  1. Doesn't make any sense to trade Teel now absent a godfather offer. The whole point of the rebuild is to find and develop guys like Teel.
  2. It's sort of on the GM to identify less heralded guys in other systems who are being undervalued and could fit the bill for these smaller trades. If nothing comes together that's sort of on him too.
  3. I don't know, we probably leaked that we're increasingly likely to hold Robert to try to build some leverage here in the next couple hours.
  4. If anyone asked, I'm sure we'd entertain talks on anybody (at least I'd sure hope so). It's not like we have untouchables.
  5. I think it would have to be JR willing to pay $20M on an otherwise cheap payroll to have the closest they'll get to a "star" name in the lineup to sell some extra tickets. With the reports that he has a decent market now, it's certainly a gamble that they'd increase his trade value enough by holding him a year and spending $20M in the process.
  6. Ziehl slots in as our #14 prospect per mlb.com. Not bad for Slater. White Sox Top Prospects | MiLB.com
  7. Just noticed that Spencer Jones is having a big year in AA/AAA. I know a lot of folks weren't sold on him when his name came up in the past (last year?).
  8. Seems like a solid enough return for a guy like Slater. I like the 70/14 K/BB ratio on the year.
  9. Obviously it's not going to happen under JR but there's really no reason a properly funded/run Sox franchise in Chicago couldn't afford those guys. MLB average payroll is around $170M.
  10. We've done ok on the pitching side (especially if you go back to Sale, Rodon), but it's been way too long since we hit it big on a position player in the draft. Need to change that ASAP. Next year's pick in particular when we should have a top draft pick again. Having top 5 picks 2 years in a row and walking away with Madrigal and Vaughn was certainly a killer.
  11. We're so far away from even being a .500 team. I have a hard time seeing it before 2029 at the earliest. And that's not just because that's the first time when JR might give up control -- we just have no offensive prospects at the upper minor league levels. And there's no chance JR spends on FA's unless we build from within first.
  12. JR is still in control. A future right to purchase doesn’t change that. (And I’m a “corporate attorney,” if that matters.)
  13. I think Griffey Jr. still has a little left.
