Report of Jake's first start for Kanny

First of all, I realize this guy is "old" for his level, but with what he has done so far in his minor league career I thought he'd be interesting to follow. Jake was signed as a non-drafted free agent on June 8, 2013. Assigned to Great Falls, he went 6-3 in 14 games as a starter. He led the Pioneer League in ERA, strikeouts and opponents batting average. This season, currently at Kannapolis he has so far appeared in 7 games, one as a starter. He's 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 18.1 innings while holding opponents to a measly .066 BA. He's walked 6 and struck out 25 while allowing just 4 hits. A right-hander, Right-handed hitters are batting .028 against him. Pretty impressive. He'll turn 25 August 18th.

I could totally see it happening. I think he has a lot of pride and would realize when he just can't do this anymore and/or just isn't having any fun. He wouldn't be the first guy to hang 'em up during a season. Nothing to be ashamed about.

I've been a Sox fan a looooong time and the second game almost always has very low attendance. For that matter, most of the spring regular season games historically will have small crowds.

Not pretty but a win is a win.
