Jason Castro signs with Twins at 3 years 24.5 million
heirdog replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The quote just seems to lump the Sox as "speculative fits based on need." While it's true that catcher is a need, doesn't mean that they have actually shown any interest. -
Braves among teams showing interest in chris sale
heirdog replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) I find it interesting that the Braves who won 68 games in 2016 are trying to acquire Sale and the White Sox who won 78 games in 2016 are trying to trade Sale. Braves are trying to fill a new stadium. Sox are trying to hide and rebuild until they can leverage a new stadium name billboard off of the facade. -
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 05:37 PM) Is there any sort of return-policy or take-backs on the Duke trade that we can call upon? I'd rather have an injured Tilson not help us win meaningless games than have Zach Duke help us eke out 75 wins and a pick in the teens.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 05:53 PM) I feel like the "false stories" are actually what happened and everything since has been damage control. Yep. A combustible guy w a huge ego gets demoted and with the utmost tact and professionalism, quietly packs up, tips the clubhouse guys, doesnt tear up any jerseys and heads off on a coach bus to AAA. That's likely.

JB Shuck to Rangers for cash Because it would be comically white sox
-
I bet the old man JR thinks we have a shot this year (and maybe next). All he did was take out an overrated reliever for a JB Shuck replacement. He probably thinks we have another April type run in us to sneak into the playoffs. Its just that about 6 regulars have to actually all start hitting at the same time. Sucks...we should have at least re-tooled in a bigger fashion. Damn, I wish we had Cashman or even Daniels...or maybe Hahn, without the strings attached to JR/KW
-
okay so if we are going to retool again (which I don't agree with), then please fire Robin and hire a real manager and see what we actually have.

Another winter when we jump start the same dead car.

what is bonus time? is it a real thing? even the yankees managed to off load ivan nova in the waning moments...

4 trades in 4 minutes! lets go!

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) Brinson and Ortiz for Lucroy. No Sale trade for them now actually that keeps Gallo in play
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:45 PM) Gallo sounds like he is going to MIL in Lucroy deal, which means no chance for a late Rangers push. mazara, odor, ortiz + for sale, melky?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) If you wait until the off season you can get a player that is on a major league roster right now. yes, completely agree with this and what my preference would be unless the Boston top 4 is coming this way. My guess: Hahn started w the major league Bs and said add Benintendi or Moancada and some other pieces When he got a "no" for major league, he said top 5 prospects including Moancada and Ben ++ When he got a "no", he said final offer is top 4 spects with both Moancada and Ben...take it or leave it and we'll revisit in off-season. Hahn looking back may now say, you know what I came down enough and I'd actually prefer the first option when Groome is in play along with the major league Bs.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) MLBN says Moncada definitely won't be traded, but Benintendi would be included for Sale... nothing groundbreaking here Im starting to get the feeling that DD is like some Soxtalk posters...beating a dead horse. No Boegarts, Betts, Bradley or Moancada, then no Sale, Dave. See you at the winter meetings when you will put them in play after missing out on the playoffs.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) Why??? Their teams are all in good position to make the playoffs. If they are not willing to pay out what Hahn is asking, they are still in good shape. They not only have their team in the playoff hunt, they all have several outstanding prospects in their farm system as well. That is the job of a GM. Success in the majors and talent in the minors. We have neither right now. I'm talking about just the trade deadline. Sure they are in better spots than us as a team but the "what if" someone else gets Sale is what they are sweating and may push their chips in if they fear the worst. Hahn just needs to wait. That being said, Hahn needs to offload DRob and Melky at a minimum.
-
Just had a weird premonition that Hahn just handed a paper over to some executive runner and said "call that into the league office"

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) Rosenthal says Beltran to Rangers close and there is the missing piece the sox would want from yanks...dillon tate to yanks for beltran
-
Rosenthal says Yankees talking Beltran deal with rangers and indians. If they pry a decent pitching prospect (Tate or Ortiz), would that be enough to package to white sox with the other pieces: Frazier, Torres, Sanchez, Judge, Severino etc.
-
QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) what is interesting? that we suck as an org? We suck because we won't budge on 2 of the top assets in all of baseball?!? Or because we won't settle for less when we have 2 cost controlled elite pitchers in a seller's market where the top contenders could use pitching?!? Dombrowski, Friedman and Daniels should be the ones sweating right now, not Hahn.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox1917 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) Obviously Yankees aren't a buyer right now, but I would happy to raid their farm system and deal Sale in the offseason. Sale for Frazier, Mateo, Judge, Rutherford, and Sheffield would be a nice haul no severino? and I prefer torres to mateo...hell give us both! Also, none of these guys are major leaguers so what stops a deal right now, whether they are buyers or sellers?
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) Well espn just said the Yankees are "all-in" on Chris Sale. your move Boston
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) That would be a steal. I wonder if a holdup in moving Shields is that JR doesn't want to kick back the 20MM that the Padres sent his way. the hold up is probably what the dodgers eat from Puig salary, or what part of the Shields savings we pass on.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) Phil Rogers @philgrogers 12s13 seconds ago @whitesox decision to deal Shields hinges on if he'll exercise opt-out after season. Dealt good piece (SS Fernando Tatis Jr.) to get him. This scares me in that we are "going for it" in 2017...with the same broken offense and good starting rotation.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) They all are aware of the cost. A deal could get done as fast as they can say yes. Kudos to the White Sox for not budging. +1
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:27 PM) User Actions Following Bob NightengaleVerified account @BNightengale The #Whitesox insist they are not having any trade talks with #Dodgers involving Yasiel Puig This guy is beyond legit so that squashes Puig for sure
