QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) I don't mind people cheering for the draft pick nearly as much as the people waiting to celebrate every failure by declaring how right they were about player x being mediocre because of a single outing. The garbage about Reed in this thread is a perfect example. Oh man, I agree wholeheartedly and furthermore I hate any complaining about individual player's so-called mediocrity (Flowers, Keppinger, Gillaspie, etc., etc.). All teams have "mediocre" players and to see complaining all season long about our guys who are "mediocre" gets awfully tiresome.

I don't openly root against the White Sox. I can't. From game to game I want them to do well but I think there's a difference once the game has ended and they've lost yet again to be kinda relieved that they indeed lost rather than be upset about it. I spent all of May and most of June getting REALLY upset as the losses piled up. Once it was obvious that this season is in the tank and that a really good draft pick next year was looking like a sure bet, I stopped being upset about losses and actually kinda hoping for losses. Still a Sox fan through and through and hoping they turn it around next year and aren't a major embarrassment, such as they currently are.

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) That's not what I a advocating. I want us to play the best we possibly can while retaining a top 5 pick. You don't see me cheering on the Orioles because I am a Sox fan. I'm not cheering on the Orioles or any other opponent but once the Sox lose which is most of the time, I can't help but look on the bright side. It's better than being pissed off, which frankly, as a Sox fan I'm really pissed off big-time deep inside.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 12:13 PM) Awesome! We should blow a lot more games to get that 1st pick for sure. Oh thank goodness (and badness, too!).

How comfortable are you rooting for the draft pick?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 10:52 AM) Tonight the city of Baltimore hosts the Super Bowl Champion Ravens in the NFL season opener White Sox and Orioles in a game that lots of very few people in Baltimore will be watching. And probably even less people in Chicago, just because.

I'm assuming this team would play at Camelback Ranch. No matter, lotsa games in +100 temperatures. Yikes.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 08:30 PM) Personally I'm indifferent to winning and losing in a season like this. I'm not the type of person to openly root for my team to lose, but the games don't matter so I don't really care much about who is winning. Mostly I just hope the young guys play well and that if they do lose, it's fun-bad, so I get a few laughs along the way. Exactly the way I feel. -
The Question that Begs to be Asked and Answered

Hey, take away that 8 run inning and it's a 1-1 game. -
RIP Joe Kelley, Shadows of Knight guitarist. The Shadows of Knight from Mt. Prospect had garage rock classic "Gloria" reach #10 nationally, #1 in Chicago in 1966. Joe later fronted the Joe Kelley Blues Band.

It's funny. It's like this thread died in the 7th inning. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) Garcia's 1st White Sox HR comes on the 23rd anniversary of the Big Hurt's 1st HR as a White Sox. That's cool. Sometimes it amazes me the statistics people come up with.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 10:04 PM) Leury Garcia lead off today went 0-2 but had 2 walks scored both times. One was on a steal and got to third on the throw then sprinted home on a shallow fly ball with a great slide and slap of the plate. I like Little Leury. I've been in that corner that has wanted the Sox to lose but it's been great seeing contributions from the young guys and tonight Sale pitching so well after that last miserable outing. Good to see him get his 10th W too in what has been such a goofy season.
