  1. who was hawk referring to when he said this? i see it all over this forum and i was just wondering.
  2. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) What about the possibility of Bill Mueller playing first, or Kevin Millar? millar is a fat bastard and he sucks. mueller, i guess that could happen, but how would we ever acquire him?
  3. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) Melton is annoying. milton's fine. he's white sox pedigree and no one can say that he doesnt know his s***.
  4. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) I have a better idea... drop Orlando out of the rotation... just start BMAC... Seriously if BMAC is going to keep pitching like this it makes no sense to even leave El Duque on the playoff roster... that is the worst idea i have ever heard.
  5. this whole post is moot, as the sox have just won their 5th in a row. shame on anyone who agrees with mariotti in any way!
  6. I know I speak for the majority of the posters here on soxtalk when I commend Bobby Jenks. His potential is unlimited in my mind, and he keeps pitching better and better every time, it seems. We have GOT to keep Jenks for a long time! Jenks, baby!!!!
  7. You pessimists were saying this season is over for us. Well, I say that the slump is over! Our production over the last few games proves it to me. We got to keep this momentum going until playoff time, then IT'S ON!!! Does anyone else agree that the slump is over??
  8. I dont really hold anything against Maggs, but I kind of liked the beaning of Maggs. Thank you Hermie. No one leaves the sox w/out a mark!!!
  9. That's what im talking about (minus jimbo)! we need some optimism, at least evey once in a while. just look at the pale hose forum thread list. damn near every thread has the words 'sox' and 'dead' in its title.
  10. I dont know about you chicken littles, but I still think we have a great chance to go all the way this year. Why do I think that? BECAUSE I AM A WHITE SOX FANATIC!!!! Please, God, please tell me that we have someone else in this forum that hasnt turned their backs on the sox!! Back me up if you agree!!
  11. QUOTE(brijames @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) The Sox have stopped hitting period, and with great hitting ballclubs like the Rangers, currently beating us up, followed by the Tigers who are a great hitting team as well, the Sox will probably lose 6 of the next 7 while the Indians are just plain pounding everyone right now. That will put the lead around 2 or 3 by the end of next week and then the pressure will really eat this team up. check the thread titled 'IN OR OUT.' someone in there breaks down how bad the sox will have to do and how good the twins and indians will have to play for that to happen. I will bet you any amount you want. talk about crying wolf, jesus!

  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) I'm suprised it took 13 posts for his name to be mentioned. Like I've said a thousand times, I'll never understand the hatred for him. He produced for a s*** team in '98 and never amounted to anything after that. You can say more for him than you could for a s*** load of other Sox prospects (even though he wasn't home grown). What about Jason Dellaero, we drafted his ass in the first round and never did s***. Dellaero played 11 career games and hit .091, maybe people should redirect their Caruso hatred toward players that never did anything, instead of one that played his ass off and contributed. dude, what are you, related to mike caruso?
  14. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) Not a very nice topic. I think it is obvious from an all around baseball perspective. We had one guy who was almost as beloved by the media as Bonds is. what's wrong with this topic? i thought it would be kind of interesting to find out what people thought. if you dislike it, then dont post on it, I guess.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) Jaime Navarro, no doubt about it. I have never seen a player sign a huge contract, suck incredibly bad, and then blame other people for their failures as much as JN did. You make a good point. I revise my opinion to make a tie. I was concentrating more on non-pitchers, but you can't ignore navarro.
  16. My vote is for royce clayton. and nobody better try to say he's "all glove no bat." i know a scout for the padres, and he agreed with me and said royce is regarded by the padres as "all contract, no bat or glove." i quote that. anyways, who is everyone else's vote for?
  17. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) a thought occured to me earlier today. In the past when the sox were hurting for attendance, I wonder why they didnt try and move one of their local Rookie, A, AA or even AAA teams to the Chicagoland area. The Iowa Cubs draw pretty well. Why couldnt we have the Kane County White Sox? Kane County already draws well but it could be a big plus to the Chi Sox if fans could follow their favorite minor league guys to the bigs. As it stands right now, the Sox have affiliates in SC, NC, AL, MT and VA. What no Sox fans in rural IL, WI, IN, IA, KY, OH, MI that would like to see the team but cant drive 3+ hours to go to a game? AAA= Indianapolis Indians, Iowa Cubs, Louisville Bats (Reds), Columbus Clippers (Yankees), Toldeo Mud Hens (Tigers) AA= Akron Aeros (Indians) A= Too many to list. (2 in Illinois) (3 in Indiana) (4 in Iowa) (2 in Wisconsin) (1 in Kentucky) (3 in Ohio) (3 in Michigan) Not so fast there. I am a die hard Sox fan from rural MI. I know several more.
  18. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) If it means I get to walk around the warning track prior to the game? Absolutely. And several friends of mine feel the same way. Moreover, the mullet is not necessarily a white trash haircut. In Canada, it is the traditional haircut for hockey players, and James K. Polk, our 11th President, had a mullet. touche. your response is unbeatable. and i learned something new: polk had one!
  19. i'm in, even if we were in last place. there's no other way to say it but to call anyone who has given up a quitter and an unpious sox fan.
  20. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) VINNY FOCKING CASTILLA!!! what a sad move that would be, to trade crede for grandpa castilla. i can remember when i was about 4 years old and castilla was playing. can you say with a straight face that castilla would be better than crede? before you answer that, please remember that there is more to the game than numbers too. you cant deny that crede's glove is prime, and he has had his offensive moments this year. and at least crede has some semblence of a future. AND we STILL have the best record in the american league. what is everyone's obsession here with trying to fix things that arent broken?!?
  21. this is getting nasty. a true sox fan can at least tolerate hawk, even if they do not like him. there are too many non-sox fans on this god damn post. get out of here if you are not a true sox fan!!
  22. QUOTE(effectivelywild @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Honestly, most of my white sox fan friends think that Hawk is almost single-handedly detroying the fan base. Television is crucial to developing fans. Hawk can be just painful to listen to sometimes. Honestly, I could do a better job. your statement is so stupid it requires no response. hawk's not going anywhere- it's not even worth arguing about. i love hawk, but if you dont, whatever. if you dont have anything noce or constructive to say, dont say anything.
  23. does anyone know the sox magic # at this point? i want to start keeping track.
  24. QUOTE(C.Rector @ Apr 21, 2004 -> 02:36 AM) Following is the the three year decline of starter Mark Buehrle as evidenced by his stats from 2001, 2002 and 2003 (in order): ERA: 3.29, 3.58, 4.14 K/BB: 2.63, 2.20, 1.95 K/9IP: 5.12, 5.05, 4.65 BAA: .230, .260, .278 Buehrle’s decline is an indication that his arm is getting progressively tired. One would think that the Sox would opt to limit Buehrle to no more than 5 innings per start or to a strict pitch limit in the 75-100 range or perhaps even place him in the bullpen in order to at least lengthen out his quality service for the team. This is especially the case since Buehrle recently signed a 3-yr. $18 Mil. in guraranteed money contract with the Sox. However, the Sox have not evinced any awareness of Buehrle’s decline and appear to have their problematic pitcher on course towards lengthened stays on the mound. Up until last night's disaster at Comiskey Park vs. the Yankees, Buehrle was throwing an average 112 pitches per game. Folks, this is Dusty Baker territory. Unless Guillen institutes a strict pitch count on Buehrle, his decline will only continue to worsen. buerhle's record has been sweet though. and if hes in decline, why did he start the all star game? could it be that you are just another catastrophizer who is trying to make something out of nothing?
