Sox acquire Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa
heirdog replied to Rooftop Shots's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 01:39 AM) I know everyone is down on Thompson but he still is young and has a ton of upside. I think Semien has a very high floor. That's a lot to give for a rental IMO. You can get some top 10 prospects from another team at the deadline which by virtue of the Sox system would make the haul better than what they just gave up. -

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 06:49 PM) This sucks. Something needs to happen! When did today become tomorrow? Most of the action happens on last day and right up to the deadline. Unless its KW, then it happens in November, May and June -

Taillon, Dickerson + is a nice haul for peavy and alexei. Let's hope cards now bite on wacha, Martinez, Adams and Wong for same 2. -

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 09:53 PM) I might say this 10,000 times but the 2 people I can't stand the most are Cowley and Keith Law.. Law is a huge idiot!!! He graduated from Harvard with honors...he's not an idiot. That's about the only nice thing I can say about him. -

I tweeted Keith law "when r u going to get over wells for sirotka? Petulance is not a virtue." He responded "that was before my time. Try again." Is that true? -

Since these beat writers can't break the big story first any longer, they should try and be the first to break who k0na's source is...probably old Betty from the mail room...and did i mention her last name is Seyller...that's right Grandma Betty is the mole. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 09:20 PM) Didn't we just say that 2 months ago when we signed Sergio Santos? Maybe have become too cynical to believe John Danks will actually finish that contract in a Sox jersey. Santos was just a tick below Jenks...just like Massett we'll learn later that means an annoying biting bug that lives in Jenks' nether regions and not his stuff... Danks is much more proven and deal could be considered slightly below market so whether he pitches only 2 years of it or more, I'm good with it. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) Interesting to note that k0na's facebook indicates he is a Marlins and Giants fan.....hmm... Aaron Rowand is k0na? In his tweets he admits he's a sox fan...double hmm... -

I really think the thread title should be changed to "k0na breaks story on Danks ext...heyman confirms" Guy has been money and deserves some credit on here...I'm impressed at an actual insider who has the cajones to repeatedly post this stuff and dare kw to find out who this guy is. -

heirdog replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I asked k0na if it was 5/$54 and he first said "I can't confirm or deny at this time dude" and then later said "how about this, one of those numbers is right" So now we have all the clues...3/$54 or 5/$75...it's like price is right. -
Jon heyman tweeted a few mins ago that yanks considering Danks for one of banuelos/montero/betances...even though kw asked for 2 of them. Shows Danks value higher than Santos...as get none of those for him.

QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 12:49 AM) Quentin & Danks for Brett Gardner & prospects. Since you didn't name the prospects or even qualify them as "2 top 10", then I assume Brett Gardner is the centerpiece...I then slowly swallow back the little bit of vomit that just came up.

I will invoke Occam's razor: mark teahen was referring to Oney Guillen perception is reality and if the slightest chance he wasn't (and talking about some random person he knows) then why put it out there for thousands of people to see on twitter and not just a group email to his friends and close circle? Mark took shots at Oney that included name calling and Oney responded. I am not in the least bit a fan of Oney or his malicious attacks and while I don't condone his style, Oney retaliated and went below the belt...as he always does. Lauren, you are by no means unattractive and man-like and while your response here was heartfelt and genuine, your real response should be to your husband to have a filter and not start some public mudslinging with an immature kid that does not know any better and refuses to acknowledge his own warts. Good luck to you and your family.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 12:29 AM) Edit: Looks like Thornton isn't plan B... How could he be? He's already going in the Gamel trade according to the highly respected, Mr. fantasy expert
-
The attendance discussion in a trade winds thread is annoying. You come on after a LNG break and see 12+ pgs to the Q thread...but then the disappointment with some nonsense discussion on attendance figures.
-
I call BS on this rumor. You don't trade a key component of your team ( thorrnton) who could get you a hell of a lot more talent just to salary dump Rios. And worst of all you trade him for a mark teahan type who you just dumped. If brewers are even remotely interested in Rios, just waive him and let them put in a claim and have him.

Why try to eke out the central division this year when instead you could dominate it for the next decade....make the deal if proposed.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) Not necessarily...if you do the sale right, you don't necessarily target MLB-ready players, because MLB-ready-ness has a higher price than total talent. Teams get far bigger steals targeting low level players who won't arrive for a few years, or guys who are otherwise undervalued. That's how the Twins got so much for Pierzynski; Liriano was an injury risk in the low minors and no one thought Nathan was a closer. That's how the Indians got Carlos Santana for Casey Blake, Asdrubal Cabrera for Eduardo Perez, etc. Great point, thanks. Then I will patiently await Jon gilmore's rise and hope he is the steal of the Vasquez deal with ATL.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:40 AM) Rios has been so bad that it's hard to see him rebounding. It's amazing how many of our hitters become mentally f***ed once they get here. I'm waiting for Greg Walker's video "the art of hitting .250" to file next to my Charlie lau "art of hitting .300" video. Maybe he could get Fred mcgriff (and his high hat) as a pitch man.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) If you completely turn over the roster, that's pretty much what you actually want to do...you put the guys out there that are either cheap/developmental or are guys who for whatever reason no one else wanted. We don't have an obvious star to put out there, so let's see what these guys can do...if 1 of the 2 of them puts up solid numbers in a full season, then you've found yourself a cheap starting OF off the scrap heap, and you can use the savings from that guy to fill in the other hole when you're in a better place to compete. But wouldn't all the major talent the Sox give up (konerko, buehrle, quentin, etc) net at least some higher ceiling players than Lilli or DeAza...I would want to see those types (I.e. Rasmus) or even Jordan Danks, Mitchell etc. Lilli is a nice utility player and DeAza a decent 4th OF.

Out. This team could scrape and claw and win the division and then get bounced in the first round...no thanks. World Series Championship or bust...not a battle for the weak AL Central title

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:48 AM) Dunn may be the only player of that group that is unmovable. The rest could be moved depending on the amount of money the Sox are willing to take on. If you are getting pre-arb players in return it would make sense to eat some money, especially in the case of AJ. If KW were to hold a firesale - Konerko is the top 1B on the market - SF could desparately use him, Yanks need a DH, Rangers, Braves and Dbacks all need a 1B MB and Danks are the top two LHP's - Yanks, Cardinals, Rangers, Reds, Red Sox all need help Quentin is the top Corner outfielder - mostly due to his contract status - Phillies, Braves, Rangers, Pirates and Giants all need OF help - Yanks need a DH Edwin Jackson is a top 10 SP on the market - Brewers, Yanks and Red Sox could use a rental Thornton is the top LHRP on the market - See the return George Sherrill got for the O's in his walk year Crain would be very valuable to teams worried about the skewed stats of SD relievers AJP would be the best offensive catcher available - Pirates need a C Beckham would be one of the top 2B on the market (thin crop) but it would be selling low - not getting moved Alexi (wont be traded) would be far and away the best SS on the market - going nowhere If they were to turn over the roster I would imagine that Santos. Ramirez and Beckham would stay. Dunn would probably remain as DH or 1B as well because of his contract situation and the reality that you would only get pennies back on your dollar of investment. Lilli could play CF, De Aza in LF and Viciedo in RF. The team probably is the worst in the Central this season but depending on what level of talent KW gets back they might not be that far away. If we're turning over the roster with a firesale...and the best outfield we end up with is Lilli, deAza and viciedo...I'm pissed. We better get some better talent to throw out there even this year.

White Sox acquire Gaby Hernandez from Royals

QUOTE (Real @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) Another failure pickup that won't pan out from the royals. Yes, I think that cash consideration is going to come back and bite the white sox in the future.
