  1. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) I was just thinking the same thing! hahahahaha I'm worse. I have work I need to do, but I can't focus at all.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) Contrary to this boards belief Dan Hudson is not better than Joe Saunders. So unless the Sox had a Joe Saunders what the D-Backs got for Haren is irrelevant. Not to mention KW probably offered Hudson to numerous different teams, and most likely very few wanted to give him great value. It even appears the nats who want to dump salary dont want Hudson. /shrugs Joe Saunders is 29 (and not that great). The DBacks aren't going to compete for at least a few years.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) If we keep Jackson and get Dunn, we have a World Series built team. Overpay, probably, but it's hard to define anything like that as awful. I'm still not seeing how Jackson is a signifigant upgrade over Hudson, and while I buy heavily in the nobody knows what the eff is going to happen in the playoffs, we'll still be the worst AL team in them.
  4. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) If this happens, Kw should be given a crown for being the king gm. If we get Jackson and Dunn for prospects (I don't care how many or who. Although I really want to hold onto Viciedo.) Other GMs will be in a uproar. I have to disagree. If this trade isn't essential in getting Dunn, then it was awful. I'm really not that sure how much better Jackson is than Hudson now, let alone over the next 6 very cheap years.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) Castro making us forget about AJ
  6. SI_JonHeyman #chisox among teams trying for adam dunn. 3-way scenarios with edwin jackson going to #nats are in play. 1 min ago. I'm holding out hope.
  7. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/07/whit..._medium=twitter Disappointment.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) Start the season on March 28 in warm weather cities or in domes. Honestly, why don't they try to play the first two weeks in WW/Domes?
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) That's a cop out. The day you decide that you need to spend $5 million a year more on the farm stuff, is the day you lose that money. You don't get to reap the benefits from that money until years from now when those players start making it through the system. Looking at the Sox team as it was in Spring 2010, if you were somehow able to find someone else to take on Linebrink without leaving us any money, and the same with Teahen, I want to hear who was the 3B on opening day and who was the extra pitcher. Considering how garbage Teahen is, Viciedo and/or Vizquel would get the job done. As for the guy in the Linebrink spot, considering how meaningless his appearances are I'd just use Torres.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 06:51 PM) So who would you have broke camp with to replace them? the players from the farm system you spent that money on.
  11. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 12:51 AM) Alexeiiiii...... NO! NOOOOO!!! NOOOOO!!!! NOOOOOOOO!! YOU GOTTA BE BLEEPIN ME!
  12. I like this development coming off of the Haren trade. If Arizona's ready to be stupid, let's get ours.
  13. Lineup Pierre -- LF Vizquel -- 3B Rios -- CF Konerko -- 1B Quentin -- RF Kotsay -- DH AJ -- C Ramirez -- SS Beckham -- 2B Buehrle -- P Viciedo get on the wrong plane or something?
  14. So I was thinking, with the deadline on a weekend, will that push more trades up to the day before, Kind of making 7/30 the de facto deadline?
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) AJ's got a few more good years left He should have used one of them this year then.
  16. His BABIP is at .226 (compared to an admittedly low .273 career mark) and his K rate is about where it usually is (slightly better even), so I wouldn't be shocked to see his .238 average rise. However, even a move to the cell won't help maintain his 19% HR/FB rate. If we could get him cheap enough, then he's definitely better than the rotating monster, but I don't want to give up any real prospects for him.

  18. QUOTE (ICP! @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 10:48 AM) I am still wondering whether I should start ANOTHER Werth thread and title it...." Werth, anyone interested? " If you really think it's Werth your time.
  19. Maybe they'd be interested in Putz. Not that I want to get rid of him, but I really want Werth.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) And he keeps his .259 BABIP. xFIP Buehrle 4.83 Pavano 3.91 MB get bonus points for GG defense and legendary control of the running game, but still.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) OTOH, I'd still say we have at least 3 of the best 5 starting pitchers of the 3 teams, maybe 3 of the best 4, and we've got 2 of the best setup men in the division, and the middle of our lineup (depending on Qhealth) can hang with the other guys. Pavano (if he stays healthy and mustashed) is probably better than MB, but I have no doubt that our pitching (starting and relief) is the best in the race.
  22. I don't think the issue of trading within the division is anything worth worrying about, considering the Royals can't seriously consider trying to contend this year or next. Though Dayton being Dayton...
  23. Anyone else just find it really boring? I'll watch the next one, but if it doesn't impress, I'm done.
  24. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) He steals a lot of bases. The value of which is killed by the high number of CS
