  1. People laughed when I said the Reds could finish above the Cubs in the Central and potentially win it. Their only realy question is health and bullpen other than the closer.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) No doubt in my mind Quentin proves more valuable. Fuk is already going towards the wrong side of 30. Ozzie has to play Quentin regularly for him to prove anything.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:34 PM) Why doesn't someone tell Joe the objective of baseball is to elevate the ball within 100 ft of homeplate? Maybe then he'd naturally go against it and become a good hitter. Because he was clutch in the 2005 playoffs. Did you forget?
  4. Well, Crede must be healthy, because he is popping up as usual. Hooray! A whole season of .230 and pop ups while Fields is in AAA.
  5. I would have never thought Dye and Uribe would have a hit before Alexi this year.
  6. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) Is there another team that won a championship and were riding high to drop off the face of the planet to become a laughing stock faster than the Sox have? This sounds like the handy work of mastermind GM, Kenny Williams On a related thought, will we get swept by the Pirates this year? ... Orioles?
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) Not even two games in and I'm already sick of this team. I'm usually one of the more optimistic posters on this site. But this team has been a complete laughing stock since the all-star break of 2006. Damn, I sound like the voice of reason. Fixed.
  8. QUOTE(Allsox @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) Someone asked where's our Fausto Carmona. I counter with where's our Grady Sizemore?!? Oh yeah, I forgot, he's leading off for AZ right now. Dammit Kenny! We traded Ryan Sweeney to Oakland.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) Pitching won't be a problem in 2008. KW promised. And KW also lives in a fantasy land.
  10. Well, I think we now have our official b**** thread. 1. More expensive team 2. Poor situational hitting 3. K's 4. McDougal 5. Why are the players that we excited about not playing?
  11. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) Cleveland pen makes the pitches............. Sox give up the BIG hit is the difference in the teams! The Cleveland pen also lacks McDOugal.
  12. When in doubt, just predict the White Sox will go down swinging in the clutch. After all, we can't move runners over and have almost no OBP guys. K is the safe guess, particularly with the sloth that is Dye.
  13. QUOTE(G&T @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) Bases loaded. 2 out. Dye up. Simple Prediction: K
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) Only if some team offers something more valuable than 2 arbitration picks. None of this Willy Mo Pena + a reliever (aka...a hard throwing reliever) garbage like the Bosox tried to give us for JD last year. Yes. And no team will make a good offer for 1/2 year of OC.
  15. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) Do you think that top to bottom, we have the slowest lineup in the majors? I have trouble finding any team with 4 slower players than Thome, Dye, AJ, and Konerko.
  16. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) Farmer always wants the home run... I always want him to lose his voice.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) Well, duh! It just infuriates me so much to think that we can up most of our farm system this offseason, spent a lot of money on relievers, sent down Fields for Crede....and we're still a bad team. With 2/3 of the line up back, the big changes are fantasy. Where is the revitalized BA, Fields, Q, etc ... But Fathom, you and I could b**** about that forever. Same team, different year.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) The thing is, I don't think the Indians offense is very good. Sizemore's a stud, but besides him, it's nothing amazing. Hafner really sucks now. The Indians have the two aces at the top though. I still think the Tigers are far and away the best team in this division. The Indians don't have any stud hitters, but they have a lot of good scrappy type hitters. That said, I would wager the Indians win the Division by 3+ games over the Tigers.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) This Carmona would have no lasted 4 innings against the Red Sox. He had no control tonight, but we didn't let him implode. But he can dominate our softball lineup, which highlights why the Indians are so much better of a team.
  20. After two games, I am amazed at how much of a better team the Indians arethan the White Sox. On another none, where is our Fausto Carmona? And where was Fausto Carmona when the Indians needed him to close out the ALCS?
  21. Positive thought: Did Uribe look thinner today, or was it just an illusion caused by him spinning like a helicopter at the plate?
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) Watching the replays now....Swisher is definitely an upgrade over whoever we had in LF since Carlos Lee. However, when are we going to see the negative thread started? I would start it, but I think it is Mr. Pessimism's gig. I am only the Vice Pessimist.
  23. QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) just stare at it and say out loud in a shrilly voice: " wheeee!!! wheeee!!!! wheee!!!!! wheeee!!! wheeee!!!! wheee!!!!! wheeee!!! wheeee!!!! wheee!!!!!" Actually, I keep saying "There's no place like home" and hope I can return to 2005.
  24. Another positive thought: We do not have Eric Gagne in our bullpen.
