  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) Brian Anderson really deserves to make this team. I am afraid that you may be right, but only because Owens has been ouchie. I would rather see Bourgeous make the team as the 4th outfielder.
  2. Almost time to change the name of this topic to say "Brian Anderson was hitting". He sees runners on base and retreats into a slump.
  3. QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 02:05 PM) while i do like stone...he talks an awful lot...sometimes too much As long as he drowns out Farmio, I am all for it.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 10:22 PM) She's a b****, no other way to describe it. I hate her more and more every day. I have come to the conclusion that if the devil had a vagina, her name would be Hilary.
  5. I have trouble putting in to words how much I loath HRC.
  6. ... And the Packers will still be better than the Bears at QB next year.
  7. If the White Sox are seriously looking at Lowry, they may want to give a call to Mike Sirotka and see what he is up to these days.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 05:00 PM) Haeger's knuckler is dancing in the Mexican heat. I still wonder sometimes if Haeger might be a better starter than Floyd.
  9. I never thought Jerry Owens versus Brian Anderson would be such a divisive issue. Its like getting to spin the wheel of torture to chose your own death. In the big picture, neither are really that good at what is important ... playing baseball.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 03:32 PM) Not at Wrigley he doesn't. They sold out before him, and they would sell out if he never played again. The year before they signed him, there were empty seats at the end of the season at Wrigley (gasp!). He was signed to be there new Sammy. Maybe he does not put names in the seats as he was an olive branch after a miserable season.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) Where does the statement that JO has zero baseball intelligence come from? I could expect someone to say that about Anderson, but why Owens? "Zero" might be a stretch. But he is new to baseball and seems to have a lot of Brain farts that most players not named Carlos Lee would have. For example, I remember a game last year where J.O. picked up a single in CF kept bluffing a throw to 3B, while the runner at 2B kept faking a run. Even Hawk said J.O. needs to get the ball in as quick as possible. This should be baseball 101.
  12. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) ESPN reporting that the Falcons have signed Michael Turner http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3273710 Wow! Too bad the Falcons will still suck.
  13. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 03:07 PM) There's also a difference between having no power and having a little power. That is the difference between Jerry Owens and Brian Anderson. I think this argument is flawed. Jerry Owens has almost zero baseball intelligence. However, Brian Anderson had the job handed to him in 2006 and admitted to being unprepared. Yet he still had time to enjoy the Chicago nightlife.
  14. The Cubs are going to regret the Soriano contract and so many ways. And unless they eat a lot of it, they will never be able to trade him. But he does put fat yuppy asses in the seats.
  15. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 02:33 PM) Except that Brian Anderson does have power. In fact, his major league slugging percentage is much higher than Owens' slugging and it's almost higher than his minor league slugging percentage too. And he's a .220 career major league hitter. There is a difference between having power and having more power than Jerry Owens.
  16. If we were to chart Anderson v. Owens, I suspect it would chart out like this: Owens is better in hitting, speed Anderson is better defensively Neither has power. There are not a lot of light hitting defensive outfielders in MLB. The last one that comes to mind is former White Sox Darren Lewis.
  17. The Trib seems to think Randy Moss could leave NE. Randy Moss, I call your bluff.
  18. Trade BA yesterday, before somebody realizes he still can't hit major league pitching.
  19. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 05:21 PM) "Ew dad, this ball smells like sweat and butt." Or "Daddy, there are little curly hairs all over this ball"
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 05:17 PM) Ew. You want them to rub their junk on the ball? 1) As long as I do not have to watch 2) Some of our craptacular pitchers make it through an inning once in a while without allowing a conga line around the bases 3) Walls around the playing field prevent the balls for being soveigners for children
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 05:12 PM) Yep. "Lucky" McGee He throws a mean noseball. I think Gaylord Perry threw something like that except he picked his nose first and wiped it on the ball. Speaking of Gaylord, maybe he could help us break quota rules and teach some of our junk pitchers to rub junk on the ball.
  22. QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) In the Sox case, I wish it was just 1. I guess that Sox just like to active in the community and promote equality. What next, a pitcher with no arms?
  23. QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) Let's just say they have quotas to fill. Oh, I didn't realize affirmative action now also means that each team must carry a pitcher on their roster that absolutely sucks.
  24. Just in case Ozzie completely forgot last year and has not been taking notes so far this year, McDougal, Sisco, and Day all still suck.
