  1. I have seen two different pitchers for the Expos. Whitesox.com is saying T.J. Tucker on the home page. However the game preview says John Patterson. The newspaper this morning also said Patterson. Patterson: 1-2; 3.57 ERA; 22.1 IP; 21 K; 6 BB; 1.01 WHIP Patterson is also coming off of a stint on the DL with a groin injury. Buehrle: 7-1; 3.65 ERA; 91.1 IP; 73 K; 20 BB; 1.34 WHIP If Buehrle can keep up the pace, we may see him on the hill in Houston.
  2. Lets Go Buehrle! I am 1-0 with game threads, I thought I would give this one a try.
  3. American Hostage Beheaded Report: American Hostage Executed Friday, June 18, 2004 RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Terrorists in Saudi Arabia reportedly have carried out their threat and beheaded American hostage Paul M. Johnson Jr. (search), the Arab satellite network Al-Arabiya reported Friday. No independent confirmation was available. Thousands of Saudi police had searched Friday for Johnson, three days after the terrorists who captured him gave the government 72 hours to free Al Qaeda prisoners in exchange for his freedom. Johnson's wife appealed for his safe return on Arab television Friday. "Please! I want him to come back to see me. He didn't do anything wrong," Thanom Johnson, said in interview on Saudi-owned satellite TV channel Al-Arabiya (search). "I've never seen him having any problems with the people here. Never." In Johnson's hometown of Eagleswood Township, N.J., relatives held a vigil Thursday night. Johnson's kidnappers released a videotape of him on Tuesday night saying they would kill him unless the Saudi government released all militants in its prisons within 72 hours. The Saudis have rejected the demand. Police went through several Riyadh neighborhoods from Thursday night through Friday morning, but authorities gave no indication they were any closer to Johnson, a Lockheed Martin (search) employee who was kidnapped Saturday by a group calling itself Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. The organization is believed to be headed by Abdulaziz Issa Abdul-Mohsin al-Moqrin (search), the top Al Qaeda figure in Saudi Arabia.
  4. A fellow NJ citizen has been lost. May God take care of his soul. My prayers are with the family on this sad day. My prayers are also with those in power who had to stand idle while this was going on, it could not have been easy.
  5. Cameron is playing with a broken finger right now. He doesn't want to have surgery until the season is over, but it has altered his swing, and he is clearly in pain at the plate. The broken finger only worsens his struggles at the plate. I would not trade for him.
  6. we didn't play well against the twins...what else is new?
  7. Just checked that out... once again, Congratulations to Queen Prawn and FlaSoxxJim Generic Congratulatory Message: (applause while presenter walks to the podeum) Ladies and gentleman, I stand here in front of you today preparing to shake the hands of two of the greatest people in America. Two people who we have watched develop the traits and characteristics of responsible Americans. I am reminded of a time when America was safe. When we kept our doors unlocked, and let our children play with strangers. However in this modern age of terrorism and homicide we look to the good people, the responsible citizens who will know the value of friendship and leadership. We look to people like (looks down at scribbled handwriting on notecard) Keen Pawny and FloSookJyme to carry the responsibilities and burdens that come with becoming an esteemed member of our society. We will look to them for guidance, and strength. These two special people will surely make us all proud in the journey towards success. Today we make things so complicated. In my day this was my calculator(holds up hand, and wiggles finger), and this was my computer (points to brain). But in this time when we have become so dependent on technology, certain people work hard to ensure that humanity is still greater than any machine. So to (looks at notecard again) Keen Pawny and FloSookJyme I would like to say, once again, congratulations and keep up the good work. Thank You (applause)
  8. I didn't get the memo...new mods? If so congrats to our new mods
  9. Beckett has yet to figure out how to dominate in the regular season like he did in the postseason last year. Lets hope he doesn't put it together tonight. Go Sox! Another big game tonight Astros vs. Cubs (Oswalt vs. Rusch) :fthecubs
  10. Last year my brother arrived home when we got everett and alomar. He comes home again tomorrow
  11. Until he can harness his pitches that talent will be lost with 5 BB's per game.
  12. I wouldn't mind Livan. Benson would be ok...but please not Armas or Jennings. If a change of scenery returned Jennings to his old form it would be great, but right now he couldn't get the ball over lake michigan.
  13. Stone Cutters, Monorail, or Barts Comet as far as favorites go. Best quote when Homer see's Milhouse and Bart dressed in Marge's clothes: Homer: "Hey whats going on in here?...and I want the NON-gay answer!" Milhouse: "We're drunk...really, really drunk"
  14. I go to Yankee stadium pretty much every week that they are home. So far I have been to 10 yankee games this year. I am not a big fan of the team or the stadium, but I like sitting with the bleacher creatures...plus it is closer to me than Shea.
  15. Both teams make out ok in this deal. However the Mets aren't going to do anything until they add a good middle reiliever, and possibly another starter. They may have the league's best ERA, but they do not have the league's best bullpen or rotation.

  17. Hey everyone pavano has a perfect game! jinx applied.
  18. Any questions about Pavano's ability to pitch and his tenacity on the mound were more than answered last october.
  19. Do they choose the all star starter based on most wins, or best winning %? I noticed Buehrle has the best win %, it would be neat to see him start the game (of course he would have to keep it up from now till the game).
  20. As a lefty who has had some control problems in his career, I think Shoe could really teach a thing or two to Cotts.
  21. I don't think any corner outfielder should be payed more than 11-12 million a year (unless you are barry bonds, or larry walker at his best). I think it is relatively easy to find a guy who will hit .280-.290 with 20-25 homeruns and a respectable ops at corner outfield positions for 5-8 million. Mags is a great player, and i would love to see him back. But he is not Vlad, even if he wants vlad money.
  22. Since I don't get to see all the games I can't offer a full analysis. Though I can say, that I have gotten that impression too. It seemed more prevelant early in the season; Willie has shown a lot of improvement as a hitter.
