NFL Coaches Firings Galore!
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Mr. Magoo is unemployed!! Probably would still have a job if he did not keep sending in the same three plays over and over again. -
Pirates interested in Sham-Me Sosa
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
Some people here hate seeing posts with "cute little nicknames" for players. That being said, I am glad to see this post. Also, a new icon with steroid needles may also be helpful. -
The perfect 2006: White Sox repeat as champions. Cubs go 0-162. And all the best to the gang at Soxtalk

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) There are more fun things to do in Vegas than watch baseball. That says it all right there. Not that baseball would not thrive there, but I would not spend my time in Vegas at a baseball game ... unless the White Sox were the visiting team

Now we're just getting silly
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It is not even 8 am, and I feel like I need a drink after reading that. Merry Christmas! -
Cubs after Tejada, could move Prior
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I highly doubt this deal gets done. Yet another in the infinite list of reasons to laugh at Cubs fans. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Dude, did you see that bomb against Lidge? Pujols is now officially both a noun and a verb. All at once. You can't be just a noun and hit a ball like that. I would love to meet the English teacher you have had. Perhaps you can even complete a doctorate on this theory Dr. Balta.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Problem is, as a catcher, he may never...when you're a catcher and you start having knee, leg and groin problems early in your career...it's really damn hard for those things to heal all the way and never bother you, since you're taking such a beating behind the plate. Once again, agreed. The shelf life of a good younf catcher is generally short which is why it is smart to not sign them long term. If Mauer is ever to come close to the offensive expectations, a position change (ie Biggio) may be in order. Perhaps Mauer can go to 1st.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Mauer did have some injury problems, but his biggest issue I still think for most of the year was recovering from his knee problems the year before. Agreed. Hence, his not yet living up to expectations ... yet.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Pujols. Normally a sentence has a subject AND a verb, but I will presume that you are suggesting that Pujols is the key to which I will a agree.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) His 550 plate appearances last year didn't constitute a full season? He logged some DL time and was slowed by injuries. 489 is his 2005 total, but not at 100%.
-
I am still waiting to see what Mauer can do in a full season. Not that he is not good, but I would still venture to say that people are expecting bigger things than we have seen so far.

The Cards are quietly having a solid offseason. I see another division title in their future.

Royals close to landing Reggie Sanders
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
This changes everything on my 2006 predictions. I am moving the Royals from a 5th place finish to a 4th place finish. Reggie SanderClaus will own Detroit. -

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) Excellent post. Unless Hendry and company have some inside information like this that no one else knows, he would be a fool to trade Prior. Exactly. Methinks the Cubs are trying to slip a Mike Sirotka to the O's. Either Prior is hurt or Hendry is a bigger moron than any of us can even grasp. The O's are smart to go after that nut job Zambrano instead. -
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) The Giants managed to somehow get older. Hats off to Sabean, that's quite an accomplishment. I can smell a Jesse Orosco signing coming. That being the case, the Giants really missed out in not signing Julio Franco.

He could not possibly be worse than Jon Adkins who I saw we non-tendered.

Corey Patterson for Gil Meche?
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) Still unfair. The air fresheners would have to have some sort of smell like "Newly fallen cement ceiling" or something like that. Oh, and I thought I was cruel to Cub fans. -
Corey Patterson for Gil Meche?

Cub Fan's Trade Idea :Patterson for Tejada Reality: Patterson for air fresheners around Wrigely -
Next time you see a Cubs fan, you really want to ask, "Is this the best your team can do?" I am almost feel sorry for Cubs fans ... almost ... though not quite. Cubs STILL suck, just in a new and completely original way.

Devil Rays trade for Josh Paul
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(toasty @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) maybe LAA is blaming paul for their loss to the sox in the playoffs.... Do you think Paul kept the ball like Doug Mietkewicz? -
Devil Rays trade for Josh Paul
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
With the mass exodus from Anahiem, I was convinced Paul would be the starting catcher. -
AJ Pierzynski Signs 3-yr Contract Extension
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to CSF's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A.J. has quickly become one of my favorites after I loathed him when he played for the Twins. This is great news. Captain Chaos Reigns! -
I think it would be fun (although probably not a good idea) to pick up Borowski and let Coop work him into a middle reliever. Then we would have another thing to rub in the faces of Cub fans.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Claudell Washington I remember the legendary Claudell Washington slept here sign hanging from the upper deck at the old Comisky
