  1. I despise nationally syndicated sports radio and I only listen to the local sports talk stations, no matter what city I am in.
  2. Hoping to see the movie tonight. I don't agree with many of Moore's arguments, but his movies are entertaining. I am hoping Moore put as much humor into this one as he did in bowling for columbine. The only part I did not like was the charlton heston scene. I was actually hoping heston would smack moore across the face.
  3. Big time upset. Go Russian Blondes!
  4. I have heard mixed feelings about the Red Sox lately. They are falling quickly, but it is hard to deny that if they make it, Schilling and Pedro could carry them deep into the playoffs. So are the BoSox going to be able to turn this ship around? Or will 2004 be the season that wasn't in Boston?

  6. Lawmakers want UN in Nov. 2 Election WASHINGTON (AFP) - Several members of the House of Representatives have requested the United Nations (news - web sites) to send observers to monitor the November 2 US presidential election to avoid a contentious vote like in 2000, when the outcome was decided by Florida. Recalling the long, drawn out process in the southern state, nine lawmakers, including four blacks and one Hispanic, sent a letter Thursday to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan (news - web sites) asking that the international body "ensure free and fair elections in America," according to a statement issued by Florida representative Eddie Bernice Johnson, who spearheaded the effort. "As lawmakers, we must assure the people of America that our nation will not experience the nightmare of the 2000 presidential election," she said in the letter. "This is the first step in making sure that history does not repeat itself," she added after requesting that the UN "deploy election observers across the United States" to monitor the November, 2004 election. The lawmakers said in the letter that in a report released in June 2001, the US Commission on Civil Rights "found that the electoral process in Florida resulted in the denial of the right to vote for countless persons." The bipartisan commission, they stressed, determined "that the 'disenfranchisement of Florida's voters fell most harshly on the shoulders of black voters' and in poor counties." Both groups vote predominantly Democratic in US elections. The commission also concluded, the lawmakers added, that "despite promised nationwide reforms (of the voting system) ... adequate steps have not been taken to ensure that a similar situation will not arise in 2004 that arose in 2000." Thirty-six days after the November 7, 2000 presidential election, after several state court interventions and vote recounts in numerous Florida counties, the US Supreme Court ruled in favor of Republican George W. Bush, awarding him all of Florida's 25 electoral votes. The ruling tipped the balance against Democratic contender and then vice president Al Gore (news - web sites), who with 267 electoral votes lost to Bush's 271, only one more than the minimum 270 needed to clinch the presidential election. ----------------------------------------------------------- No sense in having another controversial election. I don't want courts picking the president again.

I believe you have to follow several steps to get into a service academy. It is not just an apply and wait type deal. I'm not quite sure how it works, but I believe you have to get a letter of endorsement from you governor and stuff...but I may be wrong about that. I would check out their websites. I am going to Georgia this summer, so I will tell you how that goes. What are you looking to major in?
  11. This is actually far from the truth. I was sitting in the bleachers Tuesday and when they showed cheney there was no initial reaction. I turned to my friend and said "Do these people even know who Dick Cheney is?" Finally a low rumble of boo's and cheers emerged from the stadium (people must not have been watching the jumbotron), and a minor "4 more years" chant broke out. While a ton of people did boo, the image was up there for a good deal of time, and neither the boo's nor the cheers were overwhelming. If anything, I would say noone cared because a-the yankees were kicking boston's ass and their fans only cared about the 'boston sucks' chan. and b-boston fans were too depressed to boo. As a Time's subscriber, I have grown to love the liberal slant it puts on things...but this appears to be simple misreporting.
  12. I watched her play that american woman today on ESPN. Sharapova is increasing tennis's fan base already. And she doesn't grunt or yell like some woman tennis players, she has a soothing moan
  13. I wonder what contender Barnaby will be traded to this season??
  14. Actually I think he is a perfect cub announcer because he epitomizes the fans.
  15. pretty remarkable considering that he hurt himself, but I have seen better catches. Jeters play against the A's in the '01 ALDS was superior.

I don't know if I was just called a dips*** or if that was sarcastic. (feelings of stupidity)
  18. I actually had an argument with a neighbor recently over ACDC's most famous song. I believe that "Shook Me" is acdc's trademark song. My neighbor contends Back in Black is their most famous song. While Back in Black is their best album, it is not even close to being their most famous song. Best AC/DC songs, IMO 1-Shook Me 2-Highway to Hell 3-Thunderstruck 4-TNT 5-For those about to rock 6-Back in Black 7-Hells Bells 8-Dirty Deeds 9-Shoot to Thrill 10-Jail break

A few of each. I have found that the recruitment ones have been better so far, but that is pretty logical.

Just in case Man of Steel and Steff take this thread wildly off-topic, I would like to throw in a question now... If I didn't like the first one, will I like this one?

I have spent the last few days on college visits, and I still have 4 more to make this summer. I have learned one thing...each college says the same thing Ironically the college with the best presentation thus far was the college I thought I wouldn't like. That is why you can not judge a school before you see it. Anyway, I am now accepting pity for having to drive hundreds of miles to hear unoriginal rhetoric.
  22. Runs in the family...I have pictures of when I was a baby, crawling around in a White Sox diaper cover
