  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:15 PM) The hitting outside of Semien and M. Johnson from the prospects in the system is abysmal That's a bit extreme. First we had Phegley. Then there's Jacobs, although that's just a few games. But there's Wilkins, Black, Ravelo, Michael Johnson, Anderson (who hasn't exactly been terrible), Shryock. Jacob May, Basto, Thompson and Barnum have had some moments. It's not all abysmal.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) Great points. Our bench on paper was so, so weak. Our team looked like a pennant contender on paper. Though we all were way too excited about adding Keppinger. Since he had a history of drawing some walks, it got the Sox fans excited we actually might have a guy who values getting on base. Of course it doesn't help when Robin lets guys swing 3-0 which IMO is dumb. Not calling for Robin's head, I love the guy, just making an observation. I don't think "excited" is exactly the right word though most of us thought he might hit around .280, draw some walks and not strike out much. I was fine with Keppinger but not excited.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) Or like the White Sox getting Manny Ramirez a few years ago. Yeah, exactly. That worked out well too.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:12 PM) Why not? It's not like he's got an Adam Dunn batting average. He still gets hits. He is one of those trade deadline signees that MIGHT help a team win it all. It's going back a ways but it'd be like the White Sox getting Ted Kluzewski in 1959. He was an old vet and that worked out well for the Sox.
  5. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:58 PM) Blame the Chinese Just one more reminder of why I'm glad I grew up when I did (though many who know me would claim I never did grow up).
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) First day of school is Thursday. Thursday?! Whatever happened to SUMMER VACATION?
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) Casper Wells Yeah but at least he can pitch.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) Tekotte got sent down to make room for Rienzo. Sad. I can't wait till he's back.
  9. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) That's the beauty of it. Yep. That crazy game of baseball.
  10. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) Surprised Robin didnt just sit a bunch of guys, to stoke the trade deadline flames. Paranoia sets in as trade suitors realize that Dunn, Ramirez, DeAza, Peavy and Rios arent playing tonight. Emergency last minute offers, come in. 1. Wells- RF 2. Beckham- 2B 3. Konerko-1B 4. Viciedo-LF 5. Keppinger-SS 6. Gillespie-3B 7. Tekotte-CF 8. Phegley-C 9. Flowers-DH That's just the sort of lineup that would make everyone, myself included, want to run and puke, but yet they'd probably pull off a win.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:28 PM) YOU WERE WRONG Snap.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) I have a feeling it's going to happen in the next few minutes I have feeling this is going down in the next 10 seconds!
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:01 AM) Felix Diaz? Arnie Munoz?
  14. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:12 PM) plus by all accounts, he is a pretty cool guy, too. hard not to root for Jesse Crain on his new team. GO RAYS!!! Agreed. He's a really good guy. Good luck with the Rays, Jesse!
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:16 PM) This season any good? On par with S1 at least? S2 can suck my fat dick. I hated them for that and stopped watching. I think this is the best season yet. Some really great acting performances on that show, particularly Peter Sarsgaard.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) Much Soxtalk b****ing about the returns That or much Soxtalk b****ing about the lack of trading.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) Gary Atherton ‏@NotShoelessJoe 1h Its been 42 years since the White Sox had more losses on July 29th. 62 exceeds any other Sox team since 1970 team was 36-68 on this date. Oddly, I have very fond memories of that awful 1970 team. But then, it might just be due to all the drugs I did back then.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 03:25 PM) We are coming for you Marlins! Watch out, Astros!!!
