  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) 3 years in a row, huh? Josh Beckett is my AL pick. Dam. You beat me to it.
  2. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) 33 days until pitchers and catchers (February 17) 44 days until first Spring Training game (March 1) 76 days until Opening Day (April 2) I hear that.
  3. Could the Rally Crede have covered Steve Smith better than Tillman?
  4. I predict Kerry Wood will be a dominate pitcher next year with a low earned run average and a higher strike out total than anybody else in MLB in simulated games. That is why Kerry Wood is my simulated league Cy Young finishing just ahead of Mark Prior. Perhaps he can even take the cubs to a simulated World Series. Mark it down that I called the shot on January 15.
  5. I would easily take Gload over a guy who hit .260 in Japan. Seung-Yeop Lee wasn't even an average player in Japan. I can't imagine he would pan out here.
  6. I saw Frostbite and all I could think of was Frostbite Falls, MN, home of Rocky and Bullwinkle!!!
  7. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) Works for me And to Chris Singleton...good luck ... and we can all drink to the fact that at least it is not Mike North.
  8. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) Well, I'm glad you've taken your time today to sink to my level. You are quite the humanitarian. And here is a personal favorite quote of mine.... 'Fat Drunk and stupid is no way to go through life son!' - Dean Wurmer, Animal House....maybe I should have taken his advice. Or perhaps we should both say to hell with it all and have another beer. It's 5 o'clock somewhere
  9. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) So...man of faith=character....how about Jimmy Baker...he was a man of faith...and quite the character...Jessica Hahn knows something about that. And it was a dumb comment, Pastor. Read back I never said faith = character. I was careful not to say that. Chris Singleton's faith is emblematic of his character. I don't have time to explain to you that every "Christian" is not a good man. I was one of the first to derail Pat Robertson in a post last week. I maintain my stance, "Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish." --Euripides
  10. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) What? Man of faith? What does that have to do with calling baseball games? People without faith shouldn't be hired? Dumb comment, IMO. I like people of character. Not that I would have minded if they hired a pagan. I would rather have a character guy walking the locker room than somebody only serving their ego (Mike North). Being known as a good Christian man in the Sox locker room during his time deomstrates to me that he is a man of character. Shakespeare wrote, "Swine are known by the company they keep." Know anything about that? As far as my thought being "dumb", ... "Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish." --Euripides
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) Interesting. i dont' know much about Chris as an announcer, but he was a really nice guy as a player to the fans, and he was not ashamed at all of his faith. Not sure about his broadcasting skills, but one of the traits that always made me fond of him is his being a man of faith.
  12. QUOTE(CardsJimEdmonds15 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) MLB.com is Reporting: Cardinals.MLB.com is Reporting: Poor Cubs.. That makes my day. If only he could have his playing days with the Cubs strickened from the record.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) How does Sutter make it and not Gossage????? This was my first thought. In their primes, I think Goose was much more feared than Sutter. Goose needs to go in long before Lee Smith too as Smith had the advantage of twilight shadows at Wrigley for a lot of his playing days. Here's to hoping Bruce goes into the hall as a Cardinal.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) Surely this move will demonstrate to Tejada the Orioles do have a commitment to winning... If the trade were turned around, it would be enough of a committment to winning for Cubs fans.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Wow, pretty much gave him away huh? I thought the Cubs were getting another starting pitcher for Patterson
  16. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) The Score just announced it... HE GONE! 17. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) Doesn't George Jr. claim that he talks to G-d too? He does not have a direct line like Robertson.
  18. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) I was listening to the radio news and they said President Bush just teed off on Robertson saying stuff to the effect of "his comments were totally inappropriate and have no place in this dialouge." Behind the scenes, Bush said, "Oh s***, Robertson is refusing to take his meds again. Next he will be seeing a 50 foot Jesus in Tulsa, Oklahoma."
  19. I normally stay out of the political forum, but Robertson pissed me off royally when he said this crap about Sharon. So here are my thoughts. Robertson needs his ass kicked. Not the type of physical violence than you or I could infllict. I would never condone that. You see, when people put words in God's mouth to make money or manipulated God's word, God has a way of seriously kicking their ass. Look at Jim Baker. Telling the world that we can not get into heaven without his personal seal of approval while he is nailing Jessica Hahn, buying property, and building mansions. Now Baker only can have people not listen to him in prison. David Koresh might still be burning. You don't put words in God's mouth. Big mistake Robertson. When the lights are shut off tonight Pat, and you really do hear a voice, it may be somebody collecting on your taxes. ... or maybe not.
  20. QUOTE(heirdog @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) This rumor will get heated up and tomorrow we will see Contreras resigns with Whitesox for 2 years $22 mill with a team option for a third year. He knows its either that or play in Baltimore, suck it up in an all-white locker room in Houston, or continue his success as a top of the rotation pitcher with the World Champs. While I may not entirely agree with your last second, The first sentence (money aside) would not surprise me.
  21. As previously posted, the o's wanted to dump Tejada. They are not truly desperate if they are still trying to fleece teams major and minor league rosters. If this is going to happen, I suspect the the price will go down as the possible suitors dwindle.
  22. QUOTE(quade36 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Wow, I hope this doesn't happen. Not only would the Sox trade two Major League players, but two of their top prospects? Thats too much. Agreed. This Tejada obsession may be going to far. It makes no sense to trade the present and future for Tejada. Either the O's have lost all touch with reality or my bulls*** sensors having been sounding all day for good reason, mlbtraderumors.com
  23. I would rather not see Favre crippled behind the an NFL Europe O-line in its second season. Willie Mays hung around too long. Rickey Henderson hung around too long. Marino hung around too long. Favre hung around one year too long. Don't make it two years.
