  1. It’s premature to tap into the top prospects, especially the pitchers for Yelich. No prospects are sure things but as it stands, Eloy and Robert are very likely legit MLB level. On the pitching side, even though we have a bunch of depth, there is less certainty, especially w Rodon hurt. So why would we send Cease and Hansen who arguably have the best stuff in our system outside of Kopech? I’d rather wait and see what we have from our pitching a little longer before dipping into it.
  2. I chose to trade Jose for several reasons: 1) the prospect return for Jose would be more significant 2) the prospect return for Avi would be less signicant 3) Avi less likely near peak value whereas Jose has consistently shown what he is over 4 years, resulting in best opportunity to net the best return
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) Yeah Magneuris Sierra is a leadoff profile with elite level defense in CF. Flaherty and Sierra would probably be a nice deal for Sox. If we could get those two plus someone like Zach Jackson as the high upside piece, I'd consider that a win.
  4. Not ready to give up on Timmy yet. I think he can turn it around and probably will next year. But given where we are in our rebuild and the upcoming drafts, future trades, etc...I could very well see Tim as similar to Starlin Castro--a competent SS who gets traded to add some additional prospect capital to the contending club. I think guys like Turang in the draft or eventually current top prospects like Rodgers end up on this squad and Tim gets shipped off.
  5. White Sox must have really liked a lot of guys in the 2016 draft. 8 of top 30 are from 2016 draft...Rutherford, Hansen, Collins, dunning, Burdi, Puckett, Fisher, Call
  6. I would guess he slots in at 21 between Basabe and Stephens
  7. I could see the Indians w interest in a bench bat/ OF platoon candidate such as Melky and w some struggles in the back end of their rotation, MiGo makes sense too. If there is a way to get SS Willi Castro and perhaps a lottery ticket for this package, that would be very exciting. Obviously, Lindor not going anywhere for the foreseeable future and Chang also ahead of Castro as far as prospect depth.
  8. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 01:34 PM) If you've got your division wrapped up for the most part and just need a guy to eat innings so your top arms are fresh for the playoffs then Holland is OK. I think we'll be surprised with what they get in return. Surprised in a positive or negative way? If we get anything with a pulse, I'll be happy. Holland is the kind of guy as you said could be used as a 4-5 innings eater for meaningless late season games or a swing man on contenders. For that we may get a deep deep deep lottery ticket/young guy w perhaps one above average tool or an older AAAA type that will compete w the Danny Hayes of the world...hoping he turns into Ross Gload. And that's fine.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 12:35 PM) Worth mentioning: First half - 6 BB/9 (44 BB in 66 IP) Second half - 3.6 BB/9 (13 in 32.1 IP) And, over his last 3 starts, he's at 1.8 BB/9 over 20 IP, including an 8 inning start where he didn't walk anyone. That's as much tangible progress as I need to see that he's developing. Great points. Absolutely is progress. My hope is that they ease him back and shut him down around 125ish innings. With Spring training and a Triple AAA assignment to begin next year, he should continue to refine his control further and improve the change-up/3rd pitch.
  10. Melky pulled for a pinch runner in 8th...hmmm, hug watch?
  11. Cordell will probably slot in between Sheets and Basabe so #18 in our system. A short cup of coffee for Nicky D on our top prospect list...just like Yrizzari before him.
  12. Benintendi was gone by the time Sox drafted. All intel seems to indicate he would have been their pick. In hindsight, the misguided vision of a competitive team in 2015/16 led to Fulmer over Happ and the shields/Tatis Jr trade. I'm not worried about Collins at all. Even with hind sight and present performance, I'd rather have Collins in the system versus Lewis since we have Eloy, Robert, and Blake as well.
  13. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 06:51 PM) No trolling. I think that some seem to be severely undervaluing Stanton, and very much overvaluing A ball prospects. We must remember that not all these prospects will work out. Some of these guys are struggling in there respective leagues on the farm. I feel like this would be very fair considering the caliber of Stanton. Plus you would still have an OF of Robert, Stanton and Rutherford. Pitching staff of Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Giolio and Cease. Infield of Burger, Anderson, Moncada and Abreu. My initial reaction to your trade proposal was "Wtf, is this guy for real...must be trolling." After seeing this response, I believe that you are being serious and your idea makes sense; however, it's the type of trade that a team near contention makes. Another caveat, a team that is close to championship caliber would still not give up 6 legitimate prospects including an elite top 5 guy. It would be something more like Eloy, Adams and filler or Hansen, Collins, Luis Martinez + Tito polo
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 11:59 PM) Eloy highlights: https://twitter.com/bhallwfmy/status/888216258616983552 Wow, that was some easy oppo power and it was way outta here
  15. I suppose any return can be debated but one constant theme I've noticed is any critic of the deals Hahn has made to this point say "one player short" or "a tick light on the back end." Sale trade: "should've included Devers instead of Basabe & Diaz" Eaton trade: "great but should've pried Robles instead of Giolito" Quintana trade: "back end should've been better with Candelario" Fraz/DRob/Kahnle trade: "Clarkin should've been 3rd piece w Andujar or Florial" Given that we have basically been shopping most of these guys for over a year, Rick and team have a pretty good idea of the true market and what the best offers available. Given that Rick has shown patience, even with some impatience on this board, it's fairly clear that he didn't just jump on any offer to dump these guys. Given that there are still about 2 weeks left until the deadline, Rick's hand wasn't forced and ultimately these met the threshold of the type of return they could expect. I'm extremely happy with these trades both individually and overall. I believe that the Sox did ample due diligence and extracted the appropriate returns that are realistic. I want the Sox to seek potential superstars and the more high end chips the more likely we hit on a few. Our system has plenty of B/C prospects that will likely be okay or surprise. Give me the blue chippers all day every day and I'll sacrifice the back end of deals.
  16. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:41 PM) Avi good as gone? Lol these of prospects aren't even collectively close to being ready to help this team. These trades likely make the chance of a Melky extension close to zero
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:23 PM) Yup. Basically gave Kahnle away for free. If upgrading from Dillon Tate type to a Blake Rutherford is free, then yes
  18. Todd Frazier wouldn't buy you a bus ticket in this market Robertson isn't Chapman or Miller Kahnle is essentially Nate Jones from a couple years ago (sell high before injury/implosion) If that nets me a top 40 prospect that could continue to trend up, a LH starting pitcher w pretty good stuff and another low level lottery ticket...sign me up every single time.
  19. Clarkin sounds like a ground ball machine who can paint corners and hold down a mid rotation spot for years...from the left side. A good get in my opinion but would love a super high ceiling 4th guy like Florial
  20. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:19 PM) He's out for the year with an injury. It's his non-throwing arm...rub some dirt on it and suit up
  21. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:25 PM) https://twitter.com/EvanDrellich/status/887466865664163844 Is it like a fantasy trade, where he has to log in and accept?
  22. This is the allegedly reputable Boston guy w 21k followers: https://twitter.com/bostonstrong_34/status/...145436523442176 "Source;Red Sox had a deal in place with the White Sox for Todd Frazier but something was wrong on the medical from a player going to Chicago"
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 02:47 PM) Come on! So trade someone else from a strength to free up the cash! I refuse to believe that this is about money. If it is, the guy needs to be more f***ing creative. To me, the guy is trying to be cute, and he's going to get burned. I understand the argument that Robles needs to replace Harper, but PEOPLE, do you understand NO ONE WILL REPLACE HARPER. Harper is a generational player that was doing in the major leagues what Robles is doing in A ball at the same age. The Nats need to WIN while Harper is still in their uniform, not dick around worrying about a guy in A ball. Again, not saying he should just trade Robles to the White Sox for all their relievers. But he absolutely should be willing to move minor league assets to win now. Because if they lose in the postseason because Rizzo went cheap on the pen, I can't imagine Harper is going to care that Robles is still around. And if they fail to win while Harper is here, it isn't going to be easier than it is now because Robles comes in to replace him. I agree, he's got to get more creative. To win now, he can more than stabilize his bullpen problem with multiple relievers from the White Sox, give up Robles and let Soto eventually be the "Harper replacement." Of course Soto is a step down from Robles but by wasting this potential championship year, you have essentially lost Harper for this year as well...and not just the future. Or get even more creative and give up Robles & Luzardo or some other lottery ticket for Robertson, Kahnle and Basabe or Call to keep another potential "Harper replacement" in the wings.
  24. Getting Eloy and Cease is basically all that matters. You get a talented arm like cease with Coop and sky is the limit. The other guys can be AAAA for all I care
