  1. Theory based on last week: 1) philllies feel they are out on Machado so they set up face to face w Harper 2) yanks signal they are out on Machado so Lozano loses leverage on white sox 3) mystery team appears to reapply leverage...I think there is one (cards) but not a serious threat goes w Hahn’s narrative that we felt it was close to ending a few times but until it’s done, it’s not done (something to that effect per Merkins tweets where he never states “done” for any specific team). It’s as if he knows they are in pole position but it seems Lozano wants to uncover every stone (last minute offers from teams and typical agent tactics of leverage and fake info to up the years or dollars)
  2. And Harper is waiting for Machado to sign so I guess they both never sign
  3. Bingo, money talks. Based on all we’ve heard, it seems priorities are: 1) money (cards can afford him) 2) playing SS (DeJong won’t block him) 3) friends, family (including wife pref), 3rd base coaches / IF coordinators 4) childhood dreams
  4. It’ll be funny if it ends up 6/$210M and Ken Rosenthal tweets it officially and has to say “Fake @JefPassan first
  5. [Sean Connery voice] Philly offers $200 million, we offer $201 Philly brings a bench coach, we bring a best friend Philly puts him at 3rd, we put him at Short That’s the Chicago way
  6. These kids and their instagram teasers. Remember when Luis Robert had a pic of himself in a Sox hat...then took it down as he was prob told “not public yet”. It was public shortly thereafter
  7. I think we all need to pay closer attention to this Bret Moccia fellow on Twitter. He’s just had too many “good calls” to ignore. And he says Manny to ChiSox and Harper to Dodgers (already done...just awaiting Manny deal finality to ensure he gets more than him, would assume AAV because Harper will be 10 year, $310MM+)
  8. Oh shit S.T.L. signing w cardinals. Confirmed.
  9. Interestingly, our favorite Oriole blogger/Yankee fan would need to Skype his pleadings since he lives in Australia
  10. I think Machado mañana.... and Bryce in the bag.... Let’s get it all done by the weekend so we have ~2 weeks to buy tix and plan for SoxFest
  11. Early morning surprise Sox tweet about Machado signing a la the Eloy/Cease and Quintana trade...except the real surprise is we all know it’s coming.
  12. I’d rather have Alonso, Jay and the 3rd pick in June’s draft to make Manny’s transition more comfortable and “lure” him than lose Dunning, Basabe + (and lower draft pick) 6 months ago to have Manny get comfortable with the org and sign here.
  13. Dan Clark’s “source” (and Dan Clark too) is making an educated guess. It’s down to 3 teams with Philly possibly lagging behind so 50/50 shot he signs w Yanks, which was his preference from childhood. But since meeting w Sox and eventually weighing the $$$, he may choose Sox...or Yanks. It’s nice to throw out there and say he had it first...or if he signs w Sox, “he changed his mind”
  14. 1) Baines 2) Thomas 3) Buehrle 4) Harper 5) Machado
  15. Let’s stop the gloom and doom on this thread. The White Sox have the inside track on Machado. He will sign with the Sox unless the Phillies do something stupid. Harper is a long shot but who knows?!?
  16. Longo sounds like an Italian last name and Tony (Anthony) is a common name from Italian heritage dating back to 17th century Rome. I'm going to go with Tony Longo, final answer.
  17. Those don't count. I only have 3 "+"s and received 4 eyebrow raises for a post back during the amateur draft. I suggested that Madrigal was announced as a SS because TA would handle it better than Moncada if Madrigal were announced as a 2B since TA had said just prior that he would play anywhere including CF and Moncada has been more adamant about staying at 2B. Like Moncada would, I went into a shell for a couple months after receiving that feedback on my post ?
  18. That was Soria I thought. Shields owed 6 but Padres paying half. But don't think Padres half gets passed on to the club acquiring him. It's just that the Sox can pay some of it to acquire a better prospect in a trade. If its a waiver claim, the team that claims him on the hook for the 6 (and Sox just keep the cash from Padres). Highly doubt Shields gets claimed.
  19. Your argument is valid. As you stated earlier, Quintana while likely a little better, perceived to have similar value at that time to Archer right now and the years of control the same during time of trade. So it makes sense that the packages are close (as viewed during the respective times of trade). The fact that both Eloy and Cease have blown up makes this more one-sided in hindsight. But agree, the package is fantastic from the Rays perspective.
