  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 7, 2007 -> 06:44 AM) I heard on one of the Saturday morning radio baseball programs (I don't remember which station's) that Garland and Konerko are considered to have the greatest trade value. That could be why. Garland will be with the Sox on Opening Day, along with ARod. You guys listen too much to the idiot sportswriters in Chicago, who have never been correct in anything they write about possible Sox moves. Just because Cowley says Garland is gone, doesn't make it so.
  2. QUOTE(Calderon @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) Did nothing to deserve this. How could you possibly know that? As a third base coach, I think he did a good job. But Ozzie says he wants more from that job, so he's going with someone else. Makes perfect sense to me.
  3. Sign ARod. Bat Richar leadoff. If ARod stays with Yanks sign the little guy from St. Louis and bat him leadoff. Sign ARow. I'm not making more of him than he is, but Jones is past prime. Maybe Torii. Keep Garland. Trade Contreras, Erstad, Pods and minor leaguers for a serviceable fourth starter. Use one of the kids as fifth starter. Trade for bullpen help. Hope Crede is recovered. Hope Ozuna is recovered. We're going to the playoffs next year. Have faith. We can do it. Kenny can do it. The PLAYERS can do it.
  4. He was talking about ARod. We are getting ARod, unless he stays with the Yankees. If he ends up somewhere beside the Yankees and it's not on the South Side, I will be extremely ticked off at Mr. Williams.
  5. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 12:28 AM) It's a shame college baseball doesn't get the pub that college basketball and football do. It's easy for people like greg to say "f*** the draft" when more than likely he has no idea who's gonna be in it in the first place, or who's good. greg, you know who Lebron James is, right? What if there was a HS or College kid projected to be as good at baseball as Lebron was projected to be in basketball. Would you rather see your team win meaningless games, or would you rather them lose so you could have a chance at a once in a generation talent? There's a reason it doesn't get the pub.
  6. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 08:19 PM) He ain't killing me. 33 home runs and counting! Way to go, Jimmy. You've put together a fine season stat-wise after all. Woopdee dang doodle. We needed these in June. But they wouldn't have happened because the games actually meant something.
  7. I like the intangibles I see from Fields. I'm not a stat guy. I don't pay a lot of attention to OPS, VORP, JFK, LSD or any of your other acronyms. What I like is he's had quite a few meaningful hits late in games. A lot of players hit HRs when the game's a blowout one way or another. Seems to drive in runs in key spots and plays with some intelligence. He does need to cut down on the strikeouts. I saw something I liked in the KC game last night. In the first inning, he hit the fly to CF and instead of standing there and watching the ball like 99% of Major Leaguers do these days, he ran hard and turned the hit into a double. Uribe probably would have watched it all the way and been thrown out at first. There's a lot of room for improvement, but I like his game. I don't think he's a Jeff Liefer, who complained about not getting playing time while with the Sox, and then when he was given a chance elsewhere, he proved that the Sox were right.
  8. QUOTE(max power @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 05:12 PM) At this point in the year, everyone should root for them to lose, even those who wouldn't before. Thats my opinion. Never.
  9. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 01:57 PM) Tony Larussa as White Sox manager 1983: 99-63 1984: 74-88 Shouldn't that line be, LaRussa would never have allowed the Sox to collapse - again? Excellent. Very astute observation.
  10. That's it walk the ballpark, you worthless piece of..............................
  11. Yes!!! Big win tonight. Although, I would like to see the Bengals win the division over the Tribe.
  12. This is great news!! Great job, Kenny!!
  13. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 07:26 AM) Today we're looking at an uncertain future at best, and we have a dreadful radio team, and a not so hot pair in the TV booth. I agree. I don't subscribe to the radio broadcasts anymore and the TV team is horrible. It's bad enough that the team is awful, but those guys, especially DJ, make watching the games even worse. His inane banter is taking years off my life--running his fingers down a blackboard would be preferable. Earlier this year, it seemed that he improved and at least provided some new information. Now, it's the same drivel game after game. It's incredible that the organization allows him to broadcast their games.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 10:09 AM) Yeah, I think that some of those 00-04 teams really pissed me off...because a lot of them should have been a lot better than what we actually saw. I mean, I'm still bitter about that Loaiza ill vs. the Twins game in late 03 where Esteban really shouldn't have started at all...and the game Cotts pitched in Yankee stadium, etc. Agree with you totally on these years. We had talent to get the job done, but underachieved. And, we hadn't won a championship yet, so the clock was ticking. Also, 1984. We should have come back strong after winning the division the previous year, but that team collapsed.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) (I know Kenny plans on it contending Yes anoth er championship season
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) Can it be a former player and member of the coaching staff. Then you know my answer. What's wrong with Joey Cora?
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) If you could punch one player on the current sox roster, who would it be? The smug Jon Garland.
