Santana Traded to the Mets
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Pants Rowland's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 01:40 AM) The idea of the cubs facing either the two headed monster of Haren and Webb or facing Santana twice in a short series is too delicious to think about. Wait till these goofs and their "Its going to happen crap" starts up again when they win a crappy division only to get decked in the first round. Just imagine a nice 8 inning 14K Santana masterpiece at the dump on the North Side. With the hackers they have on the North Side, I think a perfect game is well within the realm of possibility. But in the playoffs, it would be awfully sweet. -
Podsednik Check out Scott's personal website, cool stuff. I wonder why nothing is selling at his personal store thought?

I could not be happier with this news. -
Did they remind Colon about Chicago style pizza or even offer it as a signing bonus?

Aardsma Traded to Red Sox for 2 Minor Leaguers
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I suprised there are not more irate sox fans. Isn't this board conditioned to b**** about any move KW makes? OT: I thought KW hates minor leaguers. -
I still causes me physical pain to think of KW's game at 3B.

sox working on extensions for both Jenks and Cabrera
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to chisox2334's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I only posed the question because I have a suspicion that Cabrera's next contract is going to be a hair to rich for the Sox tastes. It will be interesting to reflect on these predictions next year when Cabrera next contract pays him over 10 mil a season well into his mid-30's. Just speculation, but seems to me the type of contract the Giants like writing. -

The use of the word "virtually" is KW (using Bill Clinton wording) to make it sound like there is no chance in hell, when in reality, it is close to fact. I used to love using the word "virtually" in college term papers as a weasel word. -

Just for s***s and giggles, what shall we say is a reasonable contract for an SS in his 30's, named Orlando Cabrera? -
QUOTE(spiderman @ Jan 26, 2008 -> 12:31 PM) This morning, on White Sox Weekly, Kenny Williams says: - The bullpen will be amongst the best in the league. ... I remember the last time we heard this. Wasn't it about 1 year ago?

Uribe vs Richar BATTLE for 2nd Base
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to yoyozuna's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(yoyozuna @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) When I tarted this topic I did not realize how much Uribe hatred there is out there! WOW! I wonder if Uribe has a MONSTER (long shot I know) How many people who have this dislike will be the first ones saying "We have to sign him" or "KW F'd up by signing him to a one year deal" Ponder this: Let's say O-cab goes down for a couple of months would you rather have JUAN URIBE or ALEX CINTRON filling in for a long period. That's basically who Uribe is taking over for. The only thing less likely than people starting a b**** session about missing Uribe, is a thread crying about how much we miss Pods' defense and his stealing 60 bases per season. -

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jan 26, 2008 -> 01:57 AM) Hmm... if we sign OCab, does that mean Uribe may gone for sure? With the only other option being to sign Uribe to an extension after being so good at riding the bench at 2008, I would hope so. -
Reading the Trib article today, I wonder how long it was planned to Farmio to play the bad guy to let KW look less like a smug anal orifice this year?

Kenny and Jerry Steroid enablers?
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to tonyho7476's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It still boggles my mind why Sox fans continue to react to somebody with A) with no journalistic responsbility and B ) is only tries to get a rise out of the public like Howard Stern. When people stop tuning in to find out his next idiotic rambling, he will soon be unemployed. -
Uribe vs Richar BATTLE for 2nd Base
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to yoyozuna's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Uribe is the openning day 2B only if A) Richar is awful in all aspects of his game in spring training B ) Uribe has a monster spring, stays out of jail, and is actually in shape -
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) And it would have made absolutely zero difference. Who the f*** cares about David Aardsma? Some people are happy unless they can be miserable with a move the Sox made.

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) Another thing offensively I noticed we hardly used that 5 receiver set which was almost unstoppable all year, seems like our coordinator was too worried about the blitz coming into this game which he had good reason to but our line faired well for the most part. Would have been nice to see more Ryan Grant at the start of the game almost like he didn't exist and we didn't really use him in the second half like Mccarthy said they would. Idk I can keep going which is kinda sad lol. Yeah Al Harris was awful, but then again we really had no depth behind him that it would have been worth subbing him out due to that leg injury he played through. Just looking ahead to the draft I really want that corner out of Iowa, Godfreys his name I think? I know hes a good bump and run corner. IMO, the D was very overrated all year. People will say, they only allowed 23 points. But the Giants should have easily had over 30. You are right about the 5 receiver set. What happened to quick slants? The Giant secondary is beat up and the Pack never seemed to go after it. It almost felt like the fix was on with all the stupid oversights on the Packers part.

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) Stupid play calls, its like John Shoop was calling the damn plays, little 1 yard passes behind the line every possession, honestly, did they not figure out the giants were not falling for the screens, hell they hardly blitzed that game to even try a screen. I was thinking the same thing and I posted it earlier. How many times do you have to fail with a screen before you decide it doesn't work. Does McCarthy know Ahman Green is gone? The only thing worse than play calling was Al Harris being taken to school.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 09:14 PM) Based on what? NE hasn't played great this post season and Giants almost beat em in Week 17. NE will be favored huge, but Giants should be able to hang. A little exaggeration, but I really don't the Pats have been showing us their best the last 4 weeks ... mainly because they really have not had to.
-
QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) What does that say about the Packers that they couldn't win that game? No offense to the good Pack fans on here. I believe the word you are looking for here is "choke".
-
The Packers did everything in their power to give that game to the Giants and they would not take it. Guess nobody is in the mood to go to the Superbowl and get humiliated. Prediction: Pats 67, Giants 17.
-
If the game is still tied after triple OT, are the Pats Superbowl champs by default?
