  1. It's not a bad idea, i like revisiting old traditions...but i find this quite ironic with the new advertising gimmicks at Wrigley being introduced.
  2. Thanks for the offer, but it says a valid photo ID has to be presented. I emailed whoever sent me this email, i'll probly email Brooks i guess. I think this was a great idea to reward people at Soxfest, but i don't think it's very convenient to make it out to the box office for many of the winners.
  3. If you were at soxfest and filled out one of those cards with your info, you may be a winner, check your email. I forgot to check the list at soxfest (not that i knew where it was either), but got this email this morning: Problem is, i'm in Champaign. You have to go to the friggin box office to buy tickets? Brooks Boyer, this is not one of your better ideas.
  4. Yeah, the Tribune Co isn't fooling anybody. Advertising on the scoreboard, in the dugouts, and now behind the plate permanently. Nice touch boys.
  5. In other news, cubs fans won't have any clue who the guys on the field in front of them are.
  6. Texas didn't score for the first 6+ minutes of the 2nd half, let OSU get back in it, then slowly pulled away. OSU had some real bad foul trouble tonight.
  7. Good to meet you as well Wilkes, helluva weekend. I-L-L
  8. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Something i need to add. me and brian (illinikrush) got our pictures taken w/ hawk right after each other. So on my digital camera if you look at one of the pics and switch to look at the next, it seriously looks like we just magically teleported bodies because the backdrop is exactly the same, as is hawk's posture/expression. Pure hilariousness Yeah, it's quite odd.
  9. Oh man, Steff's headband...i'm not going to say a word, just sit here and laugh. For the record, Steff tried to kill me, or at least someone did...whoever shoved that last mug into my hand and had me double fisting is what put me "over the top" i think, lol
  10. So i'm alive despite Steff's attempt to kill me (to be fair, there were others involved with this effort as well)... Soxfest was an absolute blast. I thought the seminars were pretty cool, but the best part was just hanging out with everyone on this board. This board has some great personalities on it, and i enjoyed spending the weekend with all of them. I wish we could do this type of thing more often. To anyone that has any doubt about going to soxfest and/or meeting some people on this board...don't hesitate. As Mike (SS2k5) said, there was a little bit of drinking involved as well. Soxtalk runs up a hefty bar tab over a two night period while holding down the bar. And while i may have been "sleeping" until 6 on saturday, i still made the KW and Ozzie seminar (most of it...) and i made dinner a bit late and received a nice ovation. However, at least i didn't spill half a drink on myself at the bar. That honor would go to the one and only Jason. That same night (Saturday), some of us had an epic breakfast at 4am while jamming into a Civic. Getting Keith and Steve into the bar was sweet, i told them nothing would happen (and by nothing i meant the worst that would happen is they'd just get told to leave) and i protected their drinks when security was around. The faking the "security" bit on Keith was just priceless. Only thing that sucked about the weekend was that same jacket that Steve and Keith bought on Saturday for $50 went for $75 on Sunday. They wouldn't stop laughing about this. One final note, i am not "Steff's man", no matter what Carl Everett says.
  11. For those of you that think saturday's game somehow proves Illinois will lose a few games this year...what a "great prediction" Still rolling, so everyone can keep talking and being unimpressed. Amuse yourselves i guess.
  12. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) 149 row 9 for 2 of us Booya!
  13. I'll be wearing a black Buehrle jersey with blue jeans and a blue Illini hat all weekend
  14. PTI right now... Kornheiser is dressed as the ace of spades. It's freakin hilarious
  15. I'm a fan of this, good step in the right direction here. I esp like the offseason testing.
  16. So Illinois rains threes on penn st...now we're gonna get POUNDED with tstorms... http://www.weather.com/weather/map/61820?from=LAPmaps
  17. The easier money appears to be UNC -11, glad i took it. KU with an alley oop to open the game, not good. Off to the Illini game after another minute or two of this game.
  18. Go clones indeed, i'll be at the illini game so i won't see it.
  19. Basketball is nowhere near as physical as hockey. To an extent, football isn't either. Football has more physical play, but the hits in hockey are far more intense. Emotions run much higher in a hockey game because of the physical play. It's part of the game, and without it you'd have stickwork and other cheap shots all over the place. I don't think hockey fills the stadium by using it. Most hockey fans are hockey fans because of the other facets of the game. Fighting just adds to it.
  20. Because that's the way players have policed themselves for decades. Furthermore, it adds something to the game - any good fan can tell you that. It's part of momentum and the toughness that hockey is all about. It's hard to explain, but it really is part of the game. I don't live for fights, but they certainly have their place during the course of a season.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) And PSU's 3rd leading scorer is in the hospital. They move a frosh into the starting line up. That line is a steal. Not really. My guess is that the starters don't play much in the 2nd half. Weber wants to get guys more time, including Carter, McBride, and Pruitt. Will we be up by 28.5 at some point? Probably. Garbage time may result in Penn St covering.
  22. Yeah, that's what i mean i guess.
  23. I like the current idea of increasing the widths of the lines, making each zone bigger without increasing the actual ice surface. The biggest improvement the game could see is if the refs called obstruction in the neutral zone...EVERY TIME. I don't care if there are 25 penalties a game the first 2 weeks. If you read enough interviews with NHL players, their biggest beef is with the amount of obstruction in today's game. It's one thing to say you'll call it, it's another thing to actually enforce it to a T.
