  1. Hi8is, you avatar is trippy and makes me feel good. It makes me forget Dotel and Buehrle pitching today.
  2. Uribe was huge with the bat today. Glad to see he proved worthy to be the starter over Pablo against C.C.
  3. The big difference between last year's bullpen and this year's bullpen, is this year's bullpen is much more expensive. Otherwise, basically the same.
  4. Well, they played with a lot of heart today. The problem was, they not only had to play against the Indians, but the umpires as well.
  5. QUOTE(heirdog @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) Actually, 173-0 would be nice because if you went 162-0, you have to sweep the playoffs too to prove that your year wasn't a fluke. That's a lot of pressure. Or 174-0 after winning home field in the all star game.
  6. Life would be so much easier if the Sox could just go 162-0. Is that too much to ask?
  7. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 09:37 AM) Soxtalk related. Checking out the traffic details from Alexa, Soxtalk has slowly decreased in page views, etc since early 2006. Also, it says 32.8% of viewers are from Poland? Is this site way off? http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_...ils/soxtalk.com IIRC, Chicago does have a bigger Polish population than any city in the world this side of Warsaw.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) I've always believed the Sox and Pirates had some type of pre-arranged agreement, as Bonilla came to the Sox from the Pirates the year before the DeLeon trade. I think you and I are among many who mad this suspicion back at the time of the trade.
  9. Is anybody really surprised Massett got the last spot? Hell, Todd Stroger may as well be the GM and hire the rest of his family if the Sox aren't going to base things on performance.
  10. Chat is going to be a madhouse again in 2008, ... even if the team is painful to watch.
  11. I have posted this before in a game thread, but Dye is traditionally a slow starter, so this might be a bad gauge. On the bad side, Dye would have to be wheel chair bound for Ozzie not to play him every day. This would be the case if Swisher, BA, and Q were all hitting .300 .
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) KW coming into the TV booth. It would be funny if KW got confused and thought Joe Morgan was a fan and starting yelling at him and insulting him. I would pay to see that.
  13. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) When Morgan goes off on these tangents he becomes dam near unlistenable! Your statement implies that there are actually times that he is "listenable", which is false.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) Uribe starting his annual shedding of any resemblance of a patient hitter. He will start to open up, swing for the fences and then the traditional crappy hitting begins. Everybody seems to know this but the guy that named him the starting 2B and perhaps the Dodgers for trying to claim him off waivers.
  15. How many people have gone to their grave without seeing the CUbs win the world series. I will die a happy man if I can live long and never have to see the Cubs win the big one too.
  16. This is a trade that made me mad at the time, but is not so bad in hindsight. July 30, 1986: Traded Ron Kittle, Joel Skinner and Wayne Tolleson to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later (Bill Lindsey), Ron Hassey, and Carlos Martinez. Carlos Martinez never became what he was supposed to though Ron Kittle's best years were behind though nobody knew it at the time. Skinner was the reason Fisk was move to LF (for a few games in 86).
  17. Eating disorders are not funny. But Juan Uribe as Jabba the Hutt's stunt double is. Although speaking in Star Wars references, Sarlacc may be more appropriate.
  18. I loath Toby Hall, and for than matter, any grown man that calls himself Toby.
  19. FWIW, ABC 7's Andy Shaw said on the 4:00 news from HRC's Hammond,IN visit that HRC has a lead in Indiana polls because of popular senator Evan Bayh. Speaking as a Hoosier, most of us in the NW part of Indiana are really not big fans of your senator after he tried to built an airport on top of us as governor in the early 90's among other things. Most polls I have seen Obama with a healthy lead in the polls. So Andy Shaw, look in the mirror with your bad hair piece and ask yourself, who are you crappin'?
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) Navarro and Snyder for Eldred and Valentin was a great trade. I don't think Bonilla for DeLeon was that bad. They got Bonilla for nothing and DeLeon turned into the One Dog. But for about a 5 year period after that, Bonilla was one of the most feared hitters in the NL (playing with some skinny kid named Barry Bonds). Bonilla for Deleon or One Dog is still pretty lopsided.
  21. The worst by far came during Hawk's tenure as GM when we swapped a young Bobby Bonilla for Jose Deleon. As for best, I suspect Karchner for Garland might run away and hide with the vote.
  22. This has to be an early favorite for best thread title in 2008.
