QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) The Phillies are shopping him. He's a good defender, but he wouldn't be much of an upgrade offensively, especially for a rental. The offensive upgrade would be over Kotsay/Jones, and that would be incredible.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) Werth is going to get a huge contract this offseason. No thanks! I'd just want him as a rental.
-
Wishful thinking, I know, but Domonic Brown is major league ready, and Werth is a FA after this season. Werth would be a legitimate defensive upgrade over Quentin, would could DH, filling that void. I'm assuming that Werth would get type A comp. Is there any chance that we have the bullets to get him?
-
The 3-hole hitter does get a guaranteed 1st inning PA, but often it's with 2 outs and nobody on. But more importantly, I'm really excited that real baseball's back.
-
Get me some LHRP, FOR FREE! Cuz I ain't got no prospects! And you gonna give me the prospects you got! But really, a little too much salary for this kind of thing IMO. I'm almost certain some team will though.
-
Would DeJesus fall into the category of under the radar? He has a good OBP, and he would be a defensive upgrade over Quentin, who in turn could DH, allowing him to stay healthier.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 09:36 PM) I just want to apologize to Kobe Bean Bryant for all the hatred I've spewed your way for years. You're not Jordan. But you're so close. Please, deny this motherf***er a ring. You're my only hope. I agree with every piece of this.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) What farm system? It's a little more literal than most team's farm system. It consisted of Dan Hudson watering a tomato plant.

John Danks is an ace.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) Milwaukee has been reeling lately. Wonder if talks regarding Fielder have increased. I still think we'd have to give up Danks and more though, and I dunno how I feel about that.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) Every morning I wake up sobbing, knowing that we still have Jones and Kotsay as our DH. Not that the two are related.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) That's be the steal of 2010, depending on what we give up. Dan Haren is a beast. He's having a down year, but his peripherals look almost like what they were these previous years. His 3.84 FIP and his 3.46 xFIP aren't too much worse than what they were last year. I think the sabermetric people would love the trade, everybody else will hate it. Just like the Rios trade last year. I'd love to get Haren too, but the fact that Hudson is under team control for 6 years has to count for something.

On a serious note, I'm really excited for Hudson, not that I'm happy about the circumstances.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 11:59 PM) Looks like we've found Lillibomb's kryptonite. Thankfully Weaver didn't make the All-Star Game, so Lillibomb won't have to face him in the game. Don't be ridiculous, the Lillibomb is an unstoppable baseballing force.

Non-Zombie Andrew Jones!!!

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) You got to cut a hole in that box somehow. And then we could play Kotsay and Jones in right. (Put your junk in that box)

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:03 PM) Still, it's a guy that can give you 5 innings a week tops as opposed to a guy who gets on base and hits for power for all 9 innings. Coupled with the draft picks we'll get at the end of the year, we stand to lose nothing other then a good arm who comes with an even better story. Putz can inherit his innings this year, and a guy like Nunez or Santeliz can have a go at it next. Beyond 2010, I'd expect Santos to pitch in a lot of high leverage situations if he stays. I think it depends on how confident you are in other young guys in your system to make up a lot of your pen. Santos looks pretty exceptional at this stage in his development, and your best reliever's innings are worth more than most.
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) I have no problem at all about giving up Santos. At this point, he’s an unknown commodity long term and an organization should never pause over the idea of trading a relief pitcher to add a critical piece to the offense. I usually agree, but it's a RP with over 5 years of team control left, as opposed to an offensive upgrade for less than half a season.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) He's a rental. So I'm thinking one of those guys, maybe 2 of them if you're talking about Danks2, and a throw-in or two. He's a rental and good draft picks. In regards to Santos, if the Nats want Santos for Dunn, that's all they get from me, and I'm still not sure I like it.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) If I were the Nats, I wouldn't trade him straight up for Hudson. It'd have to be Hudson + Flowers + some A-baller that I like. This is why I never got my hopes up for Dunn.

Why is Randy Williams on this team?

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) The thing that surprises me the most about that WHIP chart is that Williams somehow got 72 major league hitters out at some point. Murphy's law, I guess. -

Man, I kind of put this team on the back burner with the world cup/other summer activities going on, but it got fun to watch them again really fast. -

Pretty much any period of time when I'd be depending on my sub-average upper body strength or my poor eyesight would be bad times for me.
