  1. They really did a great job with it. Did anyone see the musical episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" when it was on?
  2. I think the best thing to do is to watch a lot of games with her. In person and on TV. If she's interested, she'll pick up a lot on her own.
  3. QUOTE(Drew @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 05:25 AM) I think the rivalry is retarded. Care to expand on that?
  4. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) Snyder can do whatever he wants, haha. As long as he builds it with his own money, not tax money, as far as I'm concerned....
  5. It's really a shame to consider that these bright young people who are leaving Iran are quite possibly the people with the best chance at effecting some real change over there.
  6. Billy Joel- Songs in the Attic This is a lot of Billy's older songs, and they all sound great live. And you can probably find this in the bargain bin....
  7. While I agree that the Sox are going to be in contention this year, I don't necessarily agree that Detroit and Minnesota are going to regress after last year. Weren't we waiting for them each to fall down for the entire second half of last season? Most of us thought that there was no way Detroit's pitching would hold for the entire season, and most of us thought that Minny was done as soon as Liriano went down. But look what happened. I think the Sox need to seriously step it up in 2007 to reach the playoffs. (I think they will, by the way.) But relying on other teams in the division to fall down seems, well, Cubbish to me....

    Best Song Covers

Here's another vote for Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of "Little Wing," originally by Hendrix. The cover is just transcendent. I love it.
  9. I was definitely born into it. My dad grew up on the South Side, I was born on the South Side, and there was never any issue as to which team my family supported. I was raised as a Sox fan from birth.
  10. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 01:09 PM) So here is a good topic for discussion - who knows of a suburb, preferably on or near a Metra line, that has good schools, is safe, and has reasonable housing prices? The Chicago area has something like 300 different municipalities. There must be some hidden gems somewhere! I'm looking for very much the same thing. Let's see what we can find!
  11. Meet the new plan!!! Same as the old plan.
  12. This is a subject I'll be very interested in for the next year or so. The wife and I do want to move from the city to the suburbs, especially after our first child is born (this coming July). FWIW, I've been looking at homes on the internet, focusing on the west and northwest suburbs, and I'm seeing a lot in the $300k-$350k range. Many of those are somewhat older homes. If you're looking at Naperville, for example, you can get a home cheaper than that- just be prepared to live on the far south side of town, in Will County. I honestly haven't looked at much in the way of the closer-in suburbs yet. My main worry is selling my current condo. I've never sold a place before, and I don't know how difficult it will be.
  13. How about Kari Byron, the girl from "MythBusters?"
  14. I love B&B; I wish I could listen to them more often. If I'm lucky, I can sometimes catch the last half-hour of their show, but too often I'm at work. Silvy and Carmen are also very good; I like their show.
  15. "Uribe said that he may sit out the 2007 season after a judge ordered him to make twice-monthly court appearances."
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) These kids need to realize that it doesnt take a man to spray bullets at a car full of people. It takes a man to stand eye to eye with someone, and either resolve the argument, or walk away. I agree. Parents need to teach their children this lesson. I'm not going to hold my breath, though.
  17. Thanks for the summary, guys!
  18. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) Thats my thinking too. Im not sure if this is the entire story, but what justifies shooting at a group of people and htting 3 and killing one because of a verbal squabble? The shooter's manhood was probably questioned and/or insulted. That's all it seems to take. Sad but (presumably) true.
  19. Johan is one of the few players I wouldn't mind the Sox overpaying for.
  20. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 26, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) I agree with you 100% but it is only for one year. If the six guys that are in the running all s*** the bed at AAA then we have a problem. Chances are two will be needed next year and can succeed while Johnson is the insurance policy that should they all suck we still have 5 MLB seasoned pitchers right now. I'm with you, I really am, but I don't think The Unit is anywhere near where he once was. If the Sox picked him up, even if only for one year, he'd give us a year of hit-or-miss pitching. He wouldn't be the sure-fire consistent guy we'd be looking for in the #5 slot. I think we'd have to give up too much for what we'd be getting.
  21. That move seems to be the opposite of the philosophy KW is currently pursuing. I don't think it would be a good move.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) Yeah, but still..it's the principal of the trade that irks me. We wouldn't trade B-Mac to the Rays for Crawford/Rocco, but we'll put our chips all-in on prospects? Hey, like I said, I'm not sure what to think. But I'm glad we didn't give up Brandon for a rent-a-player. I just have to hope that these guys pan out, and in the short term.
  23. QUOTE(JERMAINEDYE4MVP @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) BOOLSHEET. ONE THING I LIKE ABOUT HAVING 2 TEAMS IS THAT WHEN ONE OF THEM SUX, THE OTHER USUALLY DOES NOT.. SO.. GOOD NIGHT WHITE SOX... GOOD MORNING CUBS! Surely you can't be serious....
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) Back in July, was the near Soriano trade straight up for B-Mac? If so, I think I want to cry. Well, it would have been Soriano for half a year, then....
