Looks like you're all set to vote for Bush
  2. Its about that time again. Summer practices, newspaper stories about the senior who finally wants some playing time, and of course new coaches trying to get their programs to buckle down. Anyway, College football discussions are usually pretty spirited on this board and many colleges are represented. Go Blue! I'll be in section 37 again this year. Predictions: ACC: Florida State Big East: West Virginia Big Ten: Michigan Big Twelve: Missouri/Texas-Texas Pac 10: USC SEC: Florida/Auburn-Auburn Notre Dame: 7-4 FedEx Orange Bowl: Texas over Michigan Hiesman Winner: Brad Smith, Missouri Why I made my Picks: FSU: Chris Rix is a Senior, Leon Washington is awsome. WVU: Marshall/Harris/Henry is one of the best 1-2-3 combo's. UM: Top Recieving Corps. should beat moderate schedule Mizzou: Brad Smith Texas: Young and Benson will outrun the Sooners USC: Tons of Talent, weak conf., will lose to V. Tech in week 1 UF: Talent overcomes incompetent coach, UG loses to LSU, Auburn Auburn: Campbell, Williams are Seniors and will beat LSU and UG
  3. Its been a joke watching SportCenter and ESPN news the past few days. They have shown the same interviews with the same people a dozen times each.

  7. btw, thanks for the link Apu. Nothing better than a sight that is open to both sides of the spectrum.
  8. Am I the only 24 fan here?
  9. Slash fits into the sig well, however Braylon Edwards was hard to do because the light blue wall behind him shows through his 'fro.

    No fellow socialists out there
  12. Garland still looks like a four pitcher to me. How I wish he would show us a bit more consistency. So if we actually do manage to lock up Garcia, do we still try to resign Loiaza? I would make getting another halfway decent starter a priority. I want 4 guys who are capable of going 200 innings.
  13. Don't forget we won a game despite being held hitless against the Yankees
  14. Hitler lived a pretty high class life in Austria as a child, and aspired to be a painter. Noone has ever said he was akin to the working man. I said he used their plights as a platform to gain support in Germany. I did not say Hitler recieved 30+% in the election. The Nazi party did. That gave them a majority in the Government and they appointed Hitler. He then erased the other executive branches, through political manueverings which, as you said, included intimidation.

Select Smart This questionnaire uses your answers to the issues to help you choose a candidate. It said I match 82% to the socialist Party
  16. Point noted...though I am 100% positive I have seen posts to the affect of "republicans are elitists". Because you have studied this period your whole life, I suppose I can't teach you anything new on the subject. I can give my understanding of what went on, and if I am wrong, perhaps you can correct me where needed. -WWI, treaty of Versailles leaves Germany in a state of disrepair, both economically, and mentally. Inflation is so high, that Germans are taking wheel-barrows full of money to buy flour. -The Government of the Weimar Republic is not affective in restoring faith in Germany. The factory owners are having trouble keeping factories open, and the lower class is jobless and starving on the streets. -Hitler meanwhile has already attempted to overthrow a government and was arrested in the Beer Hall Putsch. When arriving back in Germany, Hitler finds the Nazi party struggling for leadership. -Hitler takes the helm and inspires the workers with his eloquent speeches, and his enthusiasm about restoring Germany. -In the election of 1932, the nazi party recieves more than 30%, and appoints Hitler in command. Hitler does some political manuevering and erases the rest of the government. -Under Hitler, ALL CLASSES benefit, and rich and poor are once again proud to be German. It is my understanding that the upperclasses of germany did not support Hitler until the financial success began. As the Nuremberg Laws began to restrict Jews, the economy was rebounding so much that the new laws did not cause much of an uproar in mainstream German Society. As for Henry Ford his support for Hitler was because he disliked Jewish people, and I am amazed that this is not mentioned as often as it probably should be. As for the Patriot Act. I actually attempted to print it out once, but I discovered it was over 100 paiges long, so I had to stop. Lets look at some key terms in it though: 'Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism' That is the short title in a nut shell, but how far are we willing to go to prevent terrorism? That question means everything. I am not as familiar with the Patriot Act as I should be at this point, so I can not carry on a full lenght spirited discussion. But if the majority of American people think that giving up civil rights for safety is reasonable...then I can't criticize this act. But I can say that this act does not make me feel any safer. If a guy want to blow himself up, only the guy standing next to him can stop him. Hopefully though, this act will prevent large orgainized attacks like 9-11 from occurring.

    pick one

toaster ovens are on crack...logical choice. As for all the people who have decided to call hi8is annoying, or have told him to bug off...if you really find what he says annoying...then don't read the f***ing thread. That is all...carry on.
  18. How 'bout that race in Daytona last night 4 Wins this year
  19. Saw F 9-11 last night. It was very well made, I enjoyed watching. While listening to Moore's arguments, I did not lose sight of where those arguments are coming from. Moore was very effective and made bush look like the worst president we have ever had(with the exception of Buchanan)...now the question is how far did moore stretch the truth?

  21. Ooops, I thought of another similarity. This "I believe in America" stuff Kerry keeps spewing sounds like the german nationalism rhetoric that helped get Hitler into office. Again, to find similarities in this argument you really have to reach.
  22. FlaSoxx I hope you are prepared to do som reading, I think you may have opened a can of worms. It would be very simple that the supporters of the Patriot Acts and other restrictive acts resemble the pre-1938 Nazi party. However, Democrats can also be compared to the Nazi party. Anyone who says that the Republican party is like the nazi's should keep in mind that the Nazis were a workers party looking for more jobs and rights for the industrial worker. So if someone says the republican party is more closely related to the nazi's, I could fire back that it is the democrats who would be more likely to breed supporters for a young charismatic leader who has created a scapegoat for the struggling economy, and wants industrial labor to succeed. The democrats on this board like to stereotype Republicans as wealthy tycoons, who only care about preserving their fortunes. If the stereotype is correct, then the republicans would NEVER support a party like the Nazi party...afterall, the Nazi's are the proletariat of the world, their own misfortune and poverty ended up causing millions of jews to die. The few rich German tycoons didn't put Hitler in office. So if the republican stereotype is correct, than we all better keep an eye on the proletariat of america...they may be plotting. Both parties, classify, make symbolizations, and dehumanize the american people. The 8 stages of genocide the nazi's began as early as 1933: 1-Classify 2-Symbolize 3-Dehumanize 4-Organization 5-Polarization 6-Preparation 7-Extermination 8-Denial FlaSoxx- When you say it is one sided, I assume you mean people would quickly point to the republicans. While both you and I know that either way the arguments would be reaching for similarities to the Nazi party, I hope my arguments were clear enough to show that you could make a fair and equal argument that both could be equally compared to the early Nazi party. In the end...neither party resembles the nazis.
