Preview: White Sox on the Intl Amateur (J2) market
heirdog replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
Wow, great article. It accomplished what the other thread on int'l signings couldn't for me: simplify context and what it means to the Sox -
Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal
heirdog replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 5, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) That would be phenomenal. Cardinals in the hunt too and signed Robert's best friend and "guide" in jose garcia so let's hope Ynoa, coupled w Moncada and Abreu tips the familiarity portion of his decision in our favor -
Maybe he came in out of shape and so this slow approach is to avoid an injury due to being out of shape. But the result of the slow process may preclude him from being stretched out enough to make the start.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 05:31 PM) Come on, Jose. Show everyone what your made of. Hope he strikes out Bregman a couple times...

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) According to this, Devers wasn't on the table at all. Baseball AmericaVerified account@BaseballAmerica 53m53 minutes ago Via @alexspeier: The @RedSox would not trade Rafael Devers, even if it meant walking away from Chris Sale. ?? http://bba.am/FzZVN4 It's pretty clear in the article that Devers off the table after the first 2 of Moncada and Kopech in place. That makes sense and I'm sure we asked and settled for Basabe w a lottery ticket throw in (victor diaz) -
Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week

QUOTE (Username @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) How could you forget the Glassman Charlie Tilton??? Charlene Tilton?!? Lucy Ewing of Dallas fame? -
Although the advanced metrics scream otherwise, I still have faith that Avi can turn into a decent 2 WAR player annually. Late bloomer who is a post-hype sleeper
-
Why would the Sox want Derek Norris? Severino is a good get. If you can pair him with someone like Voth, Stevenson or Neuse, it's a fair deal. Soto would seem off the table unless we are picking up a majority of the DRob contract
-
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 12:53 PM) Nick Confardo of the Boston Globe mentioned that the Red Sox would be a good landing spot for Frazier. I'm not sure Rafael Devers would be what the Sox are looking for, since they have Zack Collins who might project better and the Sox could also potentially be in play for Severino from the Nationals. Devers is a 3B not a catcher and if we could land him for Frazier, we would have done it already.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 04:18 PM) Rick Hahn says they aren't bringing anyone else in and then sign a former 1st round pick, smh, make up your mind Rick. I believe he had the caveat "...unless there is an injury" and report from Chicago media earlier this winter was that White Sox would bring in another starter if there was a trade to ensure the young arms aren't rushed up to fill a hole. Although a minors deal and with Rodon speculation (which has proven to be nothing)...take your pick.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 01:05 PM) I'm with you. I wish we had a young bat like Schwarber. Collins?

I am optimistic with this change: Carlos = Luis Alejandro Basabe Yolmer = Luis Alexander Basabe

http://www.dailyherald.com/article/2017021...orts/170219449/ Interesting quote from Hahn in Rozner article: "I think character will play a larger role now, because we'll be able to groom a lot of these guys, whether we acquire them through the draft or trade or internationally," Hahn said. "We're able to target a certain type of guy, and we'll have them younger so we'll be able to bring out of them the kind of character we'd like to see in terms of clubhouse presence and the way he plays the game."

QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 02:23 PM) I am slow. Is there a direct link to the Pirates trading Cutch and them trading for Q? There is a ton of rumors out there that they want to trade Cutch again. Seems to be heating up on that front. Maybe but probably not...or would require a third team if we are to believe 1) Hahn holding out for Meadows; and 2) Pirates trading Cutch to open up a spot for Meadows on MLB team -
QUOTE (pablo @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 09:16 PM) This is a complete side note but have found it funny ever since the winter meetings. What is up with RH always saying "if we had our druthers..."? It's got to be the fourth or fifth time I have heard him use it since the Eaton deal. Can he come up with something new? It's getting to the point where it's a tad bit annoying for me. lol I was thinking the same thing. I feel like they are a pair of khakis or something and he should just go out and buy some "druthers" so he can have them and we can resume making trades.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 08:41 PM) Ok, I would do that deal but there would seem to be more pieces involved or other moves planned. Must be happening soon Severino and Voth...Robertson and $8-10 million
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 05:44 PM) A trade? Who is available at catcher? We need AJ back Pedro Severino from Nats in a Robertson deal

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 09:12 PM) Well that's kind of my point. If I were Luhnow and felt I was the only team actively involved in trade talks, I'd probably wait until after the WBC was completed to execute a trade. Might as well avoid any unnecessary risk if at all possible. Again, this is me just throwing out a dumb idea. Houston runs the same risk with the headliner in the deal, Bregman -

What low-key Sox prospect are you most excited to get a chance
heirdog replied to bmags's topic in FutureSox Board
I would love to see Davidson get a full season trial. If the defense has improved as advertised, perhaps at 3B or 1B/DH at the very least. Spin the wheel and hope he's a Frazier lite with 30 homers, and the requisite low average and lots of Ks of course. He'll have a little value at that point and it gives us options.
