homer and three RBI in the regular season. With the Padres, he hit .241 with five homers and 22 RBI. He hit well during May, when the NL West champions went 22-6 to set a franchise record for wins in a month.

For you out-of-towners, the SI commemorative edition (not the hardcover book, but the special magazine) is now available at Amazon for $7. They also have a good package deal on the tribune and sun-times books. I found the Sox Monopoly game at this site for $29 + $9 shipping: tisinc99.com They say it's in stock, while amazon said it wasn't going to be released until January. Now, if General Mills decides to distribute the Wheaties box in Colorado, my life will be complete (until someone comes up with some other item that I must have, like the DVD Brooks mentioned).
